FOREWORD
This report is prepared monthly, by the Division of Statistics and Reports of the Mutual Security Agency. The. charts and tables included herei~ summarize important activities under the economic assistance and defense, support programs of the Mutual Security Agency rand its predecessor, the Economic Cooperation Administration, through June 30, 195.2. .'
,EUROPEAN OPERATIONS ChaI;'ts and appendix tables on the European Program cover MSA/ECA operati.ons beginning with April 3, 1948, the date of enactment of the 'Economic Cooperation Act of 1948. The, totals for allotments, procurement authorizations, and paid shipments include Mutual Defense Assistance Program funds transferred to MSAlECA beginning with the fiscal year July 1, 1950 - June 30,1951. They do not include MDAP fiscal year 1950 funds assigned to ECA, since these earlier funds ,were not' con, sidered part Of "coWltry aid n totals. Appendix statements covering fiscal year 1952 are based on net activity beginning with .July 1. 1951, computed by subtraction of cumulative data by country and commodity as of June 30, 1951, fromcumula'tive data as of June 30, ~952.This is,a distinct departure frOlD the technique of calculating fiscal 1952 'activity as shown in this report between July and November 1951 inclusive. Dur41g that period, the statements covering "fiscal 1952" included only the new authorizations or expenditures against hew ~ut~orizations issued with new serial numbers beginning with July 1; this excluded all increase's and decreases which had, occured during fiscal 1952, in authorizations or expenditures against authorizations ,issued prior to July I, 1951. FAR EAST OPERATIONS Charts and appendix tables on the Far East Program cover MSA/ECA operations under the China Area Aid Act of 1950, approvBd by the President on June 5, 1950. The coverage differs from that for Europe in that the statements include amounts for technical assistance in addition to amounts for commodities and ocean freight. Appendix statements covering fiscal year 1952 are based, on net activity beginning with July I, 1951, computed by subtraction of cumulative' data by country: and commodity as of June 30. 1951 from cumulative data as of June 30.1952.
