Our events are always held in one location, and over the past 15 years of developing the Festivals, I have found that this format works very well. Having all the filmmakers and professionals mixing together makes for an ideal fun and professional environment.

For the filmmaker, this helps them engage at all of our Festivals, which then allows them to make new contacts and the possibility to do business with each other in the future.

Our Festivals open with a meet and greet, which is an informal gathering. For filmmakers, this is a great chance to mix and socialize with other filmmakers and scriptwriters from all over the world. Of course, we are open to the public but this is not our only consideration – we are keen that this is the start of a journey for you.

We have with us the support of industry professionals Brad Blain & Neil McEwan and Ray Davis and Gary Maddison. Gary who was part of the Oscar and Bafta winning VFX team for Interstellar and Oscar winning team of Ex-Machina will be presenting a Colourist and Colour Workflow presentation at 10am on Saturday the 18th of May. We are honored to have such wonderful professionals who are readily available with advice on your project and can help with any questions you may have.

With a back-to-back screening programme, we have multiple screening rooms to showcase the incredible amount of talent that has been nominated at this year’s Nice festival.

Other than our red-carpet Awards Evening on Saturday the 18th of May, all of the events that we offer are free to all attending filmmakers and guests – screenings, meetings, filmed interviews, networking panels and so on. However, for the Awards Evening there is no obligation to attend, although of course we would be delighted to see you at any point during the week.

THE USUKE BOYS The director & key cast members of this unique film talk about the world of wine.

An interview with DIRECTOR YUJI KAZIZAKI FTM: First, I want to say congratulations on such a great film. The style, the music the scenery the dialogue and the message all worked so well. The film is about the process of wine making and making the ideal wine. Can you compare this to the process of filmmaking?

YK: When making wine, first you select the plot of land in the beginning. In film terms, it is the same as searching for an original work or story. Then, you decide what grapes to grow. That’s the same as deciding what kind of actors to cast. As for distillation with the harvested grapes, it is the same as the editing and directing process. Finally, the finished wine or film is just like a single ‘work’.

FTM: What fascinated you about Japanese wine and the Usuke Boys?

YK: In Japan, the soil where wine is grown is different to that of Europe, American and South America. In Japan the humidity is heavy, it rains a lot in summer, and the soil is said to be very hard to cultivate wine grapes. Some ten years ago, the megatrend in Japanese wine was importing fruit juice from overseas, adding water and fermenting this into wine. For the most part, Japanese wine lovers drank imported wine. But then, a man Usuke Asai burst on the scene saying that the land that every one thought was not suited for grape cultivation might not be the case. The performance of soil is known as terrior. Asai’s belief was that ‘terrior’ is defined by not only the land but by the people who cultivate it. Clinging to these words and believing these words, a young group of Japanese is making today’s wines. Of course, while the environment in Japan is much more harsh compared to places like France, Italy and Spain, with passion and sincerity, they were able to create wonderful wine that is not embarrassing on a world stage.

FTM: You used familiar actors that you have used before in this film. How did you go about casting the other characters especially the character of Okamura?

YK: Dai Watanabe, who plays the role of Okamura, is the son of Ken Watanabe.

Actually, over thirty years ago, I co-starred with him and have respected him as an actor since then. When I met his son Dai, I sensed he was a wonderful actor in the power in his eyes and his overall presence, which was not outdone by his father. I was convinced that if it was him, he could play this role well and make it his own so I asked him to appear as the lead.

FTM: When shooting this film, what scene sticks out most in your mind?

YK: In the film, since we filmed in actual fields and actual buildings and in the real wine environment, every scene leaves a deep impression. If I have to select a theme, what was most memorable for me was being able to incorporate the ideology of wind, forest, fire and mountains, which existed 450 years ago in Japan into the scenes.

FTM: As a director, what is the thing you most wanted to tell the audience of this film and why did you think about making this story into a movie?

YK: While I am Japanese and this is a work is a Japanese film, when I was making the film with people from around the world I felt that we people of the world are not divided by race or nationality, as wine is something that is produced and drunk around the world. As for the merits of the film, there are many.

The culture of wine in Europe, which attained greatness, was adopted in Japan and enjoying wine is the same as enjoying Western culture.

On the contrary, in Japan a breed of grapes called Koshu exist and these Koshu existed some 1000 years ago in Japan. Using their special skills, now, Japan is successful at producing wine even though it was said to be almost impossible.

