Quote of the week “Guys were so excited. Obviously happy about the win, but as much as anything, they were happy to do what they love to do today. It’s something I’ll remember forever.” - UCF Head Coach Josh Heupel on playing after the pandemic

team TO WATCH: Miami Is ‘The U’ back? Miami is off to a 2-0 start to the season behind transfer quarterback D’Eriq King, after an impressive road win at Louisville, 47-34. Coming off an opening-week 55-3 drubbing against BYU, Navy trailed Tulane, 24-0, at halftime, but rallied

With their backs against the wall as Tulane drove to add points on a 24-point lead, the Midshipmen intercepted the Green Wave at their own 3-yard line. That play not only stopped a scoring drive but turned the tide for Navy, who outgained Tulane 291-82 in the second half. The Middies scored 24 points in an 8:21 stretch to tie the game and then Bijan Nichols kicked a 33-yard field goal at the final buzzer to complete the comeback and give Navy its first win of the season. 50 Years of the Fiesta Bowl: Our Faithful Fans Over the course of the Fiesta Bowl’s 49-year history, there have been numerous fans who can proudly claim they have attended every game as ticketholders. What perhaps makes the Dickey family a little different than others is that, on top of attending the games, one member of the family has coached in two Fiesta Bowl contests.

alumni highlight: Jaylon Smith The final college football game of Jaylon Smith’s career was a hyped Fiesta Bowl matchup between his Notre Dame squad and Ohio State. It didn’t go according to script, and that was beyond the final score. The talented Fighting Irish linebacker suffered a devastating leg injury that some thought would be a career-ender. That didn’t deter Smith, who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and recovered from the torn knee ligaments and foot nerve damage enough to earn a five-year max contract extension from the team.

Charlie Dickey vividly remembers sneaking onto the Sun Devil Stadium turf as a teenager to grab a wristband and autograph from players as they exited. Years later, he graced that same field as an assistant coach, first with the University of Arizona and then again on Bill Snyder’s staff at Kansas State. Dickey kicked off his 2020 season on Saturday as offensive line coach at Oklahoma State, a team that has been mentioned as a possibility for the 50th Anniversary Fiesta Bowl game this season on January 2. Read the full story about how Grandpa Charlie first secured tickets in 1971 and how the Dickey family has enjoyed their experiences.

On Sunday, in a come-from-behind win over Atlanta, Smith posted a game-high 13 tackles, with five coming on the last two Falcons drives as the Cowboys overcame a 20-point deficit to win. Smith’s ball-hawking effort came on the heels of a 10-tackle performance in the season opener against the Rams. Dallas has a 1-1 record through two games and travels to Seattle this Sunday for a featured contest against the 2-0 Seahawks.
