News and notes BAC KG RO UN D C H E C K
The 2018-19 Fiesta Bowl season is finally here! In order to take part in the events this year, ALL volunteers are required to complete a background check and waiver each year (even if you have completed one in previous years, you still must complete a new one each year). We encourage you to go online as soon as possible, as you will not be allowed to volunteer until these items are complete. Click here to get started!
KABOOM! PL AYGROUND BUILD
Join Fiesta Bowl Charities and build a playground in just six hours! On December 1, Fiesta Bowl Charities will build a custom playground for hundreds of Arizona youth at the Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped. Volunteers will construct, paint, build, and once we’re done, celebrate the new playground. If you’re interested in volunteering, sign up here!
ST. M A RY’S F O O D B A N K ALLIANCE TURKEY DISTRIBUTION Join us at the St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance as we distribute turkeys to those who need it on November 20th from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. STAFF SPOTL IGH T: 2018-19 FIE STA BOWL INT ERNS
First Year as a Volunteer: 2018 Positions Held at the Fiesta Bowl: Greens Assistant for the Par 3 Challenge. Most Memorable Moment: To date, watching a golfer almost win a car...only 11-3/4 inches short! Wow! What a shot! I expect lots of memorable moments to come. Favorite Job: Greens Assistant. I look forward to other new, fun jobs. Why do you volunteer for the Fiesta Bowl? The Fiesta Bowl Charities generously donated to the non-profit for which I work, The Centers for Habilitation (TCH). I wanted to give back to the Fiesta Bowl for its kindness. Through this volunteer opportunity I met wonderful staff and Fiesta Bowl and Wells Fargo volunteers. I look forward to many future fun activities with the Fiesta Bowl.

fiesta bowl spotlight CH A RITY S P O T L I G H T: F R A N C ISC AN RENEWAL C E NTE R
For nearly 70 years, the Franciscan Renewal Center has been renewing lives to those who need it, regardless of race, religion or wealth. They do this through the many programs they offer like legal or spiritual counseling, support groups, and their retreats that help people deal with grief, whether it be the loss of a child or a veteran returning from war dealing with the mental and moral scars from it. The Franciscan Renewal Center doesn’t reject anyone due to a lack of funds or if they aren’t of the same religion, the sign in the front of their building speaks for them: “All are Welcome.” To help fund their programs and their facilities, Fiesta Bowl Charities gave Franciscan Renewal Center a grant during the 2018-19 grant cycle.