Japanese people have certain greatness in their techniques and passion as well. This is our identity and proof that we have become a part of Western culture. Instead of quarreling that our culture is different, I feel it is better to say that we are one culture that have shared and interchanged or it is most important that we appreciate each other. To European audiences, wine may not equal Japan in their minds. And that is the biggest reason for making this film. I hope that you all will enjoy Japanese wine.

DW: About 14 years ago when I reached the age where I was able to enjoy drinking, there was little opportunity to drink Japanese made wine and restaurants and bars hardly carried it either. That awareness had not changed since being involved in this film. I never thought there were people creating wine in Japan on a worldwide level. But after reading the script, my conceptions were flipped upside down. I thought what a waste if this wonderful story is not told and wanted to get shooting.

FTM: Your character was great and showed true dedication in educating himself and understanding the process of making wine. Can you relate this to film and being a better actor?

DW: Before shooting, I spent time in the fields with the character that Okamura is based on. I studied how he dealt with nature, the fields, the grapes and wine. He was a very silent person and did not say much. I felt and learned to appreciate the strength in his stillness, as he stood silent in the fields. In order to put what I felt in the fields into this film, I think he totally influenced me. I also learned a great deal about lots of wine from director Kakizaki who made this film. I was able to drink and gain knowledge. Instead of being a good actor in this film, I become a good brewer.

FTM: Did you find yourself more intrigued about the wine making process as the filming went on?

DW: Since participating in this film, I was able to fully learn the depth of wine. At the same time, I fully realized the pain in making wine.

Maybe just drinking wine suits my personality better (laughing). But if the opportunity arises, my hope is to make wine and drink it myself.

FTM: At the start of the film everyone is in a wine club.

Have you ever been part of any clubs yourself?

DW: Until the filming, I had not been a big drinker. But thanks to the film, my co-stars in The Usuke Boys have frequently enjoyed drinking wine together. Also, now, the overall degree of recognition for Japanese wine has risen but it is still not there. When I drink with other people, I recommend Japanese wine and hope to contribute a bit to the spread of its popularity. I’d like to establish a wine club and be the presenter to help the spread of Japanese wine.

MD: I wanted to be a part of this film and studied to do so. When I got the offer from director Kakizaki and received the script, I was engulfed by an indescribable desire. At the same time, this was the first time to be in a film with wine as the theme. The pressure germinated inside me to play the actual people who have built up Japanese wine culture and are active today.

FTM: You always bring great emotion to the roles you play, how did you prepare for this one?

MD: I asked director Kakizaki about what I didn’t understand. The director made it possible for me to meet the person that my role was based on. I was able to see that person at work tending his fields and making wine in his distillery. I talked to him for a long time. What he said and thought influenced me in playing the role. I told the director how I wanted to play the role and played it.

FTM: Did you ever have days on set where you felt that you had drunk too much or were you always in control?

MD: Basically, I’m not the type of person who can drink enough to lose self-control.

Actually, I was never able to drink much. But when I heard from director Kakizaki before that he might depict a film about wine, I started drinking wine to prepare. And now, I enjoy drinking wine alone in my home.

FTM: At the start of the film everyone is in a wine club. Have you ever been part of any clubs yourself?

MD: I have never been a member. During filming and after filming, the director created the chance for us to enjoy wine. Among the actors, the chance to enjoy wine together has increased too. Each day after filming, I’d return to the hotel, buy some wine and drink it with everyone. Since wrapping the picture and returning to Tokyo, I have gathered at my house and the homes of fellow actors bringing wine and drinking together. Wine connects people and actors together and in that sense this is a wonderful film.

An interview with ACTRESS YUKA TAKESHIMA FTM: When you saw the script, did it excite you to be part of such a beautiful story?

YT: Yes, I was very excited. Before appearing in this film, I did not know much about Japanese wine. My image of Japanese wine was that it was drunk by only a handful of people who were very status-conscious. From common sense about the world, Japan is not a wine country. I was seriously shocked to learn that Japanese people existed who were risking their livelihoods to create wine on a worldwide level.

I was deeply moved to be able to present the lives of these people to the world in this film.

FTM: In the film your character feels ‘used’ when she is seen as just an employee, this scene has a lot of emotion, how did you prepare for this?

YT: My character is modeled after an actual person. Since this person actually experienced the same thing, before filming, I met the person and heard about various things. The husband of the person that I played said that at the time he thought she would never recover from the experience and was completely devastated.

