Sabi sa isang quote card, “A good father is a man who supports his children even when he has no money.” Kasunod nito ang isa pang quote card, “There is a big difference between ‘CAN’T’ and IT ISNT JUST A HIGH PRIORITY.”

Sagot ng aktres, “Thanks for the advice. Have been doing that for the past years! “Unfortunately, walang positive effect. “The more na nagiging grabe dahil palagi kaming nagpapasensya, tumatahimik at nagbibigay.”

Filing a motion again soon.”

Robin Padilla mocks Sen.

Filipino Star Magazine. Vancouver Edition. September-October 2018 Dagdag pa ni Trillanes, “Parang bata. It’s too petty, e. We’re dealing with national problems here, ‘tapos you have immature people like that.”

hints at husband Dingdong Dantes’s political plans

I

Maiksing sagot nito, “Soon, very soon.”

Vina Morales reveals freezing her eggs for future use: “Investment talaga kasi mahal siya.”

V

ina Morales, 42, admits freezing her eggs.

The process, she says, costs around half a million pesos, excluding the annual storage fees. Also known as mature oocyte cryopreservation, Mayo Clinic describes it as a method where “eggs are harvested from ovaries, frozen unfertilized, and stored for later use.” Once the woman is ready to get pregnant, her frozen egg “can be thawed, combined with sperm in a lab, and implanted in her uterus through in vitro fertilization.” Vina tells members of the press, “Investment talaga kasi mahal siya.” This interview takes place on September 4, at the pocket presscon for the 20th anniversary of Ystilo, the salon she co-owns with her sisters. She continues, “Oo, suwerte ako, I was able to save seven, healthy siya. Pero yung pangalawa wala, hindi siya healthy.”

The Araw Gabi actress says she did not really go into the nitty-gritty of how it is done. “Hindi ko pa masyadong inaaral, sa akin lang, I have to save. “Ako, puwede pa naman ako [mabuntis], it’s just that, maybe in the future. According to some studies, the eggs of women deteriorate with age. Vina’s daughter Ceana is nine, and she wants her to be prepared when the right time comes. “Gusto ko nang iparamdam sa kanya na I also want to have another kid.” www.filipinostarmagazine.com

So, how does her unica hija feel about having a sibling? “Tumatawa lang, hindi siya yung nagsasabi na, ‘Oo, Mommy, I want, I want.’ Hindi siya super excited. “Siyempre nasanay na siya na siya lang for nine years, lahat ng atensiyon ko [sa kanya]. But in the meantime, the search for the one is on. Laughing, she ends, “Yun nga lang wala pa, wala pa akong partner.” Aside from being an actress and a mom, Vina is also a businesswoman. The salon she started in August 1999 has now expanded to 20 branches around the country. PHOTOS: PEP.PH Taken by Noel Orsal and Arniel Serato

“All I can say is that I have the highest respect for her and her family and… I will treasure everything,” sabi ni Jolo, na nabasag ang boses at pinigilan ang pagtulo ng luha.

“Ako mismo ang nakipag-usap sa kanya. We’re friends, we’re good friends.

She’s very jolly.”

“Nag-uusap naman kami ni Lovi.

