After about 15 minutes, we headed over to the First Tee. When I stopped the cart, I looked at the Score Card on the steering wheel, and noticed that it had today’s date on it. I asked Josh about this and he said that every morning each player receives a new score card with all current yardage, exact hole locations, and all applicable information included for that particular day! That was a nice added feature! There were also healthy snacks, apples and water available for the players.

As we played, each hole presented new challenges giving the feeling that every hole was different, rather than feeling very similar. The putting surface of each green was stunning, seemingly void of imperfections. The ball rolled true and the greens were fast! After I finished a hole, I would look up to observe the absolutely beautiful surroundings and natural preserve, trying and take it all in and prolong my experience. I felt like I was in a bubble of golf Utopia!

As we were approaching the 18th green, I was feeling very happy about the day, but disappointed that it was ending. The 18th hole is a beautiful par 5 with a winding fairway leading up to a green protected by a lake. Justin was a great caddie and was extremely helpful!

After we finished 18 holes I met with Betty Ayala who is the Assistant Membership Director for a tour of the clubhouse. We re-visited the golf-shop and then made our way upstairs to see the 10 hotel rooms inside the clubhouse. Each room was fantastic and beautifully appointed. They all seemed like luxury suites and were all named after famous golfers. Many had balconies with panoramic views! This was truly an amazing place! After waving goodbye, getting in my car, and pulling out of the club, I took a deep breath, and realized that I just played one of the best courses in the United States!

LUXURY MARKET GAINS MOMENTUM IN 2014 OVERALL CLOSED SALES FOR HOMES IN EVERY PRICE CATEGORY ABOVE $300,000 Naples, Fla. (January 16, 2015) – Double digit increases in 2014, making broker analysts contend that it was the third best year in sales history within the last 10 years. According to the Annual 2014 Market Report released by the Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®), which tracks home listings and sales within Collier County (excluding Marco Island), inventory increased 16 percent for homes in the $2 million and above category from 394 in 2013 to 457 in 2014. The report also showed overall closed sales in this price category increased 33 percent from 299 homes in 2013 to 399 homes in 2014, yet the overall median home price in this high-end price category held steady year over year at $2,950,000. “Even though the report shows overall inventory decreased 6 percent in 2014, it increased in several price categories including the very high end. Interestingly however, and as indicated by the report, prices for luxury homes held steady. There appears to be clear indication of price stabilization,” said Coco Waldenmeyer, managing broker at John R. Wood Properties. “Yes. That’s true,” commented Cindy Carroll, SRA, with the real estate appraisal and consultancy firm of Carroll & Carroll, Inc. “The market in general is trending toward a balance of supply and demand and value stabilization. Some market sectors may have reached their peak for this economic cycle in the fall of 2014 while other areas will demonstrate continued value growth in 2015.” Buyers looking for single family homes in 2015 will be pleased as the report indicated a 3 percent increase in inventory for single family homes from 2,260 in 2013 to 2,321 in 2014. As noted by Rick Fioretti, NABOR® President Elect and Broker Associate with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Florida Realty, this may be due to what the industry calls a “sleeping inventory,” or sellers who were unaware of the market’s improvement and upon exploring their options with a REALTOR® decided to place the home for sale. While closed sales stood firm at a 3 percent increase for condominiums in 2014, inventory in the condominium market did not fare as well as single family homes in 2014. The report indicated a 14 percent decrease in condominium inventory from 2,354 in 2013 to 2,030 in 2014. The only price category that experienced an increase was the $300,000 to $500,000 price category. It increased 13 percent from 408 condominiums in 2013 to 462 condominiums in 2014. Broker analysts argue that this may be due, in part, to bracket creep, which is what happens when a home’s value increases to a point that it surpasses its current category’s threshold and gets pushed into the price category above it. The fact that inventory for condominiums in the $300,000 and below price category decreased 23 percent is further evidence of the bracket creep.

The NABOR® Annual 2014 Market Report provides comparisons of single-family home and condominium sales (via the Southwest Florida MLS), price ranges, and geographic segmentation and includes an overall market summary. The NABOR® Annual 2014 sales statistics are presented in chart format, including these overall (single-family and condominium) findings: • Overall pending sales decreased 5 percent from 11,065 in 2013 to 10,494 in 2014. • Pending sales for single family homes in the $2 million and above price category increased 28 percent from 249 in 2013 to 319 in 2014. • Pending sales for condominiums in the $1 million to $2 million category increased 11 percent from 262 in 2013 to 292 in 2014. • Overall closed sales increased 1 percent from 9,723 in 2013 to 9,826 in 2014. • Overall closed sales for homes in the $1 million to $2 million category increased 21 percent from 516 in 2013 to 623 in 2014. • Overall closed sales for homes in the $2 million and above category increased 33 percent from 299 in 2013 to 399 in 2014. • Overall median closed price increased 13 percent from $240,000 in 2013 to $270,000 in 2014. • Overall inventory decreased 6 percent from 4,614 homes in 2013 to 4,351 homes in 2014. • Average days on market for 2014 was at 82. As noted by Bill Coffey, Broker Manager of Amerivest Realty Naples, the Naples housing market’s momentum is evident when you compare quarterly sales activity for 2014. Closed sales started with a 5 percent increase in the first quarter, but then fell 4 and 11 percent respectively during the second and third quarters. But for the fourth quarter, sales were up 9 percent. Industry predictions of a self-correcting market have come true. A return to a balanced housing market can be seen in the NABOR® Annual 2014 Market Report because, even though sales increased by double digits for homes above $300,000, the median home price did not shift. Salmon

