TEAM OF THE WEEK: GEORGIA STATE Georgia State produced one of the signature victories to kick off the college football season by defeating Tennessee 38-30. The Panthers had not beaten a Power Five team since their program’s inception in 2010. Coming off a 2-10 season, the Sun Belt program was an unlikely candidate for an upset. Quarterback Dan Ellington powered his team to a win with three touchdowns, two through the air and one on ground. To go into Neyland Stadium and pull off an upset is no easy task but don’t tell Georgia State that.

The 2019 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl Champion and sixth-ranked LSU Tigers travel to Austin, Texas, to take on No. 9 Texas in the first Top10 battle of the season. The Tigers rolled out their new-look offense last week against Georgia Southern and it resulted in a 55-3 victory. All eyes will be on the quarterbacks in this one. For the Tigers, Fiesta Bowl Offensive MVP Joe Burrow shined in the new system, going 23-27 for 278 yards and five TDs. On the other side, the Tigers feature All-America Grant Delpit and one of the nation’s best defenses against Longhorns QB Sam Ehlinger, who had a 28-38 passing performance with 276 yards and four TDs. This game pits the 2019 and 2009 Fiesta Bowl champions against each other.

WHERE IS COLLEGE GAMEDAY? College GameDay is heading to The Lone Star State for a huge contest in Week Two. On Saturday, one of the country’s most popular college football shows will be front and center in a Top-10 contest between No. 9 Texas and No. 6 LSU. Both teams are coming off a Week One win and this is one game you won’t want to miss. Kickoff in Austin will be at 4:30 MT.

CFB150 CFB150 is a year-long celebration that will feature local game activations with a national focus on select early games, Anniversary Week (October 31-November 9) and the postseason. Schools have been encouraged to showcase their own history by including the Anniversary in home game presentations throughout the 2019 season, specifically during Anniversary Week.

HEISMAN WATCH Although it’s early in the season, the race for the prestigious Heisman Trophy has already started. Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts is at the top of ESPN, Newsday and 247 Sports lists for potential winners. Hurts had a standout Week One performance against Houston, leading the Sooners to a 49-31 win. He threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns while adding three more on the ground to go with 176 rushing yards. Hurts transferred from Alabama to Oklahoma this past season, following similar footsteps of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, who were transfer quarterbacks and both went on to win the Heisman. Time will tell if Oklahoma can make the third time a charm.
