Specialized Units

Wrapping up of piloting stage: In IPM Serbia the piloting stage of specialized units was wrapped up with the piloting entities. So a report was created by every entity in the pilot about a description of what happened, the challenges faced and what kind of advice they have for the network. They also reported on the goals they are aiming for through SUs. The information from the reports & from the piloting stage was combined into an “SU booklet”. This booklet is a guidance for the network that includes information from “Why do we need to implement SUs” to “How can I implement SUs in my entity” to “What challenges I might face and how to solve them”. This booklet will be released to the network in Q2. SUs for IT: After IPM the focus is on the implementation stage to support the network in implementing SUs in the right way. AI is implementing a project called “SUs for IT” that aims towards growing OGIP IT in the network. The project was introduced in IPM 2013 and we had 23 entities request to be part of the project. Universities participating in this project were selected after a very detailed research to make sure that those universities have a huge potential to run OGIP IT. Universities confirmed will be working directly with AIESEC International & the GST responsible for GIP IT. They will receive coaching, trainings and guidance on how to manage SUs in their entity and what kind of timelines to follow but they will also receive coaching on how to run OGX specifically for IT.

Expansions GEC: A new expansion committee was created at IPM instead of the Expansions GST. The new team’s name is “GEC” which is “Global Expansions committee”. This new team will be taking more responsibility & ownership over the expansions management in the network. The GEC will be responsible for matching potential expansion managers with potential partner entities and coaching them into the process. They will also follow up on those expansions after they partner together to ensure their growth & sustainability from the beginning. New Expansion process: In IPM the new expansion process was legislated where the country/ territory has to be legislated first by MCPs then with an application the entity can become an expansion initiative then a contracted unit till finally becoming full member. New entities in Q1: Germany & Namibia signed the contract for Namibia to become a contracted unit; same with Brazil & Cape Verde. We approved Barbados & Burundi to become contracted units. Expansion managers attended IPM to align them with global strategies. CEED programme: In IPM we launched a new CEED programme to the network where any expansion can apply for AI to subsidise a CEED to go to that entity and support them with their operations knowledge.