2- 8 ounce salmon fillets, skin removed 1 cup shredded carrots 1 cup thinly sliced onions 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced 1 bunch asparagu, trimmed to 6 inches 1 teaspoons freshly grated lemon peel 2 teaspoons thinly sliced green onions Salt, to season salmon Black pepper, freshly ground, to season salmon Vegetable oil, to brush on parchment paper 2 lemon wedges

Risotto 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter 1 large shallot, diced small Coarse salt and ground pepper 1 cup Arborio or Carnaroli rice 1/2 cup dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan (1/4 ounce)

HOW TO PREPARE RISOTTO 1. In a medium saucepan, bring broth to a simmer; reduce heat and keep warm. In a 10-inch heavy-bottomed skillet or pot, heat 2 tablespoons butter over medium-high. Add shallot, season with salt and pepper, and cook until beginning to soften, about 4 minutes. Add rice and cook, stirring, until rice is translucent at edges, 1 minute. 2. Add wine and stir until evaporated, about 2 minutes. With a ladle, add about 1 cup broth to skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, until broth is absorbed, 4 minutes. Repeat, gradually adding broth by the cupful and stirring constantly, until rice is tender but still al dente and sauce is creamy (you may not need all of broth), 20 to 25 minutes. 3. Remove skillet from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons butter and Parmesan. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

HOW TO PREPARE SALMON 1. Preheat oven to 450°F 2. Cut two 18 inch long by 15 inch wide pieces of parchment paper. Fold the long side in half and cut into a heart-shape. The parchment paper should be large enough to contain one portion of fish and vegetables folded in half 3. Brush each piece of parchment paper with vegetable oil. 4. Toss the sliced onions and shredded carrots together in a small bowl. Evenly portion the asparagus spears on half of each piece of oiled parchment paper. Place 1 cup of the onion and carrot mixture on top of the asparagus. 5. Place one portion of salmon on each portion of vegetables, season generously with salt and pepper. 6. Top each portion of fish with sliced garlic, ½ teaspoon of lemon peel, and 1 teaspoon sliced green onions. Add 1 tablespoon of the basil compound butter on top of the fish. 7. Fold the other half of the parchment paper over the fish and vegetables. Starting at one corner, tightly crimp the edges of the paper to seal it. 8. Place the pouches (papillote) on a sheet pan and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. When baked, the parchment paper should puff up and brown slightly. Remove from the oven and serve immediately. Transfer the envelope to a plate; the envelope should be carefully cut open and served with a lemon wedge.

As the New Year begins and we say goodbye to 2014, it brings forth a rebirth to our lives with resolutions and new goals for 2015. Â In the interior design world, a new year means fresh and sensational design solutions, styles, and ideas. Here are five design developments that you will see in the upcoming year.

Mixing rustic with modern – What is old is new again with a twist. A look that you will see in 2015 is the combination of mixing older traditional pieces with new modern styles. Using a rustic farmhouse kitchen table with metal contemporary chairs is a way in which you will see this design idea put into motion. When combining rustic elements with modern pieces, you should always try to keep balance and scale in mind. When you incorporate heavy pieces, complement it with ones that are understated and have clean lines. The comeback of the sectional - Just as clothing is a reflection of our own personal style, so is the furniture we select for our home. We are stepping away from museum-like spaces meant just to be looked at, and moving to transitional spaces for entertaining and living in. The right sectional can make a room cozy, functional and comfortable, yet also sets the tone of the space. Sectionals now come in many shapes, sizes, and styles from traditional to ultra-modern. The right sectional that fits your lifestyle is inviting enough to curl up on, and will also create visual interest defining your space.

A great way to make an impression with a light fixture is to hang a chandelier. Chandeliers capture your eye because of their size, shape, and style. The right chandelier can take a blah space and turn it to an incredible one. The chandelier is truly the centerpiece of a room and creates a focal point within your interior.

Blue and white - Incorporating a blue and white color palette is a timeless and classic look that creates an all-American feeling. The combination dates back to the ninth century where blue pigments were used to create designs and motifs on white pottery in China. Also, during the 18th century, blue and white fabrics began being created and became prominent in France. Blue and white are appealing because they are calming colors that appeal to our senses. The color blue reduces stress, and evokes a sense of tranquility and peacefulness. Since it is such a strong contrast, just a few blue and white pieces will really make a big impact in a space. A great way to incorporate this serene palette is to bring in blue and white ginger jars and accessories. It doesn’t just have to follow the blue and white theme - they can actually be tied into any existing room.

Large - scale patterns - The trick with combining large-scale patterns is finding the right combination of scale and balance. Patterns come in many different styles and varieties, from natural scenes of flowers and birds, to geometric chevrons, stripes and trellis-like patterns. A great way to tie large-scale patterns together is to unify them through a cohesive color. It’s best to have different styles of patterns so they complement, rather than compete with each other. One strategy to incorporate a large-scale pattern into your home is to use a large design on your window treatments or area rug.
