Essential Requirements for a Compliant Tender Application

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY

By Mark Felton

When applying for a tender, it is often necessary to ensure Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) documents are submitted as part of the application process. Failure to provide the required documents can sometimes result in disqualification or non-compliance with regulations.

The following WHS documents will often be required to be submitted when applying for a tender:

1: Safety Management Plan (SMP)

Your SMP should outline how you intend to manage health and safety considerations throughout the project, including identifying and controlling hazards and implementing safety measures.

2: Risk Management Plan

Your Risk Management plan will identify the risks associated with the project and outline how you will be managing them.

3:

Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)

Your SWMS outline the safety measures to be taken during specific work activities and the procedures for carrying out those activities safely.

4: Training and Competency Records

These record the training and competency of workers involved in the project, and are provided to demonstrate that the workers have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their work safely.

5: Health Surveillance Records

Records of health surveillance must be provided for workers engaged in hazardous work to ensure that their health is monitored and not negatively impacted by their involvement in the project.

6: Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management Systems

This document outlines the tenderer's policies and procedures for managing health and safety in the workplace, including risk management, incident reporting, and training.

7: Hazard and Risk Assessment

This assessment identifies and evaluates hazards and risks associated with the project and outlines the measures to be taken to control them.

8: Incident Management Plan

This plan outlines the procedures to be followed in the event of an incident, including reporting, investigation, and corrective actions.

9: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Registers

Registers of PPE issued to workers must be provided to demonstrate that workers are provided with the protective equipment required to carry out their work safely.

10: Plant and Equipment Maintenance Records

Records of maintenance and inspection of plant and equipment used in the project must be provided to demonstrate that they are safe and fit for use.

The ATO is increasing its data matching program to now include residential investment property loans. The ATO will be specifically looking at account details, balances, commencement and end dates, as well as transaction details and property addresses.

The ATO has advised that it will acquire residential investment property loan data from authorised financial institutions under a data-matching program for 2021-22 through to 2025-26.

We anticipate the ATO will be reviewing the data to make sure no personal transactions had taken place and to confirm the whole loan is related to the investment property. If the ATO finds transactions are personal in nature and this has resulted in the loan being greater than what it should have otherwise been if the debt only related to the investment property e.g., the investment loan has been increased as some funds were used to renovate their owners principal residence, the ATO could potentially treat the whole

This is the fifth of five publications where we have been running a series of sensory experiences in nature.

Each experience will take about 10 mins and you are encouraged to read through the instructions before you commence your time in nature to maximise your experience.

Find a spot outside where you can sit or lie down comfortably. This could be in your backyard, your local reserve or in a national park. You may like the familiarity of the same place you have practised before or you may like to try somewhere new.

Take a few moments to regulate your breathing and settle into your position. For this breathing exercise, we will follow a pattern of 4 counts in, holding for 7 and then exhaling for 8.

Follow this pattern, allow it to take all of your focus and to help you unwind. Repeat for a few minutes.

Allow your breathing to find its natural rhythm once more.

For the next 5 mins we are going to practise tuning into all of our senses while we do a slow walk. You may only move a few metres within the 5 mins, the point of the exercise being to tune in to your senses of sight, smell, hearing and feeling as you go. Draw your attention to the details, get in close to nature, take time to experience the full experience of each moment.

You are trying to slow down your senses, slow down your experience. Try not to allow distractions to come into your mind, be fully present to the experience. If you do get distracted, don’t stop, just
