A PRECIOUS LIFE
BASED ON A TRUE STORY Directed by Fraser Precious
After spending the past five years developing his life’s work into a feature film, Fraser Precious successfully premiered the short film concept for ‘A Precious Life’ at the Cannes Short Film Corner earlier this year. Something that 10 years ago seemed unimaginable. The film is about Fraser’s previous life as a classical trumpet player performing with Symphony Orchestras in the Sydney Opera house at the mere age of 19. After a series of unfortunate events, Fraser lost everything imaginable and ended up homeless on the streets of Sydney, fighting for his survival. An inspiring journey then unfolds as he rediscovers his will to live and love of music again through the inspiring human connections and friendships that bring people together.
2
The short film gives a small insight into the grander vision that Fraser plans to tell with the feature film. He aims to create something beyond film, that leaves an imprint and provides much needed inspiration to all corners of the world. The hope is through the short film’s success at festivals, it will continue to build the momentum to really bring this story to life in cinemas around the globe. The film carries very important life messages with the aim of raising much needed
awareness for the mental health and homeless communities, as well as giving a rare insight into the classical world and power of music. To make the feature film possible, Fraser is seeking an investment of $4 million to release his enlightening story and help others through their struggles and journey in life. Fraser’s middle brother Doctor Duncan Precious, a clinical psychologist and mental health expert not only helped Fraser through
this period but also helped him to develop the film. Their eldest brother, Lieutenant Colonel Angus, Precious of the Royal Marines, has also been a strong champion of the film within the military community. As can be seen in the short, Fraser plans for every element of the story to be portrayed authentically, from his trumpet playing to a life on the streets and to the uplifting ending that resulted in Fraser discovering a new path and journey in life.
“No matter what obstacles are thrown in your path, the key is to find that inner strength and never ever give up” – Fraser Precious Drama

FLYING ON THE WINGS OF TIME CHAPTER ONE: NOW AND THEN CHAPTER TWO: NOSTALGIA CHAPTER THREE: BUENOS AIRES AND A MILLION MEMORIES Here we have the last two chapters of the brilliantly crafted Buenos Aires Trilogy and Short Documentary ‘Flying on the Wings of Time’ By Dr Teresa Mular. Chapter two ‘Nostalgia’ and Chapter three ‘Buenos Aires and a Million Memories’ follow on from the wonderfully gripping and moving award winning First Chapter “Now and Then”.
CHAPTER ONE: NOW AND THEN This is a personal journey which describes how the architecture and the view of the city of Buenos Aires, where I was born, raised and educated, have changed the landscape of the neighbourhood where I lived and I knew so well . ‘Now and Then’ narrates the changes that have occurred between the past (40 years ago) and the present. Memories that are intertwined with landscapes where I spent my childhood and teenage years. Wandering and wondering through the eyes of the filmmaker, who appears on and off, almost as a ghost throughout the project. Recollections of a time that has passed and has left great memories.

emotional adrenaline, it can awaken all senses. Thereafter, we revisit a city port, which retains little of the past, yet has the miracle, mystery and masterful architecture one could ever discover. This film takes us through a wonderful journey focusing in spectacular monuments, which adorn many public places, revealing the strong influence and taste for European architecture and art. City monuments that often seem unnoticed become glorious when viewing them almost as if with a magnifying lens. Glorious moments of discovery and fulfilment exude in this chapter #3 ‘Buenos Aires and a Million Memories’ from the documentary -Flying on the Wings of Time-.
Run Time 27 Mins
CHAPTER TWO - NOSTALGIA The significance of this particular chapter is linked to the emotions and reverberations arising from the director’s memories and related to the feelings of “ nostalgia “ so profoundly tagged to the idiosyncrasies of the Buenos Aires inhabitants. Looking back at one’s own experiences as a young person, it infuses and suffuses a myriad of sensations which I believe cannot and will not be experienced but only until later in life. Revisiting places and people once seen with the eyes of a less mature individual, makes us reflect about the importance of a past that once was noticed from a different angle. ‘Nostalgia’ takes us through the amazing career and works of one of the most outstanding photographers of Argentina’s XX century Annemarie Heinrich. Another Master of the Visual Arts of the same period -Quinquela Martin - his life and legacy follows. Passing through the colossal murals of other famous artists and displayed in various public places, the film concludes with that which is universally attached to Buenos Aires: Tango and its inherent nostalgia.