In some sense, this is still a trauma in her life and when I learned that, I wanted to help her overcome her trauma via my performance in the role. I was unable to fully recall the conversation we had at the time, but after going to their home, meeting them and having meals together as well as making wine, going to the fields and sharing as much time as possible, I was able to create my character based on our conversations, her thoughts towards wine and her pride in the world she had done.

FTM: Did you find yourself more intrigued about the wine making process as the filming went on?

YT: I became very interested. I think the process of winemaking and being an actor in the business is very similar. In preparing for the role, I thought that in this film each actor was like a grape. And when mixed together and fermented the wine that is made in the end… this fresh wine can be enjoyed and after ten or twenty years this wine and the film itself can be enjoyed. In the same way that wine is made, I feel that I am alive as part of it. I totally agree with the idea that creating a good work or good wine is the same. From here on out, I wonder what kind of wine the woman that my character is based on will create. I’d like to keep my eye on her for a long time. As for my thoughts on wine, I’d like to keep studying and keep drinking and hope to share my life with wine.

FTM: At the start of the film everyone is in a wine club. Have you ever been part of any clubs yourself?

YT: No, I had not been in one. But the director got to know Japanese wine about three years ago. I was there at the time as well and started to have an interest in Japanese wine.

The director and other friends as well started to drink wine on a daily basis. Since then I have tasted all kinds of wine.

work and carefully cultivated their wine as if they were raising children. In the end, it really piqued my interest in making wine.

FTM: When you saw the script, did it excite you to be part of such a beautiful story?

FTM: Your role was the daughter of Usuke Asai, an actual pioneer of a Japanese wine.

Did you pay special attention in preparing for this role?

TI: I was surprised and moved that these kind of people where in Japan and felt so strongly about wine. Generally, we had never seen the process for making wine and did not know much about it. Normally, I had only had the pleasure of drinking this delicious wine.

The biggest appeal for me was to learn the backstory into how this wine is made.

TI: Since I was unable to actually meet the person that my role is based one, I had to imagine what she was like. I imagined that her family must get along well and that she must have praised and supported her father in his life long devotion to his work and played the role accordingly.

FTM: When watching this movie, what scene impresses you the most?

FTM: Did you find yourself more intrigued about the wine making process as the filming went on?

TI: It is very hard to come up with just one, but if I have to then it would be when Dai Watanabe playing the role of Okamura is successful in cultivating wine grapes. In this scene he is rewarded for his hardships, so I think as a human we can appreciate this to a great extent.

TI: I didn’t get to go see the fermentation, but I heard from the other actors, read books about it and thought, “I see so this is how wine is made”. I learned quite well that all the brewers poured their hearts into their

THE USUKE BOYS - THE STORY A story about the Japanese winemaking industry, the film is based on the award-winning non-fiction book, Usuke Boys: Nippon Wine no Kakumei Ko-tachi by Kaori Kawai, that was published in 2010.

The Usuke Boys follows the efforts of people trying to make high quality wine in Japan. Okamura (Dai Watanabe), Shiroyama (Masayuki Deai), Kamimura (Yuka Takeshima), Takayama (Kenta Uchino) and Itoh (Satoshi Judai) meet regularly at a group for wine experts, where they enjoy sampling wines from all over the world. When they encounter one of the world’s best wines, the Kikyogahara Merlot, produced in Japan by Usuke Asai (Isao Hashizume), they realise that Japanese grapes are just as flavoursome as those from Europe.

So full of admiration are they for this inspirational winemaker and his wonderful Merlot, they decide to change their lives. Okamura quits his job and plans to make wine by renting some land to raise grapes with the help of Itoh and Uemera and other college classmates. Meanwhile, Shiroyama starts cultivating wine grapes at a fruit grape farm owned by his wife’s family. And taking over his family winery, Takayama overcomes his parent’s objection to him raising wine grapes. Under Asia’s guidance, as these winemakers implement his methods, they start to make great wine.

FROM HOMELESS TO HOLLYWOOD

MEET TONY J. SELIMI

events are in as much danger of indulging in caricature and ham-handed dialogue as anything from the realm of pure fiction.

Three decades is what it took for Tony to go from living homeless, to becoming a multiaward-winning filmmaker in Hollywood.

Tony Jeton Selimi spent over two decades working in business private and public sectors, managing large teams and leading multi-million-pound technology programs before pursuing his calling to travel the world, teach, educate and transform the lives of one billion people. I met up with Tony in London to find out how someone born in the remote town of Gostivar, Macedonia makes it to Hollywood.

