2020 - Week 15 COLLEGE FOOTBALL
INSIDER | 2020 | WEEK 15
Quote of the week “Obviously, this team is very proud of what they were able to do, but there’s also a sense of understanding there’s more football to be played.” - Iowa State Head Coach Matt Campbell after clinching a trip to the Big 12 Championship game, defeating West Virginia, 42-6
TEAM TO WATCH:
Texas a&m
The fifth-ranked Aggies made their case for the College Football Playoff by scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter to complete a 31-20 comeback victory over Auburn on Saturday. After starting the year 1-1, Texas A&M has now won six straight as it makes a push to move up in the rankings. Auburn came out of the locker room at halftime and took a 17-14 lead with a 75-yard drive and a field goal on the next possession. The Aggies immediately responded by scoring on their next three possessions. After Kellen Mond threw for a touchdown, Ainias Smith ran for a 4-yard score and Seth Small kicked a 32-yard field goal with 1:09 left on the clock to ice the game. Mond had a bounce-back game after an uncharacteristic performance against LSU last week, throwing for 196 yards, two touchdowns and ran for another. Texas A&M will travel to Tennessee to wrap up the regular season on Saturday.
TEAM OF THE WEEK:
Coastal carolina The Chanticleers welcomed BYU on short notice, so it was only fitting that the 22-17 game came down to a short-yardage situation. Coastal Carolina stopped BYU’s Dax Milne at the 1-yard line as time expired to stay undefeated and move to 10-0. BYU entered the contest with the fourth-highest scoring offense in the country and Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Zach Wilson. The Chanticleers entered the game looking to prove themselves against another Top-25 team. Coastal Carolina gained the edge by keeping the Cougars offense off the field with three long touchdown drives. Wilson did all he could, including throwing a 17-yard completion to end the game, but 18 yards were needed. Wilson finished 19-of-30 passing for 240 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The victory was No. 13 Coastal Carolina’s biggest win in the program’s four FBS seasons. CJ Marable led the way, rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Coastal Carolina travels to Troy before rounding out the season at home against No. 19 Louisiana, who beat No. 7 Iowa State in the season-opener.

WHERE IS COLLEGE GAMEDAY:
WEST POINT
College GameDay is heading to West Point for one of college football’s greatest traditions: The Army-Navy game. For the first time since 1943, during World War II, the game will be played at a home site. For an added bonus, since the game is being played at Army’s home field in New York, the entire Brigade of Midshipmen and Corps will be in attendance. GameDay has a different look this Fall, but fans are still able to participate online and send in their best GameDay Signs on Twitter by heading to collegegameday.com for a chance to rep their team. College GameDay airs Saturday, December 12, at 7 am MST.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL INSIDER | 2020 | WEEK 15
GOLDEN HISTORY:
2005 – THE UNLIKELY UTES People were calling them the BCS Busters. Others were calling them Cinderella. Regardless of the title, Utah proved that it was simply one of the best teams in the nation, capping its perfect season with an exclamation point on the bright BCS stage. The Utes ran their spread-it-around offense to perfection and flew to the ball on defense to coast to a 35-7 win over Pittsburgh in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl in prime time on New Year’s Day.
ALUMNI HIGHLIGHT:
Wayne Gallman
Former Clemson running back Wayne Gallman and the New York Giants have won four straight after defeating the Seattle Seahawks 17-12 on Sunday. Gallman’s was the NFL’s leading rusher on Sunday, totaling 135 yards on 16 attempts. His performances have helped the Giants on their recent winning streak, scoring five touchdowns in five games. In 2016, Fiesta Bowl fans saw Gallman lead the game with 85 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries as Clemson shut out Ohio State, 31-0, in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the PlayStation® Fiesta Bowl. The running back’s touchdown put a period on the game, scoring with 8:51 left in the contest to put the Tigers up by their final margin.
Utah head coach Urban Meyer announced before the game that he would be taking the Florida job at the end of the season. He was on the sideline to lead the Utes to their most impressive season in their most improbable game to cap a 12-0 season in historic fashion, leaving the school with its first undefeated, untied season since 1930. Utah became the first team from a non-BCS conference to earn a spot in one of the four BCS bowls by running the table, with dominating victories over Texas A&M, Arizona and North Carolina.
50th Anniversary Celebration To celebrate its storied history that began with a vision from nine community leaders in 1971, the Fiesta Bowl has unveiled a special logo and other initiatives to commemorate its 50th Anniversary season. The Fiesta Bowl will recognize some of the top players, coaches, moments and milestones with a series of Top 50 lists, offer merchandise with the 50th Anniversary logo, honor its 50-year season ticket members, host a volunteer appreciation event open to every volunteer over the 50-year history and more.
