FIDIC – helping to create a better world for everyone

Since 1913, the Fédération Internationale des Ingénieurs-Conseils or more commonly, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and its members have played a crucial role in supporting, guiding and helping to advance the engineering, construction and infrastructure sector and drive change to improve the sustainability, wellbeing and economic prospects of society. FIDIC facilitates the sharing of knowledge, ideas and innovation to tackle the global challenges we face.

As a result, FIDIC’s reach goes beyond that of just the countries where its member associations (MAs) are located, establishing it as the global voice of the consulting engineering industry around the world.

FIDIC is a more than 110 year old organisation whereas Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) is nearing its 72nd year in existence. When the founding members of CESA made a decision to join FIDIC they most likely back then had a vision for South Africa’s consulting engineering industry to keep pace with the global trends in the sector, The ongoing active participation by CESA in the various activities of FIDIC over many years has made it possible for our present day organisation to indeed live up to the foresight of its founding members.
