Linthurst Court Linthurst Road | Barnt Green | Worcestershire

LINTHURST COURT A magnificent eight bedroom Victorian residence standing in beautifully manicured grounds, Linthurst Court is a property which epitomises the notion of grandeur. Built in 1868, the property has a fantastic sense of history and sits in nearly 14 acres of grounds. Only by internal inspection may the true charm and character of this beautiful family home be fully appreciated.

The property is approached from Linthurst Road via a secure, electronically gated entrance, leading to a tree lined driveway which gives access to the garaging and extensive frontage. An entrance porch opens in to the grand entrance hall, which has parquet flooring and elegant oak panelling, as does the drawing room. Both the drawing room and impressively large lounge have multi-fuel burners, making these rooms particularly cosy in the colder months. There is also a study, providing a useful work area and a guest w.c./ cloakroom. A cellar offers very useful storage space and potential to convert in to further living accommodation, if required. I love the main entrance hall and the drawing for their oak panelling and sense of grandeur, says Binod, while my wife Anjana really loves the open plan kitchen.

The spacious, open plan fitted kitchen and breakfast room, which lead to the utility room, is the heart of this wonderful home. Granite worksurfaces, a range style cooker, island unit and larder/pantry make this a superb ‘cooks kitchen’. The south-west facing dining room with sitting area, can accommodate approximately 18 people for a sit down meal, and the current owners often host dinner parties here. There is a vestibule with shower room which leads down to a hugely impressive feature of this home – an indoor leisure complex, having a swimming pool, jacuzzi/hot tub, sauna and snooker table, completing the picture of luxury living. We have a 70ft x 40ft indoor swimming complex complete with sauna and Jacuzzi, say Binod and Anjana, which is just fantastic.

Seller Insight Linthurst Court is a magnificent 8 bedroom Victorian residence standing in beautifully manicured grounds and epitomises the notion of grandeur. Built in 1868, the property has a fantastic sense of history and sits in nearly 14 acres, offering plenty of space. “It has everything one could need” say current owners Binod and Anjana. A grand entrance hall and drawing room are elegantly oak panelled, while the large open plan kitchen is the hub of this spacious home. The dining room can accommodate 18 people for a sit down meal, and the current owners often host dinner parties here. All 8 bedrooms are generously sized and bright. An indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna complete the picture of luxury living. In perhaps the most sought after area of Bimingham, Linthurst Road stretches for 1 ½ miles but only has 15 or 16 houses, meaning that each has plenty of surrounding land. The house is kept private behind electronically operated security gates. The huge garden at Linthurst Court is beautifully landscaped and boasts 70 trees. “Most of my free time is spent relaxing in the garden” says Binod. Barnt Green enjoys a lovely green and leafy location in the heart of the Lickey Hills and Woods. Over 800ft above sea level, the Lickey Hills are locally referred to as little Switzerland, and offer plenty of forest walks and trails. The village itself boasts a variety of shops and amenities including chemist, an excellent butchers, opticians, fashion boutique and dentist, while just 6 miles away is a large supermarket. There are schools and colleges locally providing excellent educational opportunities. Barnt Green is regarded as one of the best residential areas and lies to the south-west of Birmingham City Centre with Junction 2 on the M42 motorway providing easy access to the Midland Motorway network and Solihull, Birmingham City Centre and Birmingham airport are within around a 30 minute drive away.

The first floor landing offers a further sense of grandeur with a beautiful stained-light window being a particular focal point. Doors radiate to six bright and generously sized bedrooms, three of which have en-suites, a useful store room, family bathroom and separate shower room. To the second floor are fitted wardrobes and two bedrooms with a shower room, offering excellent, additional guest accommodation.

We held our son’s marriage reception here” say Binod and Anjana. “We had around 400 guests in the house and garden, and 100 cars parked in the driveway. The property certainly lends itself to entertaining. Outside, there are stunning, beautifully maintained gardens and extensive parking areas, including a triple garage and further, detached single garage. The well-established grounds are truly a joy to behold, with a large feature fish pond and a ‘woodland style walk’ being particularly notable features. There is a paddock being circa 8 acres, which is separate from the main gardens and can be accessed from the road, allowing for a range of uses.

BARNT GREEN Barnt Green sits adjacent to open countryside and the rolling Lickey Hills, ideal for those wishing to pursue rural leisure pursuits, including walking and riding, whilst the Worcester and Birmingham canal also lies close at hand. The village boasts an extensive range of shops, medical and dental practices, as well as a highly regarded and Ofsted Outstanding primary school, sports and recreation ground, two churches, together with popular public houses and restaurants. Barnt Green also gives its name to both a long established cricket club and sailing club. Barnt Green provides an excellent rail link into Worcester and Birmingham city centres, whilst the nearby motorway network allows ready access to a variety of destinations both local and regional, making this delightful location ideal for the modern day commuter.

The mall, designed with a glass atrium roof as its centre piece, is home to over 60 stores across 500,000 sq ft with John Lewis as main anchor. Many of the shops, restaurants and cafés are new to the city including Cath Kidston, The White Company, Kiehls and Giraffe. Alongside outstanding museums and galleries you’ll find an increasing number of gastronomic restaurants, cool and/or secret cocktail bars and picturesque canals with waterside bars, restaurants, attractions and cruises. Thriving legacies of Birmingham’s industrial heritage include its Jewellery Quarter, Cadbury manufacturing plant and a former custard factory that’s been transformed into a cutting-edge creative hub. With construction on the High Speed Rail (HS2) line – connecting London with Birmingham in just 45 minutes by 2026 – set to boost employment and the economy, ‘Brum’, as it’s dubbed by locals, is buzzing.
