Albuquerque Lands Sports Marketing Association Convention ACVB highlighted unique sporting atmosphere and culture to win the bid.

A

lbuquerque, NM (December 2011) – The Sports Marketing Association has awarded Albuquerque its 2013 National Convention. The convention will take place October 23-27, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. The Sports Marketing Association brings together professors who teach Sports Marketing collegiate classes (nationally and internationally.) The convention is focused on sports marketing events, trends, and education. While at the convention, the group will attend local events and invite lecturers from the local market to speak on the challenges and success from the local perspective. More than 250 collegiate sports marketers will convene in Albuquerque to discuss trends in the industry. “Albuquerque was appealing to the group as a place where they can gain perspective on marketing in the golf industry, the ski industry, minor league sports, and sports at the university level,” said Daniel Ballou, ACVB Director of Sports Marketing, who led the ACVB team on this successful bid for Albuquerque. The convention in Albuquerque will mark the first time the group has not met in a major professional sports city—a city with at least one highest professional league team – NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, NASCAR. For more information on the Sports Marketing Association or this convention, visit their website at www.sportmarketingassociation. com.

Free Tax Preparation And Advice

his year, there’s good news for taxpayers. First, you don’t have to file and pay by April 15th. Due to a holiday in Washington, D.C., the deadline’s been pushed back to April 17, 2012. Next, you may be able to get free help filing your tax form. That’s because the Walmart Foundation is committed to providing hardworking Americans with access to tax-time savings opportunities. The foundation granted $4.35 million to several philanthropical organizations so they can provide free tax-filing services. The grant will: • Fund 100 United Way−led, community-based tax preparation campaigns; • Support the MyFreeTaxes.com National Tour, operated by One Economy, that provides free self-tax preparation tools; • Support the National Disability

Institute’s Real Economic Impact Tour to better reach and serve taxpayers with disabilities. There are a number of ways that you can file your taxes for free this year. If you earn less than $49,000 a year, a trained volunteer tax preparer will help you complete and file your federal and state taxes at no charge at any one of the hundreds of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites located in communities nationwide. These sites are run by nonprofit organizations with funding from multiple sources, including the Walmart Foundation. Go to www.myfreetaxes.com to find a VITA site near you, or text the word “taxes” and your zip code to 91011. You can also file your federal and state taxes online at no charge at www. myfreetaxes.com. This service is available to individuals and families that earn less than $57,000 per year. Finally, many hardworking Americans won’t have to pay anything

at all thanks to tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)—a refundable federal income tax credit for low- to moderate-income working individuals and families. When the credit exceeds the amount of taxes owed, it results in a tax refund to those who qualify for and claim the credit. To find out if you qualify for this

tax credit, download the free app for iPhone and Android smartphones at http://bit.ly/mytaxbackapp. More Help Dial 2-1-1 for more information about free tax preparation options in your area, including how to schedule an appointment and what documents you need to bring with you. -NAPSI

Watching Digital Movies Is Now Easy

W

ith laptops, smartphones, iPads and other tablets, moviegoers have more options to watch movies than ever before. One drawback with digital movies, however, has been the inability to play them anytime, anywhere-until now. Recently, the industry introduced a new digital movie standard called UltraViolet. Backed by leading technology and entertainment companies, the cloud-streaming service provides consumers with a “digital locker” to store copies of purchased films. Buyers of an UltraViolet-enabled movie can then access that film on computers, iPhones and iPads, as well as other mobile devices. You can even share your movies with other members of your account, at home and on the go. Very soon, you will be able to access your UltraViolet library from connected TVs, connected Blu-ray players and other devices.

and more. It’s been called a great “one stop” place for everything entertainment. As the industry rolls out additional UltraViolet services, you will be able to watch your UltraViolet titles through those channels as well. Current and upcoming UltraViolet-enabled titles include Horrible Bosses, Green Lantern, Crazy Stupid Love, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, Shameless (the TV series), The Smurfs, Friends With Benefits, Cowboys & Aliens, The Hangover, Part II, One Tree Hill: The Complete 8th Season, Final Destination 5, and Underworld Trilogy: The Essential Collection.

How It Works The easiest way to start watching your UltraViolet digital copies is to set up a free account through Flixster.com. It’s the industry’s first service that allows consumers to redeem, collect, manage and watch their UltraViolet digital copies, either on the Flixster website or through an app. It’s also a destination where you can browse the entire world of movies and TV shows, connect with friends through Facebook, read movie reviews
