About the Conclave

India is a booming market with tremendous promise and potential. It is poised to be the 3rd largest economy by 2025 with an opportunity in almost every industry. The consumer today is very well connected with each other as well as with the companies they patronize. Since there has been a fundamental change in the nature of today’s consumers, which is primarily characterized by their networked nature and high decibel vocalization, marketers have no option but to change their marketing strategies. Traditional approaches are falling by the wayside. New age engagement techniques and tools have become the norm. It is a question of re-engaging with the connected consumer. Significance of e-commerce has become obvious with internet based companies ruling consumer wallets. Marketing is moving into the ‘m’ (mobile) zone where consumer behaviour theories and concepts would have to be rewritten on the basis of app usage. Experiential marketing is moving into the next level of hyper engagement. Customer one on one customization is redefining at the micro level.


The FIIB Marketing Conclave 2015 will bring together the best minds from the e-commerce, FMCG, hospitality, telecom, and a host of other companies whose mantra for success has been the ability to reinvent their marketing strategies to suit the connected consumer of today.

Panel 1: New Horizons of Marketing Marketing has evolved dramatically over the past couple of decades. The rate of change has only accelerated as we move into the mid-2010s. Companies are looking at fresh marketing landscapes: Word of mouse wins over word of mouth; e-wallet wins over plastic cash which beats paper cash; Tier 2 and 3 cities demanding more than Tier 1 cities; single day delivery and no-questions-asked returns; less print ads, more net chatter; less editorials, more chat rooms; two weeks’ lifespans of movies versus 25 years of non-stop Sholay. Marketing has been redefined at the operational level, though at the theoretical level it might have remained rooted to the same fundamentals. This panel will discuss the marriage between new horizons and new initiatives companies are taking to connect with the new emerging marketing horizons. Panel 2: Connected Consumers and Marketing Is the relation between a consumer and a company today being defined beyond the commonly known fact that the power centre has moved in favour of the consumer? What is the nature of this relationship? What are the nerve centres of this association? What are marketers doing to keep networked consumers hooked to their brands in this fluid environment? As marketers increasingly use analytics for decision making, are consumers also becoming more analytics focused? Do they compare prices on dedicated portals that help in the decision making process? Has the decision making process itself undergone a change in this technologically charged era? All this and more such relevant questions will be discussed in this second discussion panel session.

Mr Abhsihek Lal Ecommerce Director Adidas Group India Keynote Speaker - Theme: Reinventing Marketing for Connected Consumers. With over 15+ years of cross-functional work experience, Abhishek Lal has joined Adidas group India as the Ecommerce Director. In Adidas he is currently managing the development and implementation of 360 degree Omni Channel strategy in India. He is responsible for all aspects of enabling Omni Channel commerce success by integrating online (Web/Mobile) to offline (Bricks and Mortar). During his vast career, he has gained expertise in different areas like manufacturing, product development, retail operations, merchandising & Internet marketing. He has worked with major brands like Unilever, Adidas, Puma & Intersport across different geographies like India, Switzerland, Germany, Middle East & Africa. An alumnus of Delhi University (Computer Science), Footwear Design & Development Institute (Footwear Technology) and Faculty of Management Studies (MBA), his in-depth understanding of industry and knowledge about the sector & products is an advantage that he adds to the ventures he works for. Working in Technology, Retail and Sales & Marketing functions, experience in various advance technology platforms, evaluating ability for different technology/E-Commerce platforms, has resulted in successful achievement of the organizations’ business goals wherever he has worked. He has taken his education from National Institute of Fashion Technology. He also has his experience as the Business Head - Satya Paul. Ms. Payel Roy Chaudhary GM-Corp Comm Regional Corporate Sales-North Ms. Chaudhary is a professional with approximately 12 years of experience in sales & marketing, and channel management. Currently she is working with GENERAL MOTORS (Chevrolet Sales India Pvt. Ltd.) as Corporate Manager- North. She is a proactive leader and effective communicator with exceptional relationship management skills and ability to relate to people at all level of business and management. Her Business Skills involve proficiency level at Sales and Marketing, Channel Management and Team Management. She is working as a Regional Corporate Manager taking care of Corporate, Leasing and Government business across North. Prof. Jones Mathew FIIB Prof Jones Mathew has 18 years of corporate experience in multinational (Reebok and HCL) and Indian companies (Sunrise and Hero Group) culminating at the VP (Sales & Marketing) level of a $4bn Hero group company. Product and Brand Management, Vendor Development, Retail Operations and Marketing are his core areas in the corporate domain. He also has four years of academic experience with IILM, GD Goenka-Lancaster University and Jaipuria Institute of Management, NOIDA. Prof Jones is also a marketing consultant in the e-learning


domain and a corporate trainer/MDP facilitator for companies and institutions such as Nokia Siemens Networks, PHD Chamber of Commerce, TERI, Somany Ceramics, New Horizons Education Systems and SR Technologies.

Mr. Yogeshwar Sharma Executive Director Select City Walk Yogeshwar Sharma is executive director, Select Infrastructure, promoters of Delhi’s Select City Walk Mall. Yogeshwar, been associated with the Select City Walk mall since inception. Over the past manyyears with Select City Walk, he handled various portfolios such as legal, leasing, operations, marketing, and business development. Prior to the Select Group, Sharma worked with Fischer India, a 100% subsidiary of Artur Fischer GmbH, Germany for 7 years. He was last associated with the company as Controller –India operations with additional responsibility of Alternate Director. Sharma is a science graduate from Delhi University. He also holds a Masters in International Trade, a Masters in Financial Management and an LLB.

Dr. Nimit Gupta

Associate Professor FIIB Dr. Nimit Gupta, a certified marketing trainer trained by Dr. Philip Kotler has 12 years of experience in teaching and research at different colleges and consulting in the areas of Marketing. He had presented research papers in 18 National and 5 International Seminars including IIM (A), FMS, IIT (M), and IMT and had received Best Paper Presenter Award twice in national seminars. He has published 25 research papers in national and international journals of repute like International Journal of Teaching and Case studies, Abhigyan, Journal of Marketing and Communication, International Journal of Customer Relations to name a few. He is a prolific case writer and his cases are cleared by Case center and are available in their online case repository. His book “Permission Marketing- An Indian Approach” published in Germany and is one of the most sought after book in this area. He has also received several scholastic performance awards like Best Faculty Award, Apar Vishisht Sewa Award , Prime Minister Award, Outstanding contribution in education award to name a few . He is instrumental in organizing MDPs in Marketing Management in association with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India. He had conducted MDPs for organizations like TCI, Coromandel, NFL, etc. as a corporate trainer and is in the Jury Panel of Pearson Teaching Awards, conducted annually. He is also a reviewer and on editorial board of many national and international journals of repute like Journal of Modelling in Management, International Journal of Marketing Studies, International Journal of Online Marketing to name a few.
