Interview with FIGJAM cover girl, Ukranian top model Natalia Pichuhina Tell us about yourself: “Im Natalia, I’m from Ukraine and I’m 19 years old. I’m signed to Mapa Model Management in London. I have been travelling as a model for 3 years. I have been to Milan, Greece, Tokyo, Istanbul, Shanghai and now I’m in Bangkok. I love my job and the travelling. It gives me amazing experiences. I have opportunities to explore different cultures and meet a lot of nice and interesting people”. How did you start modelling? “My story started when I was 11. One day the director of a modelling school noticed me when I was walking down the street with my mother He asked me if I have ever thought about modelling and suggested to meet up the next day. We kept in touch until I grew up a bit, they later found me an agency and that’s how 20

I signed my first contract. My first trip as a model was to Istanbul when I was 16”. What made you decide to become a model? “It became my dream in my childhood, everybody kept telling me that I look like a model. I decided to try it and have never looked back”. What is the best and the worst thing about modelling? “The best thing in modeling is the travelling. I’ve seen a lot of amazing places and for me, thats the best part. The hardest thing is a daily competion amongst all the models. It can be difficult to book jobs as any place you go will be full of amazingly beautiful models. You have to be confident, that’s what will help you in castings”. Tell us about the FIGJAM shoot.

FIGJAM INTERVIEW

“I think it was the most wonderful experience in my life so far. I met up with the FIGJAM team, at the airport in Phuket, Thailand. From there we went onto a marina, where we boarded a Sunsail 444 catamaran. It was my very first time onboard a yacht, and it was an unforgettable week for me.

“I don’t have special secrets. All I do is eating healthy, controlling my portions and of course I move a lot. I love running and walking around the city. That’s what helps me to keep in shape”.

I think it was the perfect place to shoot. We were so inspired by all of these spectacular views and all the beauty of Thai nature, which I am sure helped us make amazing images for the magazine. In between the shooting, we had time to visit the big Buddha, to see James Bond Island, Bamboo Island, and even time to have my first fish spa at PhiPhi Island. We also went to see where the Hollywood movie ‘The Beach’ was filmed”.

“Apart from the FIGJAM shoot, one of my favorite shoots is a campaign I made for Nika clothing in Greece. I was totally in love with the team, the clothes and everything. The shoot happened in Athens, and was shot in an old ‘American Diner’ style restaurant. The place and the whole atmosphere was amazing, It was like being in a scene from Pulp Fiction. Those pictures are still amongst my very favorites”.

Can we expect to see you in FIGJAM in the future?

What are your goals in the future?

“I want to believe that I will shoot for FIGJAM again in the future. It was incredible to work with the such a nice team”.

“I am a bit superstitious, and I don’t like to speak about my goals and dreams beforehand. I think it’s better to keep in your mind. I think that works better for me”.