As a child, Tony was an ordinary boy who loved to dream about being a doctor, a scientist, an engineer, a writer and captain of a spaceship.

He was born into a hard-working family whose main objective was to ensure he got the best education. Unbeknown to his family, at the age of five he was sexually abused, causing emotional and mental troublings, and due to illness at the age of ten he almost died.

Throughout his primary and secondary education, he was bullied for being different and not conforming to the societal norms that promoted inequality and demonised sexuality.

To free himself from the pain he felt deep inside, he drove himself to study and become one of the best students in every school he attended. Tony received various achievement awards in science, physics and maths, and in 1998 he earned a place to study at one of the top engineering universities in Zagreb, Croatia.

This happiness was short-lived, as in the summer of 1989 the Yugoslav civil war fell upon his country and he was forced to join the army and fight his own people. Miraculously his life was saved in 1990 when his mother put him on a one-way flight to London.

Adrift, after being faced with such trauma, he found himself homeless and alone, desperate and helpless with no one to turn to for help.

He would stare in the mirror at the person trying to heal his excruciating pain, and educated himself to climb the corporate ladder, and fill the voids he felt inside.

prospect of living homeless again, he took time to re-assess, reflect and decided to make a bold move and start his own business.

Looking back, he realized that every misfortune was a stepping stone to bring him joy, wisdom, connection, courage and certainty following his troubled upbringing.

He knew that it was time to write a life manual, that as a child, he used to dream about. Using everything he had learnt, he extracted a robust conscious framework for overcoming personal challenges, healing the body-mind and awakening one’s true greatness.

Sin novedad (No News) is a 2017 Spanish psychological and social drama film. It’s the debut feature of Spanish writer and director Miguel Berzal de Miguel (1991). The film, starring Silvia Espigado, was premiered at Alicante International Film Festival in 2018.

the drifting post Directed by Kento Shimizu This is a true story that took place in a devastated area. Having lost her friend Kyoko in the Great Tohoku (East Japan) Earthquake, Nozomi lives her life, but in her heart she still can’t come to terms with her friend’s death.

One day, Nozomi finds a time capsule they both buried when they were students that contains letters that were written to their future selves. It brings back Nozomi’s beautiful memories and the guilt over an irreparable mistake that she still regrets.

As she thinks about the past, she finds out about ‘The Drifting Post’, a mailbox that receives letters containing undelivered words and feelings to those who died in the earthquake.

To move on from her past, Nozomi decides to deliver a letter to Kyoko and sets out for ‘The Drifting Post’, built in the mountain side in Yamagata Prefecture. There are around 500 letters delivered to ‘The Drifting Post’, all of them written by people who have lost an important person in the disaster and are still seeking to be healed. It is thought that writing these letters can ease people’s sorrow and help them to face their future.

through the post. I then used their true story to make my film. All the letters that appeared in the film are real letters. Through them, I was able to emphasise the true extent of what happened in the disaster.

From my own experiences, I was worried about the memories of the disaster fading away. When I worked as an assistant, I knew of ‘The Drifting Post’, so I contacted to Mr. Akagawa who holds the post. I wanted to make the movie that could not only ease people’s sorrow but stop memories fading away. It was this motivation that inspired me to make this movie. I did a lot of interviews with people who visit ‘The Drifting Post’ and send letters

Through focusing on people who were injured by the disaster, we learn that our daily lives are precious and yet people don’t seem to mind how fragile it is. Therefore, it is difficult for people to accept the reality when their important person loses their precious life.

When I conducted interviews with the people who wrote the letters, all the actors joined us so they could face the reality and make full use of the humanity they were witness to.

However, finally, there will come a time when they accept everything, when they need to live their lives because of this loss of life, time and themselves.

Now someone may ask, “how is this script different compared to other biopics and war movies?” The answer is that firstly, there aren’t many movies that address this part of WW2 in Europe: The Italian Campaign has been overlooked in the worldwide cinema and there are few movies about it – the last one possibly being Miracle at St. Anna by Spike Lee, in 2008.

Our world, since humans took over, has billions of heroes in its story. Generals who conquered lands, kings who expanded their empires, but also simple men who fought giving it all they had for their country. This script is based on this last case.

To Hell and Back is based on Audie Murphy’s biography, about his experience during the campaigns of Italy and Southern France. Even though he was rejected from some corps, once in the army he proved himself and the rest of his squad, a valuable fighter and commander, becoming at the end of the war ‘the most decorated soldier of WW2’.