Director Statement Coming to terms with one’s past and present takes much more than “guts”. Thus, to decide and shoot a documentary about the place where you grow up, especially after several decades of being absent from that very place you once knew so well has been a complex process. I believe that anyone who has left his/her own hometown, be that in the same country of birth or as an emigrant, can experience a connection to what was left, what has been replaced and the passage of time in general terms and in a most intimate personal path as well.
Run Time 55 Mins
CHAPTER THREE - Buenos Aires and a Million Memories What can be more exciting than to revisit one of the greatest opera houses in this world, the Colon Theatre, after you have not seen it for four decades, only to have the opportunity to have the entire theatre to yourself, because of the determination to shoot a documentary? A most thrilling experience for someone who admires and lives with classical music day in and day out. Even for some who don’t require that daily dosage of musical infusion and injection of

WELCOME BACK
JACKY Good news! Jacky Woo came back to the festival in Milan, 2018. He is a fantastic filmmaker, producer, composer, director and lead actor. Also, he has won multiple awards all over the world. But wait, how much do you know about Jacky? Let’s look back at his career and learn more about Jacky Woo! Jacky, was born and raised in China Town, Yokohama, Japan. His father owned a Chinese restaurant there. China Town was an exotic place, like a foreign country. He grew up with a lot of friends from lots of different nationalities such as America, India and China. This environment had a big impact on young Jacky. Jacky: “I noticed that America was an open country so that I could go there whenever I want if I had a passport. However, if I went to East Asian countries or European countries,
I should have had some connection with people who live there. East Asian countries are not open to everyone the way America is, however, I became very interested in these countries.”
Jacky: “I am very interested in Chinese Martial Art such as Kung Fu and Tai Chi, since I was a small child. Besides, I have a Chinese background so I think I should be good at those Chinese Martial Arts.”
Jacky Woo has a Chinese background, family has always played a very important role in his life, especially his grandfather who was a Kung Fu teacher. Young Jacky spent a lot of time with his grandfather and learned Chinese Martial Art.
Jacky also has always had a strong passion for films. He loved watching Hollywood films when he was growing up, however, later he became more interested in Japanese and Asians films. He thought both Japanese and Asian films have a “power” that touches the human heart.

Because of his passion for Asian countries and Chinese Martial Art, he decided to go to Hong Kong. In 1999, his journey started in Hong Kong. He tried to find a Chinese Martial Art school. Jacky: “Actually, I have already learned Chinese Martial Art in Japan. Therefore, I decided to look for a few Chinese Martial Art schools. However, I couldn’t find any connection between these schools and entertainment. At one school in Hong Kong, they looked very

sophisticated but far from ‘realistic’. I saw that they were practicing fake performance and was disappointed about their execution.” He couldn’t find a school that he felt at home at. However, he noticed that he wanted to be not only an actor, but also a person who made films and can give some impact to the audience. In 2001, He moved to Philippines to pursue his dream.
Jacky: “When I went to Philippines and visited film shooting locations. They used a lot of explosives, a huge crane for film shooting, lots of professionals and incredible skill. I noticed that I could make a film here in the Philippines.” Therefore, he started making films in Philippines. Here he could make a good film with a low budget. Also, Filipinos people were willing to accept Jacky. He tried to add scenes of “an expression of people’s emotion” and “an expression of four seasons” to his Filipino films. The local audiences were impressed with this new shooting style and Jacky became popular. When he made a film in Philippines, he encountered brutal things that Japanese militaries did during World War II. Jacky: “The war, or rather the battle, was over a long time ago. However, many Japanese people come to Philippines and spend a lot of money on bad things. I feel the new war – the war related to money —is not over. I wish I could do something for the Filipino people.” Jacky recorded a song about the new money war called ‘Toki to Umi wo Koete’. For this he got a Golden Disc Award in Philippines. In 2011, Jacky got an opportunity to make a Hollywood film, called ‘Super Tanker’. He played a Japanese character in this film and worked with Ben Cross, famous for ‘Chariots of Fire’. Jacky: “There are many talented directors all over the world. My next goal is to make three to five films in a year with them. I would like to go to many different countries such as India, Brazil, and European countries and produce films. This is my next adventure”.

GRANDMA ALL GOOD Directed by Jacky Woo
My favourite grandma has changed a little recently. She asked me the same questions over and over, and eventually she wasn’t even able to knit. She must be suffering from a disease, such as “Alzheimer’s”? And one hot summer day, she just disappeared…. The theme of this film is Alzheimer’s disease. It is quite a heavy theme, however, this film helps you to understand what Alzheimer’s is and what it can do to a family. This heartfelt movie will touch audiences of all generations.