COVER STORY

Filipino Star Magazine. Vancouver Edition. September-October 2018

TO LOVE AGAIN... SINGER & HIT MAKER www.filipinostarmagazine.com

Filipino Star Magazine. Vancouver Edition. September-October 2018

O

dette Quesada is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter and record producer whose songs ruled the Philippine’s airwaves in the 1980’s. She was barely out of her teens when she became the country’s most sought-after hitmaker. Odette’s songs have stood the test of time and have been recorded, covered and revived through the years by numerous artists such as Ric Segreto, Kuh Ledesma, Gary Valenciano, Raymond Lauchengco, Sharon Cuneta, Lea Salonga, Lani Misalucha, Jed Madela and Angeline Quinto, to name a few. Odette was one of the recipients of FILSCAP’S (Filipino Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers), a Performing Rights Society, LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. “Don’ t know what to do” as interpreted by Ric Segreto is my favorite. I wrote it on my 17th bday. A lot of people don’t know that Odette Quesada was married to Bodjie Dasig, who passed away in 2012. Bodjie was a Filipino singer, songwriter and music producer, well known for the songs Alé [nasa langit na ba ako] and Maáalala Mo Pa Rin for singer Richard Reynoso, and Ayoko na Sana for Ariel Rivera. He also wrote and sang the hit song Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko for his band Bodjie’s Law of Gravity, which became the theme song of a movie with the same name in 1994. “To Love Again” is actually the title of Odette’s favorite song, which she composed for Sharon Cuneta. Her list of hit songs include “Till I Met You” sung by Kuh Ledesma, “A Friend of Mine” is sung by herself and “Growing Up” sung by Gary Valenciano. “I have taken Fountain of Youth Collagen, daily for a little over a year now. Most people have commented about my youthful glow. I myself can attest to weight control since I have started on it. I have maintained the same weight, give or take a few pounds on and off. My day is incomplete without drinking it in my coffee. I always have it for breakfast everyday! It’s my good friend Fe delos Reyes who I have to thank for introducing me to Fountain of Youth Collagen. Just a few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Z, the Kitchen Alchemist herself, who designs functional food. For upcoming shows I have Serenata, Oct 7 at the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Lolaland with Fe De Los Reyes on Oct 13, in San Leandro, California, and I have a fund raiser show on Dec 2 at Josephine’s in Cerritos California. We are also excited to be doing a Valentines show in Vancouver in 2019. Watch out for details at www.kaplaza.org.”

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies. It is found in our muscles, bones, skin and tendons and is referred to as the ‘glue’ that helps hold the body together. It also gives our skin strength and elasticity, and helps replace dead skin cells.

WHY DO WE NEED COLLAGEN As we age, our body’s collagen production naturally slows down. It is easy to tell as it can be seen through sagging skin, wrinkles and weaker cartilage in our joints. Our body’s collagen production can further be slowed down when we smoke, expose ourselves to sun and eat food that are high in sugar.

The most abundant type of collagen in the human body. It plays a role in the formation and overall health of the skin, reticular fiber, vascular ligature, placenta, organs, bone (main component of the organic part of bone) and teeth (dentin).

Type 3

A protein that is found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lungs and the vascular system often in association with Type 1 collagen. It is the 2nd most abundant collagen of soft tissues and dominates early phases of wound healing and granulation tissue formation. Secreted by fibroblasts and other mesenchymal cell types, thus making it a major player in various inflammation-associated pathologies such as lung injury, viral and non-viral liver diseases, kidney fibrosis, hernia, and vascular disorders.

t’s time to bring the fragmented communities of our city together. A vote for Khan is a vote for a unified Vancouver, a city with its own independent voice that needs a government that works for the many, not the few. While having these heart to hearts, Khan started to realize both the disconnect between Vancouver’s communities as well as the disconnect between the people and City Hall. Seeing the problems and knowing that he can make a difference, Khan stepped in and joined some of the cities biggest conversations. He opened the doors of his religious community centre to those in need of shelter in the freezing winter storms of 2017, and brought 1500 people together in front of a blazing Olympic Cauldron to rally the City in commemoration of innocent lives lost to a lone wolf gunman.

Kanye West Melts down live on TMZ The Most Intense Moments

K

anye West has taken his thoughts from Twitter to the small screen today, taking over an episode of TMZ Live with Harvey Levinalongside conservative commentator Candace Owens. West touched on some of the controversial statements he’s made over the past week, including his thoughts on Donald Trump, and created some new ones along the way, including his thoughts on slavery. Let’s dive in! “When you hear about slavery for 400 years—for 400 years?!” he said. “That sounds like a choice. Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally in prison.”

Looking for a make up artist for weddings or a special event? @FacesByNat

West also explained his thought process behind wearing his signed “Make America Great Again” hat so publicly. Last week, West posted photos of himself wearing the hat, and was photographed outside in Los Angeles while wearing it. “It was really just my subconscious. It was a feeling I had, you know. Like, people — we’re taught how to think. We’re taught how to feel. We don’t know how to think for ourselves. We don’t know how to feel for ourselves. People say “feel free,” but they don’t really want us to feel free. I felt a freedom.” He then turned to the hip-hop community’s opinions of Trump, saying that he was “one of rap’s favorite people” before he became president. “I just love Trump. That’s my boy. You know, so many rappers—you look at a video of Snoop Dogg lovin’ Trump, but then he get in the office and now they don’t love him. Trump is one of rap’s favorite people.”

Not everyone in the TMZ newsroom was thrilled with West’s appearance. TMZ reporter Van Lathan shot back at West, expressing his disappointment in his recent comments, sparking a debate with him across the office.