While the book was already made into a movie in the 1950s, the script adaptation I made is not only about him, but about his comrades and friends. It’s also about how

Ultimately, the goal of the film was not to glorify the main characters or condemn the ‘villains’ of the story – not even to make military propaganda – my purpose was to make a faithful adaptation of a book I loved, giving space to all the characters in it, all the while keeping in mind that some of them were real people who died.

Apart from the book, my inspirations are Apocalypse Now, Band of Brothers and in some sense, even The Avengers saga.

I wrote original scenes with Rosa on page one, giving a glimpse of what she truly has at stake as a woman- Rosa’s ‘me too’ moment.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENt This film is very interesting to me, as I shot it in four hours in an office space. I used two cameras and I did the shoot like a documentary.

I wanted to challenge myself whether I could shoot a film like this. I was highly influenced by David Cronenberg and his film after watching his Cosmopolitan.

It is a very important film to me, because of the way I shot and how I shot. I took great care in the edit too.

BUNCH OF GRAPES A film by Shomsuklla Das Bunch of Grapes is the story of an over obsessed mother and her troubled daughter and the working relationship between the two.

A story of love and hate, the film was shot by ace cinematographer, Alex Megaro, against

the scenic backdrop of a vineyard in Los Angeles, USA. It was wonderful to work with Catherine Black, an award-winning director and actress who I met at a festival. Having gelled so well, we spontaneously decided to work together, which was a fantastic experience – as was the experience with Sharmila.

So well suited was Sharmila to playing a mother that when delivering harsh dialogues,

she broke down. It was so intense. Added to which, when dealing with food, we avoided nuts as Cat was allergic to them.

A seven-day shoot involving long hours, we started just after breakfast and wrapped up in the evening. Aside from the vineyard, we also travelled to different locations and had awesome shoots there too.

Our first collaboration with American actresses, it was a very pleasant experience.

Saul Bellow used to liken authors and artists to the antennae of society. In The Creatress, Eryn Bellow (Lindy Booth) scouts the way, allowing the audience to follow along and feel her struggle. Finally, when she gathers her epiphany, the gambit of this film is to make the audience feel this moment when she falls into herself and finds a way to reflect that in her words, and hopefully, find something worthwhile, unexpected, and new.

I feel there is a universal fascination with writing a book. There are plenty of people in my family that talk about doing it. I think it comes from a curiosity about what it must feel like. So I set out to deconstruct that

fantasy, and craft the experience the best that I know it, in only a way that a movie can do. So the film is as much about the feeling of writing as it is the story of Eryn Bellow’s journey of finding her next story worth telling.

Storytelling has evolved over the years— from the classic literature to post modern, self-aware, meta texts. It is difficult to find the next thing worth writing about. I think a writer seeks the truth of their time.

Sometimes that means deploying a new technique. Sometimes that means using a classical technique. Regardless, they are all paths to unlock truth. This film explores that journey and hopefully gives the audience the satisfaction of figuring it out...along with the protagonist.

their craft, and Fran Drescher and Peter Bogdanovich because of all their experience they brought to the film. Without their A-game, we would not have half the movie we ended up with. Especially Lindy Booth. That woman is a rock star.

The experience working on this film was both exhilarating and exhausting. We could only afford 15 days of production, and the story covered 29 locations. So time, which is always limited, was more limited on this production due to the amount of company moves in and around Los Angeles...which is famous for its traffic, among other things.

The concept was conceived from an expression that everyone has heard about movies based on books—that the movie is never as good. Though I often agree, I also find myself playing devils advocate when talking with my friends on the subject. What I point out is just how different the mediums truly are.

Similar to how speaking and writing are different. The experience of reading a book requires the active participation of the reader with the guidelines laid down by a writer years, or sometimes decades before.

This exchange often happens over the course of ten hours. Or more. Proust...150 hours? At least? A film is designed for one sitting, and the image is realized. So I looked for a way to bridge the difference between the two experiences, and craft a film that encourages the audience to participate with their imagination.

We were truly blessed with the actors that wanted to come along for this ride. Not only was the material challenging, with lots to keep track of, but we could not afford much time to discover on set. So everyone came as prepared as you must be for a play, and invention began in blocking. We often shot rehearsals. So the pressure was on.

I’m a big reader. My love of stories was born first in books. Movies came shortly after. I also have always looked at things historically, and how storytelling in both books and film evolve. It’s also interesting the differences in the mediums. So, as a craftsman, I’m interested in pushing the boundaries. How far we got is up to the audience.