The Film Industry Network The Film Industry Network – 2018 And Beyond! Across years of attending International markets and through its official launch with the ‘Film Festival International Group’, ‘The Film Industry Network’ (hereby referred to as ‘TFIN’) has advised hundreds of filmmakers on film packaging, production, distribution and how to best navigate the treacherous waters of the film market. With fantastic success stories being unveiled, others starting their journey in post-production and several new film projects in development, ‘TFIN’ moves into ‘2018’, with a clear focus on precisely what members and attending first time film makers need to focus on in order to succeed in the film business. The ‘TFIN’ Life Cycle in the Festival Arena. We’ve created fantastic inroads enabling people to achieve their goals. Outside of our film packaging service, we’ve referred and connected talent with legal services, production servicing and distribution. Our core focus has never been to capitalise on clients, but to be the catalyst for positive change and help genuinely talented storytellers achieve their goals! ‘TFIN’s’ creators know the market well and through the ‘FFI Groups’ London, Nice, Cannes, Madrid, Berlin, Milan and Amsterdam events we’ll continue to provide both seasoned and first time filmmakers with invaluable support at festivals and via our bespoke one to one members service. Our focus and corporate philosophy has not changed and neither has our remit. ‘TFIN’s intention going forwards is to provide additional support to those attending the film festival circuit by offering progressive one to one’s for concept development to all. ‘TFIN’ Market Research Assessment. While attending the International markets over the last five years, ‘TFIN’s creators discovered a trend in low
budget films being made with preattached questionable sales agents and agreements on board. It was the monitoring of said deals that prompted our research to formulate a working strategy. Out of the titles that crossed our desks, the only films that seem to have had any success were the ones that agents co-produced or pre-sold, with several finding route to digital platforms and stockist shelves. In some cases, but not all, the number of paid producers attached to the project left us asking the question, ‘What was the total budget and will the investor ever see any real return?’ In other cases, the marketing spend remained uncapped, leaving it unlikely that these films would recoup their monies back. The evidence showed that the capping of the marketing spend stopped agents taking large fees out of the film’s sales profit, allowing producers to recoup some, if not all of the budget by way of a return on the production expenditure across a typical market sales cycle. However there are of course many other essential contributing factors that have to be in place commercially to assist this outcome. The ‘TFIN’ Observation Of Emerging Talent. With simplifying technology being a plus point, we discovered over 75% of filmmakers were technically adept. The presentation standard was high and so was the rounded knowledge of technical planning. Where the majority of people came up short was their understanding of the business end of the entertainment arena. It’s not something anyone learns overnight. Why join ‘TFIN’ and the Annual Concierge Service? In an ever changing landscape it is vital that you keep your eye on the market,
its trends and what you are doing to meet those trends. To join ‘TFIN’ means that as aspiring contributors to the film business, you have total peace of mind as to how your film will navigate its journey into a sales market. The network provides a year-round advisory service on the planning of projects and will help navigate you clear of the rocks in the sales arena. In this ever changing market place, there is no shortage of people that will sell your content. The market’s a big, exciting house of candy that is both daunting and alluring. The question is...are you Hansel, Gretel or the last witch’s victim? For peace of mind, ‘TFIN’ has sourced global agents and distributors and will continue to grow relationships. Our sales agents and digital aggregates seek all levels of shorts, animation, feature, documentaries & music content. ‘TFIN’ is not just in a prime position to help achieve your career goals but also to ensure you’ve a chance to make money from placing content with the right opportunities. Which ‘TFIN’ Service Model Is Right For You? If you were to acquire services from an industry consultant outside of TFIN, you would expect to pay a retainer of $1,500 on a 30-day invoice to allow a recognized bespoke support service to enable you to achieve your set aims and objectives. For $249, ‘TFIN’ will provide a 12 month, one to one bespoke mentoring service including: a) Placement for content. b) Support advisory. c) Contract assessment. d) Project assessment. ‘TFIN’s real value is the year-round concierge and festival support. This unique service will oversee the growth and development of many projects per festival, starting with London. Ask about our new content pitching and placing service.