Traditional “hilot”, Swedish, Shiatsu Home service or in-centre at Suter Brook Offices, 612-220 Brew Street, Port Moody

“I actually don’t think you’re thinking anything,” Lathan interjected. “I think what you’re doing right now is actually the absence of thought. And the reason why I feel like that is because, Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion. You’re entitled to believe whatever you want. But there is fact, and real-world, real-life consequence behind everything that you just said. And while you are making music and being an artist and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives. We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said, for our people, was a choice. Frankly, I’m disappointed, I’m appalled and, brother, I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something, to me, that’s not real.” West then walked over to Lathan’s desk, saying, “I’m sorry I hurt you,” while Lathan reiterated, “Bro, you’ve got to be responsible. Your voice is too big.”

This year, Councillor Royer introduced a resolution to postpone Council’s decision on the sale of Public Lands. In an effort to fully engage residents, she proposed the referendum that will appear on your ballot as a “Community Opinion Question”. She feels strongly that publicly held lands in the heart of Port Moody must be preserved for public amenities, and be available for the evolving needs of our community, well into the future.

During construction of their sustainable home, Zoë Royer and her husband invited neighbours into the design process. She believes in building quality, eco-friendly homes in a way that is sensitive to one’s neighbours. Zoë also delivered lectures to architects, engineers and builders on sustainable construction. Filipino Star Magazine. Vancouver Edition. September-October 2018

HOROSCOPE - SEPTEMBER 2018 Aries, reaching and testing your limits, that is the horoscope’s message for September 2018. But what that means? Whether by your own will or by unforeseen circumstances, you will test the limits of your own mental and physical endurance and capabilities. Simplification, competition and building of bridges. These are the three important “movers” for Taurus during September. People born in Taurus should show more effort to make things easier, rather than desperately trying to double the capacity of the diary in an hopeless effort to “blow up” the day to 48 hours.

ASTROTWINS, ASTROLOGY FORECAST

In September, Leo’s desire will be the overall perfection. You are longing to look great on social networks, on photos, as well as in everyday reality. Perfect appearance and superb performance could this time serve as a complete synonym for this zodiac sign. What is it to feel like a slave? This question will surely touch Virgo’s heart during September. You appreciate helping others, loving justice, admiring fair play or being precise at work. But September 2018 may question all of that. What if (at work, in marriage, love ...) are the “forces” not as balanced as you have been thinking?

Saving, exact calculation and putting more pressure – Sagittarius, that’s the main recommendation for successful September. You should definitely not support debt and large household spending this month. . If your fridge gets broken, you certainly don’t have to worry about the new one and buy what you want. Capricorn should be alert in September. Fortune may show you the adverse side. But don’t panic. The horoscope suggests that it is better to be cautious now, because your luck is now very „vibrant” and unstable. If you forgot the name of your GP, it’s surely the right time to take a preventive medical checkup.

The taste of Gemini will be outstanding in September. Also your aesthetic feeling may reach the absolute peak. You could immediately become the Editor-inChief of the Vogue magazine, or you could shine as the brightest star of Food or Gourmet magazines.

Mission impossible - do you know the movie (Tom Cruise)? Don’t worry, Libra, in September you will not find any hard, let alone impossible, mission. On the contrary, green checkmarks, which you like to make on completed tasks, will now grow like grass after a spring rain!

Aquarius will be an ideal advisor or an impartial judge in September. The horoscope highlights the ability of all people born in this sign to (figuratively speaking) “draw a map”, according to which others can easily find the right path and solve many seemingly hopeless situations.

The 2018 September Horoscope tells Cancer that a period full of your biting remarks is very close. In other words, Cancer, your criticism, though well intended, does not symbolize the necessary “fertile soil” for flawless communication. In matters of love and relationship you may argue over the imaginary “crown and sceptre”; what, of course, is not the best way to achieve desired mental peace.

The horoscope tells Scorpio that September is the right time to stretch your wings and start to fly into the world. Scorpio, according to the horoscope, September will dominated by your ability to be guided by heart, rather than by rationality. There comes a time when it is more important how you feel and experience things, rather than if everything seems to be fine according to some abstract and logical plan.

People born in Pisces, according to the horoscope, will focus on establishing new relations and strengthening existing friendships in September. Do you want to become a hermit or Robinson Crusoe on a desert island? Please postpone this idea for later! After few days of loneliness, you would get a terrible headache from such communication vacuum.
