FROM OUR TEAM
The Corporate Communications Department is super excited about the latest edition of Fortune Cookies. I thoroughly enjoyed putting this issue together because there were a lot of new things that happened during the course of time. Ms. Swati joined our team and helped us with this issue as an Editor, a new batch of students joined us and the older batch returned with a new experience. Hence, I’d like to believe that this experience was certainly ‘new’ for me too!
Akshita Agrawal Chief Editor- Fortune Cookies It was really a delightful experience while compiling Fortune Cookies of this month, as we gathered exciting and captivating experiences shared by students during Pre-Term and CIP.

My favorite session was the Masterchef game through which we learnt “crisis management” and “Resource Planning”. To plan a 3 course meal with limited ingredients available was the key and helped us realize the importance of planning and time management. Akshay Pratap Singh, Batch 2014-2016
The inauguration session included a guest lecture by Mr. Jyotirmay Jain and a session with the Alumni of FIIB
I thoroughly enjoyed the session with KBC Sir and Vidya Mam where we were asked to create story from some geometric figures given to us and we weaved a story around “global warming”. This activity helped us to learn the importance of Team work in personal and professional life.
Anuja Solanki, Batch 2014-2016 Students also attended a session by Ms Nivedita Pandey, FIIB Alumnus and currently working with Lakme.
Today's session on Public Speaking will help in a lot of ways, particularly me to drive off the fear of facing the public. Faculty gave us many useful tips and encouraged us to speak with confidence in public. I already feel that my stage fright has diminished. Pratik Seth, Batch 2014-2016

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: A Corporate Experience Akanksha (Internship Organization: TouchTalent), Aditya Kaul (Internship Organization: Colgate Palmolive) and Manish Saraswat (Internship Organization: Corporate Shiksha) share their experience of first hand brush with the Corporate during their CIP. Excerpts from the conversation they had with the Team… Through the Internship I realized how personnel skills and emotional quotient is as important as the knowledge of technology and the products we are selling. - Akanksha on being asked what was special about her internship Akanksha and Janis King interned at TouchTalent where the fact that they dint have desks and worked sitting on bean bags, taught them to defy conventional ideas!
What did you learn from CIP? Akanksha: Apart from learning about the importance of taking responsibility and ownership of tasks, respecting deadlines and confidentiality, working with people of different mindset, I got an insight into work culture which was a contradiction to the conventional Aditya: I got practical experience of what I had learnt during my first year. I practiced the art of engaging customers and resolving their apprehensions. I got first hand training on various other aspects of sales like- how to target new customers, how to make sales calls and how to convert prospective clients into confirmed customers. Manish: After my CIP, I have learnt the importance of humility and the need to work in an organized manner. I not only learnt critical aspects of communication but also the importance of feedback. I am now open to critical evaluation and look forward to incorporating it in my daily actions.
How would you describe your CIP Experience? Akanksha: A complete package of work, responsibilities, discipline, deliverables, punctuality, employee - employer trust and exposure. Aditya: Thought changing experience because of the pragmatic experience of hands on training Manish: Doorway to get exposure into the 'Real' Corporate World
I did live blogging at one of the most awaited CEO Dialogue organized by Corporate Shiksha. I had never done live blogging at such a large platform earlier. It was the most challenging task for me till now because I didn’t have the option of ‘undoing’ any action. The task helped me understand my potential and widened my horizons. Manish Saraswat, recounting his experience during CIP

Celebrating 35 glorious years with Fortune… In conversation with Ms. Suman Grover
How has your journey of 35 years with Fortune been? I worked with Fortune Export and Import Business for thirty years and then joined FIIB five years ago. For me, positive working environment and supportive staff are the most important driving forces which has made the journey with Fortune an excellent one! I hope to add to the growth of FIIB in any way I can.
If FIIB promises you 1 wish to be granted, what that will be? My wish list is long but we could get started with having Saturdays' off!
What you do in your free time?
“It is so refreshing to meet Suman maam every day in the morning. The irritation from traffic jam vanishes in a minute the moment I see her!” - Ms. Akshita Agrawal
In office, I prefer to keep myself updated by reading newspaper and magazines regularly. At home, whenever I am free, I spend most of my time exploring my love for cooking and experimenting in the kitchen with new dishes. I search a lot on Internet to get ideas on recipes.
The journey has just begun In conversation with Prof. Vinita Johorey
When did you laugh the hardest while teaching? Once a student looked so shocked when he was confronted with the knowledge that Venezuela is actually a country and not the name of an alien! The laughter quickly gave way to a sharp lesson on fundamental Geography!
According to you, what is that 1 thing students must include in their daily routine? Being curious is the first step to knowing. Having a desire to address that curiosity leads to awareness, learning and knowledge. So reading, communicating and listening….all in equal measure is important.
“Our discussions on politics, movies and Vinita maam’s enlightening opinions on issues around the globe with our morning tea together really builds the momentum for the day. We are so glad to be working with her.” -Ms. Anuja Bedi
Is there anything we should know that we haven’t asked yet? Yes, that my favorite TV show is ‘Big Bang Theory’ and that I wish I was a particle physicist aka Sheldon Cooper.