THE ISLAND OF DOCTOR MORON The Island of Doctor Moron® is as unique as is the rock musical by the same name. The rock musical was created by husband and wife team, Chris and Lyn Dockrill. Chris is the writer, director, producer. Lyn is the musical genius. The musical started as a high school production in the rural Australian town of Kempsey. “The show was such a huge success then, even in its infant stage, that we knew we had a commercial hit just waiting to happen,” said Chris Dockrill. Jump forward to 2014 and the world premiere professional production of Moron hit the streets of Sydney. It went from an unknown to sold out in its four-week premiere season. “As it turned out, we could have planned for a longer season, but we wanted to play it safe for our first steps” said Dockrill. “Besides, we always had the film in mind,” he added. The film is a unique hybrid. There has never before been a film like this produced in Australia. “We filmed the show with 14 cameras per shoot over many nights’ performances. We then took ten months in the editing suite to assemble a cinematic film of the live show in perfect 5.1 sound. Paul Robert Burton, the chief editor, did an amazing job, building this film from the hundreds of hours of footage,” said Dockrill.
12
The show has a cast of 35 actors, dancers and musicians and is driven relentlessly by a powerhouse of original music, energy-packed choreography, larger-than-life characters and a zany plot that takes you on a strange and unforgettable journey on this crazy island. The story, briefly, goes like this: Edwyna and her bumbling boyfriend, Douggie, are shipwrecked, captured by a crazy band of Rastafarian natives led by Voodoo Valma and her right-hand man, Balthasar, almost cooked and sacrificed and then sold to the maniacal Doctor Moron for his experiments in genetic mutation. Along the way they meet Rubber Gloves, the Slave Market Junkie (featured in the poster on the back cover), Brother Bob the hip black American preacher whose singing rips the paint off the walls, Schnapps the manic photo historian and Fitter and Turner, the doctor’s dwarf lab assistants who just love the ‘wet jobs’, just to name a few! What a night! What a cast! What a show! The result is a unique film that, as Dockrill explains, “is like the live show on steroids.” Indeed, one major paper in Australia, The Newcastle Herald, went further by tagging the film as “Rocky Horror on Steroids”. This year, the film has been selected, screened, nominated and awarded by at least 13 international film festivals in 10 countries.

The film smashes through the imaginary fourth wall between actors and audience and propels the viewers onto the stage and into the show. This is precisely what unprompted viewers have said in the vox pops on the show. The film has a universal appeal; it cuts across all ages, genders and tastes. Thompson is on record as saying: “The Island of Doctor Moron has breathed new life into live musical theatre. I witnessed the live show work its magic on a full-house audience of all ages. The film of the show is amazing; it has captured and

The energy and fun the film produces is irresistible.” Matthew Reilly, international best seller and action writer who saw both the live show and the film said of the film, “Moron is fun.” Reilly’s fans number in the hundreds of thousands so he should know what appeals. Shomshuklla Das Writer, Director, Producer, Actress...Auteur With two films in competition in Milan: “Murals” & “The Bird”, here we look at Shomshuklla’s background to find out a little more about this talented, driven and stylish filmmaker.
2006 was the year of growth for Shomshuklla. She was at the peak of directing whilst staging her plays, under the banner of Kali Theatre in India, with performances across the country. That was the year too, for her to make the huge decision of changing her profession from dramatist to a filmmaker. Thus, followed years of self-training, learning the nuances of film making. Having never been to film school, Shomshuklla is self-taught with an intense filming regime. In 2012 all her training culminated in her directorial debut, “Sandcastle”, the story of the journey of a woman, to find who she is.
14
Film festivals began recognising her work and other filmmakers started identifying, with her story, with critics comparing her style to the film making to Terence Mallick and awards across the globe began pouring in. For her there is no looking back. She realised this is her journey, to be a filmmaker. The years following “Sandcastle” were hectic as she started writing more scripts and shooting more films. There was no stopping her. “Chhuti aar picnic (picnic)” a musical film was then shot followed by “Hopscotch”, a psychological horror, where she expressed that she was highly influenced by Polanski & “Tiktok” soon followed. She started creating her own style, which was both experimental and unique. Her, poetic film, “Flowers and a Lap of Rose” won the Legend award at a US Festival and an award was created in her name. Her unique style of film making evoked enthusiasm for research by the University of Maryland, which is to emphasise her technique, as this is not taught at the film school. Thus, her journey of film making has given her a rounded career, where it is not only the festivals that appreciate her work but also, she has become a part of an academic career. The life she has chosen to live.

MURALS “We shot the film in Kenya. It was an absolutely a fantastic shoot with the living wildlife around us. I conceived the film to be shot in a resort and thought Africa would be the right place.
15
I acted in the film for the first time thus it was wonderfully challenging for me. As I had to check the shot and the frame and act as well! The lead actor Sumanto Chattopadhyay had already acted in my previous film (“White Bee”), thus he was very comfortable with the script.
THE BIRD It is the story of a corporate woman, successful, a wife and mother. Her world revolves round her small loving family and her work family but there are a lot of sacrifices living in the corporate world and being successful leaving her at a crossroads. What she wants more and more is corporate success or the simple pleasures from her family, to spend quality time with her husband and daughter.
A lot of inputs also came from the DOP Ashish Singh as well. It was interesting that after we landed at the resort, we started marking the spots of our shoot. The whole experience was full of adventure. It is the story of a couple who parted without saying a clear good bye. They suddenly meet in the resort and find each other; and are completely surprised. Their parting remains unclear and they want to find out what went wrong but, whilst they go through the reason of their previous breakup, they slowly begin to get involved again. While in this journey of life they are unsure whether to become committed once again to each other. Will this renewed relationship work for them?
“This film is very interesting to me, as I shot it in four hours in an office space. I used two cameras and I did the shoot like a documentary. I wanted to challenge myself, whether or not I could shoot a film like this. I was highly influenced by David Cronenberg and his film after watching “Cosmopolitan”. It is a very important film to me, because of the way I shot and how paying great care in the edit too, which of course has my signature style, that is experimental.” Drama

