WEEK 5 WHAT’S NEW TEAM OF THE WEEK: UCLA
QUOTE OF THE WEEK “Let this one hurt. At the end of the day, you can either descend from this and fall apart or you can come together and grow as a football team.” UCF Head Coach Josh Heupel after the Knights’ loss to Pitt. Photo credit of Stephen M. Dowell/Orlando Sentinel
TEAM TO WATCH: AUBURN The Tigers are making a statement. After a Week 4 win on the road against No. 17 Texas A&M, Auburn has jumped to No. 7 in the rankings and improved its record to 4-0. True freshman quarterback Bo Nix is someone you’re going to want to keep an eye on. The 19-year-old Nix has thrown for 645 yards and five touchdowns this season, with no turnovers since the season opener against No. 13 Oregon. The Tigers beat the Ducks, 27-21, in Week 1 after trailing the majority of the game. The Tigers are looking to build off the momentum heading into the gauntlet of their schedule, which includes No 9. Florida, No 4. LSU, No. 3 Georgia and No. 2 Alabama. For now, the focus is on next week when they host Mississippi State.
Chip Kelly can take a sigh of relief. His Bruins beat No. 19 Washington State in a thrilling game after trailing by 32 points with 19 minutes left. The Bruins took advantage of the Cougars’ six turnovers to earn a 67-63 victory and put them in the win column for the first time this season. The shootout goes down in the Pac-12 record books as the highest scoring game in conference history. The win was also the first time UCLA beat a ranked opponent since 2015. The Bruins hit the road again as they head to Tucson and face the University of Arizona on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
