Team of the Week: Kansas State
Kansas State shocked No. 13 Oklahoma State, 45-40, at Boone Pickens Stadium. In only his second start, freshman quarterback Skyler Thompson opened the game by leading the Wildcats down the field on a 10-play, 71-yard drive that was capped off by a five-yard touchdown run by Thompson. In addition to the touchdown run, Thompson completed 10-of-13 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns. The young Kansas State quarterback’s performance was boosted by junior receiver Brian Pringle who accounted for 280 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns. With the win, the Wildcats are now bowl eligible.

The No. 12 USC Trojans defeated in-state rival UCLA, 28-23. USC Quarterback Sam Darnold commented on winning the victory bell in one of college football’s greatest rivalries: “Beating UCLA, keeping the Victory Bell here, and just staying undefeated at home for the last two years, it’s a huge accomplishment,” Darnold said.

Where is College GameDay? ESPN’s College GameDay is heading to Auburn for the Iron Bowl. The winner between No. 6 Auburn and No. 1 Alabama will go to Atlanta and represent the SEC West in the SEC championship game. The three-hour broadcast will begin at 7:00 a.m. and kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
This Week in College Football History November 20, 1943
No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Iowa became the second top-two opponents from the Associated Press weekly polls to meet. The Fighting Irish prevailed, 14-13, and finished the season as No. 1 in the final AP poll despite a 19-14 setback to Great Lakes Naval Air Station on Nov. 27.

FACTS Fiesta Bowl History
The 2001 Fiesta Bowl brought in the third-largest crowd in Fiesta Bowl History and the largest for a non-national championship game. Oregon State put a serious exclamation point on its sudden emergence on the national college football scene. The Beavers took control in the third quarter to post a convincing 41-9 victory over Notre Dame. After jumping out to a 12-3 halftime lead, the Beavers exploded in the third quarter, scoring four touchdowns in just over seven minutes. Quarterback Jonathan Smith, who was named the offensive player of the game, connected with T.J. Houshmandzadeh on a 23-yard touchdown to begin the onslaught. The Beavers finished with five sacks, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a Fiesta Bowl record 15 tackles for loss. For a full recap, click here.
Fiesta Bowl Charities
Thank you to all the volunteers who contributed to building a new KaBOOM! playground at the Salvation Army Center Kroc Corps and Community Center this past Saturday. Together, the playground was built in under six hours and will impact children across Phoenix for years to come. It could not have been possible without all the hard work and dedication.