MILLION LOVES IN ME A Feature Film by Kenny Chan & John Y
Million loves in Me follows the story of a wealthy mother and daughter who suffer from the psychological issues of obsessive-compulsive disorders, and their controversial private lives are exposed to the public through a charge of their animal hoarding behaviour by the police. The topic of animal hoarding, to our knowledge, has never been explored by a movie in cinematic history.
The story begins when Katy, the 45-year old daughter, is charged with animal cruelty after the police discover more than a hundred dogs and cats being hoarded at her apartment. Following her trial at the court, the abnormal lives of Katy and her mother are unveiled. Behind their weird appearances, the mother and daughter live an extremely well-off life, with an uncontrollable urge to shop excessively for clothes, handbags and pets. They are despised and disliked by people wherever they go. Their unusual behaviour arouses the attention of their neighbourhood reporter who starts to investigate their lives. After he finds out about the animal hoarding situation at their apartment, he discloses the matter to the public for the sake of justice. However, after seeing Katy being caught by the police and devastated by the intense public criticism, he begins to doubt the morality of his own actions... The film examines the common mental disorders that affect people from all ages across the world, while sometimes the sufferers may not even notice their illnesses. In the story, both Katy and her mother are victims of these obsessive-compulsive disorders. Katy’s mother has developed an obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) after being abandoned by her husband and son. Consequently, she has an obsessive need for control over her daughter’s life. On the other hand, Katy has been living in an invisible cage set up by her dominant mother since childhood, without enjoying any
normal school or social life. Being physically and emotionally abused by her mother, she has developed symptoms of obsessivecompulsive disorder (OCD) at an early age. At the age of 45, the poor woman only has the intellect of a 15 year-old child, and her gullible character makes her easily fall for men who cheat her out of money. Although her life is miserable under her mother’s domination, Katy is indeed unable to live an independent life as a normal person. Likewise, in order to cope with her compulsion to control, her mother is unable to detach herself from her daughter. The two inseparable women seek relief from their respective disorders through excessive shopping, ending up with hoarding pets at their home. The pets are almost the only object in which Katy can find her comfort and trust. She treats them as her best friends, but at the same time everyone blames her for being cruel to them. Million Loves in Me has received recognition in over 35 film festivals worldwide. The film has screened in a number of places. One critic, Mr Gunther Kramer who viewed the film at the opening of one film festival commented that the film is a story about the alienation of people in a consumerist society. The animals in cages are no lonelier than people. He further took the view that this is a story of ultimate loneliness and false illusions; it is a story about people creating their own cages, living in them and being afraid of breaking them. The story of Million Loves in Me is original and provokes empathy towards the protagonist and poses many questions about life and love.
Million Loves in Me is directed by Sampson YUEN, whose previous work includes a famous TV drama in Hong Kong in which the international renowned Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung’s both had their acting debut and also the top-grossing films “Bullets Over Petaling Street” and “Petaling Street Warriors”. Million Loves in Me is produced by Kenny Chan and John Y, a first time producer of feature film. It is interesting to note that John Y was the lawyer acting for the real life Katy in the court case. He has empathy towards the real life Katy that prompted him and gave him the inspiration into writing the original screenplay of the film. This debatable drama about animal hoarding, mental disorder and confinement of life is the acting debut of John Y & the mother, Mami, is played by LO KoonLan, a famous and renowned actress in Hong Kong. She is a frequent winner of many acting awards both on stage and in film. She has been a professor of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and was the acting instructor in a television company and film institutions. After performing their roles as Mami and Katy in the film, both LO Koon-Lan and John Y having nothing but wonderful reflections about life and human values. Different viewers have different reactions and feelings after watching the film. Nevertheless, the producers of Million Loves in Me would like to use the media of the film to bring the messages of love between humans and love between humans and animals to the whole wide world. THE BULGARIAN SCHOOL A Film on the struggles of the Macedonian Nation and its Diaspora
Jovan L. Boseovski, Producer/Screen Writer
“The Bulgarian School” Short Excerpt From The Feature Film “No Minorities” (Winter 2019 Release) Jovan L. Boseovski is the Producer and Screenwriter based in Toronto Canada. As the creator of the feature film project “No Minorities” and the short film excerpt “The Bulgarian School”, it’s clear that Boseovski has the passion and historical knowledge to deliver a story that needs to be told.
20
Having received four nominations for “The Bulgarian School” Short Film at the Milan International Filmmakers Festival (2018), the production masterfully sheds light on aspects of the tiny Macedonian Nation’s history of oppression. Jovan emphatically claims that: “Whether at the hands of the Ottoman Empire, the Bulgarians through numerous conflicts, the Greeks during their civil war, or by the Serbs in Yugoslavia, Macedonians have been oppressed and supressed as a nation continuously for over 500 years, including the ongoing name dispute with Greece!”
The Bulgarian School short is an effective snap shot into the oppression that Boseovski mentions. It symbolises the resilience of the Macedonian people to stand up to oppression, but also highlights their positive attitude to find the silver lining in all situations. As this excerpt shows, the feature film “No Minorities” which will be completed and released in 2019, beautifully weaves the modern lives of the Macedonian Diaspora with historical word-of-mouth flashbacks characterising life in the Macedonian ancestral homeland.
“What Jovan has done with his screenplay is very unique and impressive. Immediately, as I read the script, I could virtually see the edit in my mind. He truly has a talent for script. The nomination for Best Original Screenplay of a Short Film at Milan IFF (2018) is the perfect accolade,” Says Ian Pearson the film’s editor with over 20 years of experience in the film industry. Boseovski appreciates being recognised for the strength of his writing, but adds: “Regardless of how strong the script is, once the ‘brass brads are bent’, so what! The next step is critically important and that is building the team to make it happen.” If The Bulgarian School is any indication, as the Producer, he has done just that for the Feature Film as well. “As the team works together to bring to life the Macedonian story, it is my job, particularly as a Chinese-Canadian, to make this into a universal story with universal appeal,” says codirector Remjie Li “Whether it’s the cast, crew or production unit, Jovan and I have brought together a very talented group,” he adds.
On top of the nomination for Best Original Screenplay of a Short Film, The Bulgarian School has also been nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Short Film, Best Supporting Actor in a short Film and Best Editing of a Short Film at Milan IFF 2018. Drama

