NEWS AND NOTES WISHES FOR TEACHERS WISH GRANTING Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers wish granting has begun! A record 4,204 applications were submitted from over 110 cities across Arizona. Fiesta Bowl Charities and members from the Arizona and college football community will be granting wishes throughout the month of November. Watch as ESPN’s Mike Golic and the Arizona Teacher of the Year have already selected some worthy teachers. Updates daily on WishesforTeachers.org.
CHECK PRESENTATION SCHEDULE We invite all Board members and Yellow Jackets to attend the following check presentation to support Fiesta Bowl Charities and the record $2.5 million in charitable giving this season! ST. MARY’S FOODBANK ALLIANCE $25,000 donation from Fiesta Bowl Charities for the St. Mary’s backpack program WHEN: Tuesday, November 21st from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The check presentation will be at 7:45 a.m. Volunteering to distribute Thanksgiving food to those in need will be from 8 – 10 a.m. WHERE: St. Mary’s Foodbank Alliance You will park at Grand Canyon University (3300 West Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85017) and be shuttled to St. Mary’s Foodbank Alliance due to the limited parking during the Thanksgiving Distribution If you plan on attending, please email Kelly Schindler at kschindler@fiestabowl.org

Become a PlayStation Fiesta Bowl or Cactus Bowl host and show our special guests why we are known for world-class hospitality! For each game, 50 hosts are needed and each Fiesta Bowl host will be responsible for providing their guests with dinner on December 28.
All Yellow Jackets and staff members have been tasked to help sell the Community Champions ticket package. By each person utilizing their respective networks, we hope to sell 1,700 SendA-Vet, Send-A-Teacher and Send-A-Kid tickets to the Cactus Bowl. For more information, click HERE.

FIESTA BOWL CHARITIES C H A RITY S P O T L IG HT Ryan House Ryan House is a 2017 Fiesta Bowl Charities grant recipient, receiving $25,000 for the “Story of Me” project. The organization prides itself on five pillars: care, people, compassion, dignity and peace for both children and families. The Ryan House delivers multiple adaptive on-site care for children who face life-limiting or terminal illness. Parents are able to check in their child for up to 28 days every year in order for them to receive respite care, pediatric palliative care and life-enhancing therapeutic care. Fiesta Bowl staff members and Yellow Jackets will hold an official check presentation at the Ryan House on Thursday, December 7th at 11:30 a.m. Learn more about Ryan House HERE. Favorite Game: Notre Dame vs. Ohio State (2016) Most Memorable Moment: Being able to hold the flag during the National Anthem of the Notre Dame vs. Ohio State game in 2016, with youth I have mentored from New Pathways for Youth. Favorite Job: VIP Hosting Fun Fact: My first time ever in Arizona was to attend the 2006 Notre Dame vs. Ohio State game Why do you volunteer for the Fiesta Bowl: I love the committee, the volunteers and community. Being a part of an organization that contributes in a big way to the local community, while getting up-close insight into the best college football in the country is an incredible honor. I can only hope the bowl and community get as much out of me volunteering as I have received in being a yellow jacket.

First Year on Board: 2016-17 Favorite Fiesta Bowl Game: January 3, 2003 – THE Ohio State University Buckeyes defeated the Miami Hurricanes, 31-24, in double overtime Most Memorable Moment: It’s really a collection of moments – comprised of the many incredible staff, committee members and volunteers whom I have met and worked with, and who have truly become family. Favorite Job: Serving as Moderator for all Fiesta Bowl/Cactus Bowl Game Week Press Conferences Interesting Fact: While living in Houston, Texas, in the mid-90s, I served as a spotter in the NBC broadcast booth for all Houston Oilers telecasts.
STAF F SP O T L I GH T: EM ILY H O L D EN Staff Member Since: August 2017 Position at the Fiesta Bowl: Director of Game & Event Operations Responsibilities: Oversee game and ESPN operations as well as security and team site visits. In addition, assists with team services and spring summit. Alma Mater: Arizona State University Favorite College Football Game: Working the Missouri vs Oklahoma game in 2010 – We hosted ESPN College Gameday and the Tigers beat the No. 1 ranked Sooners.
