Innovation Team Key achievements and strategy analysis

The purpose of Innovation team: experimenting with new ways of delivering the AIESEC experience in order to make sure we deliver 1 000 000 experiences by 2015.

Main deliverables: Establishing Innovation in AIESEC The initial role of the Innovation team was to establish a culture of innovation in AIESEC. We needed a main process. And instead of using many complicated models we needed something simple that could unify the innovation team in our approach to projects. We follow an innovation framwork and under each stage of the process we have developed different practices (click on the stage to see more) Hypothesis

We needed a strong purpose and goals. Innovating the AIESEC experience can mean many things and we could get stuck researching everyday without having any tangible results or progress. One of the most important things for our success in last three months was establishing strong sense of the purpose. Question “What is the purpose?” became a regular catch phrase in any of our meetings. Any project that we are running needs to be contributing to our MoS in the long term and needs to be strongly aligned with the AIESEC and AIESEC’s impact model. Innovation team measures its success by the goals of the projects we have selected as the most impactful. For example, the Online Engagement platform based on our research has to bring an audience of 50 000 in the first implementation stage otherwise it cant support us in next years to deliver 1000 000 experiences by 2015. We suggest to an entity that is running innovation initiatives or project to follow a simple process with defined purpose for every project. Contact us with any questions regarding innovation

On the other hand, based on our experience of working on in innovation in AIESEC, the most incredible innovations come from the base level of the organization. Therefore we have decided to establish the Innovation bank, which is a place for collection of all the innovative ideas from AIESEC International and network in general. The Global Innovation Hub team in the Global Support Team is running the Innovation bank. This team will be working on collecting the ideas from the network in next months and selecting the most potential ideas to be run besides the main ideas driven in AIESEC International office.

Running Innovation projects (9 projects of Q3) Technical youth alliance partnerships for GIP EP supply Purpose: To contribute to the growth of our core Global Internship Programme through focused partnership with technical youth organisations. Piloting 15 LC partnerships for 300 EP realisations. Progress: We are exploring partnerships with predominantly european-based youth organisations - BEST, EESTEC, ESTIEM and IEEE. We are piloting a framework with 15 LCs from across a variety of countries to see if we can develop a local model for co-operation with these organisations.

Online Storytelling Platform Purpose: To build a new online product relating to the engagement with AIESEC phase of the AIESEC experience. Enabling AIESEC to attract a student audience OF 50,000 that is interested in exploring new cultures. We aim to attract 2000 of these to the ORS system. Progress: We have completed the research phase of the project and are building a prototype to be launched in November. We are very interested to get feedback from the AIESEC network and for AIESECers to test the platform very soon!! Online Challenge Purpose: To build a new online product relating to the engagement with AIESEC phase of the AIESEC experience. Engaging 50,000 young people online towards a challenge that innovates how we provide practical learning experience to young people. We aim to have 2000 people sign up to an ELD programme as a result. Progress: We have completed the research phase of the project and have a number of concepts for the challenge. We are prospecting partners for the platform and are now evaluating whether to take this project forward into the piloting phase of the innovation framework. Raising Global Internship Programme through Alumni Purpose: To contribute to our growth in Global Internship Programme by creating a sub-product for our Alumni and realizing 1 000 GIP by 1t July 2013 (new partnerships, not re-raised). Progress: We have built the Online Registration System (ORS) for Alumni to show interest in raising TN without AIESEC contacting them. Currently we are updating the webpage and creating a campaign to promote the general understanding of raising GIP TNs among Alumni. Meanwhile we are developing a database of our Alumni to be able to segment and create a sub-product by January. See video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_0pnZtVPec&feature=plcp

Building reputation through Alumni Purpose: To contribute to our reputation building by capitalizing on showcasing the stories and profiles of our Alumni. 100 000 members on AIESEC Alumni Global and 20 000 people traffic to aiesec.org from LinkedIn are the goals we are striving for. Progress: We are working on supporting more Alumni to become part of LinkedIn group by using the offline databases and unifying of other social groups. In order to develop the relevance of the group we are working on partnership with LinkedIn and development of the structure and content of AIESEC Alumni Global group and AIESEC page while linking it directly to aiesec.org. Exchange Process Optimization Purpose: In order to deliver 1 Million experiences until 2015, we have to become ten times faster in exchange process optimization. This project aims to reach 100% realization rate, 15 days GCDP matching, 30 days GIP matching and 30 days as average realization time. Progress: In the course of previous weeks we collected practices from 10 AIESEC entities, conducted internal and external analysis, asked consultancy from experts, selected a GST to support the initiative and created a proposal and implementation plan.

Sub-product Evolution Purpose: We have to develop more sub-products until 2015, therefore starting with GIP we aim to bring breakthrough for the tourism and engineering product by realizing 500-500 realizations. Progress: We conducted internal and external analysis, discovered key practices from the network in order to build a network for each sub-product with business models, targets, exact supply and demand entities.

Customer Experience Evolution Purpose: Customer experience is the main source of innovation. We aim to develop customer experience analysis activities in order to have one innovation project on customer experience evolution. Progress: We built knowledge about customer experience, provided data analysis for AI and pilot entities, collected all kind of changes in the system and operation to have a better data asset for the future.

Increasing AIESECs Competitive Advantage Purpose: Create competitive analysis for our programmes, organization in order to increase our impact model and the competitive advantage of our strategies. Progress: We built up a competitive analysis concept based on external resources and the initial documents of the period 1999-2012. We developed initial strategies and focus point of the project.