Miracle of CHRISTMAS A film by Eri Tsukimoto
‘Miracle of Christmas’ and “Run through rainbow bridges’... I’m so grateful and happy to be nominated our first films in your fabulous Milan international film festival!
I depicted and entrusted my important messages for our two films, for instance, the greatness of true love, friendship, hope, dream, power of overcoming difficulties, world peace and equality. People might have their deep trauma, difficulty, secrets of the past, complicated inner mind and unbelievable accidents in their lives. However, it’s very essential to continue to imagine their dream positively, keep the faith, use their incidents as their nourishment. I wanted to convey the miracle to find out their true love and make their dreams come true. In the fact various love and true art are bound up each other. Love produces real art, and art produces many impressions and true love.
I’ve started to write novels from six years old, as I really liked to imagine my fantasy world and make stories. I also wanted to be in the imaginable, mysterious world like my stories, and maybe as an actress as well. The film ‘Back to the Future’ gave me a powerful impact for me to long for a director in my childhood. In Europe, I have had enormous inspiration, growth and creativity to learn marvellous artistic theatre performance and music as an art world. It’s a remarkable miracle to be born each character’s new lives by the actors’ acting and my directing in my story.
I’m so pleased to deliver people in the world lots of touching impressions, hope, happiness and greatness of love. I would love to say “thank you” to my actors, staffs, and supporters with all my love. I continue to make efforts to deepen my favourite art more and more. I want to progress the expressions and make creative touching films to raise the level more in the future! https://ameblo.jp/starlight-15

