WEEK 13 WHAT’S NEW TEAM OF THE WEEK: IOWA
QUOTE OF THE WEEK “Our kids are going toe-to-toe with every team in this conference and some of the best football teams in the country right now.” Iowa State Head Coach Matt Campbell after defeating then ranked No. 19 Texas Photo credit of Reese Strickland/USA Today
TEAM TO WATCH: OKLAHOMA The Big 12 is vying for the last spot in the College Football Playoff and No. 9 Oklahoma is the conference’s best shot to make its case. The Sooners moved to the top of the Big 12 with a 6-1 record (9-1 overall) after last weekend’s come-from-behind win to beat then No. 13 Baylor, 34-31. Oklahoma overcame a 25-point deficit (28-3) to record the biggest comeback victory in program history. A pair of redshirt freshmen came up big for the Sooners – kicker/punter Gabe Brkic kicked the 31-yard winning field goal, while outside linebacker Nik Bonitto’s interception sealed the win. This weekend, No. 9 Oklahoma close its home season against TCU on FOX at 6 p.m. The Sooners conclude the regular season with its in-state rivalry game at No. 21 Oklahoma State on November 30.
From Michigan (2016) to Ohio State (2017), No. 17 Iowa always likes to play spoiler to teams in the College Football Playoff conversation. The Hawkeyes’ November magic lived up to its hype last Saturday in Kinnick Stadium when it knocked off then No. 8 Minnesota, 23-19. In front of a 67,518 Blackout crowd, Iowa won its fifth straight game against the Gophers and is now 5-1 in November home games against top 10 teams since 1999. With a fast start, senior quarterback Nate Stanley led Iowa to two touchdowns, boosting his career total to 66 touchdown passes, No. 2 in program history. The Iowa defense also finished with a season-high six sacks, the most by the program’s defense since 2013. No. 17 Iowa close the home season against Illinois on Saturday at 10 a.m. on BTN.

FIESTA BOWL FACTS VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: TIM BROWN
TWEET OF THE WEEK
Most college football fans remember the 2007 Fiesta Bowl classic between Boise State and Oklahoma well, but not many remember it better than 16-year Fiesta Bowl volunteer Tim Brown. “I have a lot of great memories from my time with the Fiesta Bowl but watching that game- that comeback- with my three boys is something I will never forget, Brown said. For Brown, that was just one of the many rewarding moments he got to experience as a Fiesta Bowl volunteer.