A self-funded, low budget documentary made in Hanoi, Vietnam over four years.

As a young boy during Vietnam’s harsh ‘Subsidy Era’ (1975-1986), Mr Tuan remembers when bicycles cost more than houses. His father had owned a bicycle, but neither Tuan nor his six siblings were allowed to touch it, let alone ride it. This bike was their only form of transport: a precious asset.

Today Mr Tuan runs a busy fried dumpling street stall with his family. In his spare time – sometimes way after midnight – he finds, buys, restores and rides vintage bicycles from the French colonial era. He set up the Hanoi Old and New Bicycle Club, a popular community group that has often been featured on local Vietnamese media.

Hanoi was once a city of bicycles. It is now congested, polluted and noisy thanks to the so-called increased standard of living. Nonpolluting bicycles are generally considered only as transport for the poor – those who cannot afford a motor bike or car.

A film by Ana Maria Estrada Ana Maria Estrada is a renowned Peruvian actress, writer and producer who currently resides between the cities of New York and Miami.

In 2014, she created her own company production, DAKINI PRODUCTIONS, based in Lima Peru, which has produced the famous Peruvian series Santa Rosa de Lima, amongst others.

She wrote, produced and directed her first short film Esto le Paso a Usted? (This Happened to You?), which was nominated by recognised international film festivals that include The Nice International Film Festival in France, and The South European Film Festival in Valencia, Spain.

As a director, Ana Maria was inspired to show the concerns of people vulnerable to the threat of Alzheimer’s disease, who are preyed upon and swindled by scammers taking advantage of their situation.

THE STORY

Our character Fausto’s memory is challenged when he encounters Jaime who pretends to know Fausto. As he tries to remember Jaime, the situation prompts Fausto to follow Jaime.

However, at the end of the film, Fausto learns that Jaime has swindled him and is left deceived.

LIVING OFF THE MANHOLE friends who all wanted to be part of the hotel life. The film also features the hotel staff, their stories, corruption, voodoo, as well as various writers and artists who visited the hotel.

Living Off The Manhole documents the turn of events that contributed to the hotel’s final demise in 1997, the staff’s reactions and panic that ensued. The film also documents the history of my family and how they became hotel owners.

Living Off the Manhole highlights pivotal history in New York including the building of the World Trade Center and the plane crash that hit the Empire State Building in 1945.

Filmed in 1996/97, the film documents the story of my past, about a girl living in her family’s hotel, much like a grown up Eloise.

She started to tell me the story...

It was her boyfriend who kept beating her up and taking her money away from her. He was an abusive boyfriend and a drug addict - as she stated “a monster”. She told me that he beat her up until blood came from her nose and mouth. During his visits, he raped her as well.

She went to the police and reported everything but the abusive boyfriend didn’t take any orders and kept on coming to her house. However, eventually he got arrested and ended up in jail.

My friend told me that after her abusive boyfriend was arrested, she finally got the chance to live fear free. She said, “finally, I am breathing.” However, she also said, “now I am dealing with another thing.” I asked her what it was. She said she was pregnant from that monster and it had been three months.

I was speechless. She told me that that it would be the only baby she could have in her life due to a problem in her uterus. The doctors

said her uterus would be taken away in surgery after she gave birth.

So, my friend went back and forth between the thoughts of giving birth to that monster’s child or not, as it would be the only chance she had to have a baby.

Although she was going to her doctor for the routine control appointments and to see how the baby was doing, she had a huge fear that something would go wrong with the baby.

Unfortunately, what she feared the most happened to her. In one of her routine doctor appointments, she learned something that would change her entire life.

I saw her struggle and felt her pain, for she now had to make the decision of whether or not to give birth to a child who had Down Syndrome.

I was so affected by my friend’s story that it inspired me to create my film, Anna.

In the end, my friend made the decision to give birth no matter what, because she loved her baby so much. She gave birth to the baby, even though she didn’t have enough money to provide for it.

If you ask now how they are doing today?

They are doing great. Her baby girl is now five-years-old. And while yes, she has Down Syndrome and it can be very difficult to look after her, think about it this way: If you do something with huge love, it’s never going to be hard. Love will always win. Love conquers all.

Thus, they will aspire for beautiful love, draw lessons from the past, and make a review of the present. That’s enough. I like love-based films. It’s an excellent mode of emotional expression that the audience is deeply touched while the characters free themselves from crying. The partnerships coming together are rolling out four practical assignment modules and delivering five workshops across the Festival term, with assessment support to all participants.