film, is the model Hilary Merlini, for whom this is her first experience as an actress. This very low-budget independent production was shot in Milan, in particular on location in the Indro Montanelli public gardens. The professional film crew — many of whom are his friends — is composed of Shiro Dri, director of photography; Aurora Crippa and Mattia Colombo, assistant directors; Ivan Tonucci, location sound recordist; Robert Shami, Ronin operator; Maria Salvi, set photographer; Carmen Amaro and Alfonso Imperato, for makeup and hair styling. Editing is by Shiro Dri and audio mixing by Manuel Giammaria, while the original music was composed by Gianfranco Clerici and Nicolò Fragile, who played it on the piano.
In the author’s narrative there is, in a way, a desire to go back in time and prevent certain tragic events from taking place, or, at least, a dream about this. Second Chance starts as a confession, received from a colleague, that the protagonist - a teacher going through an existential crisis decides to reveal... The Radicalization of Jeff Boyd Written and directed by Uwe Schwarzwalder
This drama is about a businessman, Jeff Boyd, who dreams of living in Australia. When he signs an investment contract, he’s full of hope to be able to leave with a pocket full of cash. He soon realizes that it’s not that easy. And after a heavy argument with his boss, Jeff’s world collapses. That’s when he meets a young woman, Wendy, also in a delicate state. Their common worries about what the world turns into comes more and more into light, and they decide that they want to change that - with a dangerous plan! The cast includes Uwe Schwarzwalder, Yessica Sanchez, Zarina Tadjibaeva, Jörg Reichlin, Julian Booth, Brian Pinkus, Freigeist van Tazzy, Leonard Kocan, Patricia Sluka and many more. Uwe Schwarzwalder wrote the story in late summer 2014. When meeting the actors, he tried to connect on a personal level instead of the usual audition process. The core scenes were shot within a few weeks early in 2015 while adding additional shots continuously until 2016. Post-production was eventually a very long process, in co-operation with 4 musicians, Michael Klubertanz, Paco Periago and Brendan Gillespie who also wrote and performed “Fall” and Amanda Ply with “Waiting”, who all underlined the film with a vivid score. This is his first film as a director. He tried to bring out the essence of each character and to stay truthful to the moment. (So truthful, that one time a real police SWAT team showed up as they suspected a hold up.) Also important to him was the logical aspect of the story being told. Everything had to make sense and be believable as it would be in real life. And it becomes the real life — with weaknesses, vulnerabilities and objectives.

WRATH & ENVY Dale Johnson - Cinema eVerite LLC
The Cinema eVerite’ LLC project Dale Johnson’s “Deadliest Sins” is an incredible series of socially conscious yet entertaining short films. They are twisted, dark, powerful, meaningful, intensely creative, and shine a light on human nature and the sins that plague our personal and group relationships within society. Imagined as a blend of the Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, each mini bite-sized five - to twelve-minute Sin offers insights into a contemporary human issue affecting our ethical and moral behaviours and often society as a whole. Each sin is presented truthfully yet artfully without bowing to financial or censorship pressure, and each group of film artists are encouraged to examine the meaning of humanity through their individual Sin. Yet these Sins are meant to be an entertainment, not a lecture, and to offer classic storytelling and mainstream filmmaking style.
This highly unusual, multi-purpose film short story sin platform was created for a variety of socially conscious reasons. (1) Because the film shorts are ultra-micro budget and therefore low risk they allow artists to take chances to create unique, intriguing, risk-taking ideas and stories. (2) They allow a multitude of minority voices and stories to be heard. (3) They can be shot anywhere with anyone allowing talented minority writers, directors and crew anywhere in the world to learn and grow. (4) They deliver specific socially conscious messages to audiences thirsting to hear truths not conveyed in mainstream films. (5) They can make profits because audience members viewing one will want to pay to view the entire series, making not one sale but dozens. (6) They are limitless and can eventually be a series of hundreds of entertaining bitesize shorts.

The first series of three sins, “Wrath”, “Envy” and “Greed”, has gotten off to a great start. Shot recently in 2018, Wrath, concerning gun control, was accepted into the Newark 2018 Film Festival and Milan filmmakers Festival 2018, Envy was also accepted into the Milan Filmmakers Festival 2018. More Sins are in development to be shot in 2019. The Series is looking for collaborators, representation and distribution. Founded by veteran theatre writer/producer Dale Johnson in 2010, joined by producer Alexandra Tebano in 2017, Cinema eVerite’ LLC has shot both full-length movies and shorts. It has a multiple-goal Mission Statement. (1) Make substantial profits for investors and participants. (2) Advance the career opportunities of talented minorities, particularly women. (3) Shine a light on controversial issues with an uncompromising approach. (4) Merge the best intentions of Off Broadway and independent filmmaking. Cinema eVerite’ LLC therefore welcomes collaborations and co-partnerships with diverse and talented filmmakers with a unique style and voice. Wrath - Run Time 6 Mins Envy - Run Time 12 mins

