SEMFA: Music Festival 2023

South Eastman Filipino Association (SEMFA) has successfully produced the first-ever Music Festival in Steinbach, Manitoba. It was a great way to showcase all the local talents in Steinbach. This program was already proposed to the council last 2022, but all officers were uncomfortable pushing it through because they still needed to learn how much people would love this event and needed more funding. After the Holiday Party last year, SEMFA officers have seen the possibility and potential of having a music festival in Steinbach. It was a difficult decision when proposing an event like this as a small non-profit organization. However, with the help of annual sponsors, local businesses, volunteers, families and friends, we knew everything was possible.

It was an exciting feeling to see all the talents that our little community has. This Music Festival was not only about Rock and Roll bands, but we had different genres such as Acoustic, Solo Piano, Slow Rock, Showband, Rock etc. We also had three local food vendors to sell their specialties like Tita A’s Kitchen with their famous Cajun Shrimp and Mussels Combo, Goto Republik with their famous Gotong Batangas, Arroz Caldo and finally, Dyna’s famous Ilocos Empanada, Royal bibingka and Cassava cake. These three vendors did a great job of bringing out our favourite foodies while witnessing the fantastic talents of the ten performers.

SEMFA's President Greg Carlos and his officers were very grateful to all those who supported this event, and we hope to have more events like this to empower our local talents and build a strong community in the Southeast region of Manitoba.