This is the ordeal of Beltha, as recounted by film director Tanwie Elvis “De Dadies” in the film “Two Ways” produced by Desiree Sanga “Two Ways” is a melodramatic true-life story which paints a true picture of a society where the rich use their power and position in an era where few could afford justice to trample on the rights of the poor. Shot at the Pundo Salon Village in Muyuka, Cameroon. “Two Ways” is a film which presents the situation of a desperate girl, Beltha with her controversial love affair with Mbami and her daughter Felicia. For close to two hours viewers will watch the passion strife, and determination of Beltha to counter the suppression from her former boy friends’ mother (Mrs Mbami). Despite all odds, Beltha did not allow her circumstance to determine her future which many could have considered shattered. She had the choice to move on, or remain where her boyfriend and his family had placed her. Having made a decision, watch and see how her future turned out to be Tanwie Elvis “De Dadies” says that through the film, the producer is out to let the society know that decisions people make in the past may be present testimonies of the situations they find themselves today. “It may be a wrong decision that turned out good”. The population is being told “empowering a woman is empowering the world”, for it is with such belief that a non-governmental organisation revealed in the life of Beltha amidst the huge antagonism from those around her. Cakra Buana “Cakra Buana” written, produced and directed by the Italian-born and American & Japanese educated Massimo Burhanuddin. “Cakra Buana” is a unique 85-minutes musical film because it is entirely in Sundanese language (one of Indonesia’s traditional languages) that’s all sung throughout the entire movie and therefore, uses very little dialogue.
After several years wandering, Cakra decided to return to his homeland. As his homecoming, Halimun Village lost its peace. The declining health of Weh forces his son, Cakra, to replace the leader of Halimun in the midst of catastrophe. The presence of the siblings, Birawa and Laksmi, strengthen Cakra through the hard times. Meanwhile, people who hate Cakra supports Galuh to seize the leadership. Who is Galuh? Why does he add bitterness to Cakra’s life intentionally? Moreover, he even disturbs Cakra’s nearest people, including Laksmi, the girl he loves. Cakra Buana is not only about the life of Cakra, but it is also a story about the winding journey of the wheel of life that humans must pass, and sometimes they cannot elude it. Cakra Buana was shot in Tasikmalaya, West Java. Starring newcomer Sendi Rahman, Tiara Putri Effendy, Mohammad Aditya, Nelly TBH, Aditia Syaeful Bahri, Yusef Muldiyana, and many more. The passion of telling this type of story has catapulted by these filmmakers from
first-timer Enry Johan Jaohari, who directed the music for Cakra Buana to the Director of Photography, Fahmy J. Saad, who worked in the mainstream film industry. The Film is nominated for the Jury Award, Best Supporting Actor in a Foreign Language Film, and Best Cinematography in a Foreign Language at the Milan International Film Festival. It has also been officially selected, nominated, and awarded at various film festivals at a national and international level. Cakra Buana might be one of those movies that need time for audiences to absorb, due to its aesthetic presentation. Hopefully, this film can be shown in many other international film festivals, creating an emotional experience for the viewers, and at the same time introduces them to one of many cultures from Indonesia. BLOC CENTRAL A feature length movie by Michel Finazzi
SYNOPSIS: Daniel Ruchat has just started work as a prison officer. P. B., charged with attempted murder, has been transferred to the small Lausanne prison Bois-Mermet. As days go by, both discover their new environment. And as their paths cross, the viewer is taken through the twists and turns of life inside the prison.
In his first full-length fiction film, Michel Finazzi depicts life in a Swiss prison. This feature film, closely based on reality, reveals various aspects of life inside prison and depicts the people who live and work there, from inmate to director, from social worker to supervisor. It is well-documented because the film-maker worked for 16 years in two regional prisons and consequently has in-depth insider knowledge of what prisons are like. With great precision, he covers practically every detail of prison life. It is also fiction, because the director has Winner Award (June 2018/best narrative feature) by the Calcutta International Film Cult Festival

A must see film, especially if you are inspired by the human struggle to succeed in a competitive world. It not only wows with spectacular dancing, but it teaches and inspires, as it follows four young dancers in their last year of dance school. They all have different strengths and talents and all want to go professional. They must find the path to success that suits each one of them best and be wise and passionate enough to follow it. These four friends share their private dreams and ambitions, their set-backs and triumphs. They take us to Germany, where two of them compete as members of the Canadian National Tap Team in the International Dance Organization’s Tap Competition. We also travel to Seattle, WA, USA for the Regional Semi-Finals in ballet of the Youth America Grand Prix. We learn what it takes to become a professional dancer and where our four featured dancers end up…pro or not?
distilled numerous anecdotes and life stories into a sensitively-crafted story that captures the attention from start to finish. Michel Finazzi does not dwell on the controversial issues surrounding prisons, preferring instead to turn his attention to the human beings who can be found there, both inside and outside the cells. His carefully composed portraits are moving in their humanity. And the spectator discovers that the microcosm of the prison is a reflection of society as a whole, with its norms and codes and comical situations. Drama

"I've never seen anything quite like this film before. It is extraordinary. Fictional character Johnny Lebon weaves his way through a social and historical documentary about the Rio "Carnival" so full of movement, color, and music. So imaginative in its unexpected presentation, editing, camera work, sound design and graphics. And so entertaining. Jean-Louis Uzan has laid out his heart and soul in capturing the "essence" of Carnival and the people of Brazil. With modern age sound design by Angelo Yoto, Jean Louis Uzan mixes the old with the new in a style that can only be called, experimental, innovative and breathtaking. His debut work is something to behold".
