Layered Spaghetti Pie 3/4 box spaghetti noodles (using 1 lb. box) 3/4 lb. ground beef (can use ground turkey as substitute/or meatless for vegetarian spaghetti pie) spaghetti sauce salt (or sea salt), pepper 8 oz. cottage cheese 1/2 cup sour cream 8 oz. cream cheese 1/4 cup green onions 2 tablespoons butter (melted) Cook spaghetti and drain. Fry ground beef and drain. Add spaghetti sauce, salt and pepper. Remove from heat. In separate bowl, combine cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream and green onions. In a 1 quart casserole, spread 1/2 spaghetti, cover with cheese mixture. Add remainder of spaghetti and pour melted butter over. Top with spaghetti sauce. Chill at least 1 hour. Remove from the refrigerator 20 minutes before baking. Bake 350* for 45 minutes (may also be prepared in a crockpot).

Today’s focus is educating the children in Immokalee in an effort to break the cycle of poverty through education. Today the Center provides: w Early Childhood Education w After-school & Summer Educational Programs w Tutor Corps Program The Early Childhood Education program serves 270 at-risk children, six weeks to five years of age, most living in low income households in Immokalee. Currently there are over 300 children on the wait list. The After-school & Summer Educational Programs serve 650 and 300 at-risk students, respectively. These programs provide students with a safe environment after school and in the summer where learning can continue with the help of our qualified teachers and our Tutor Corps students. The main components of Tutor Corps include: Employment, Adult Mentors, College Prep, Scholarships and Long-Term College Support. For the past 8 years, 100% of our Tutor Corps students have graduated from high school; 90% of the students attending college complete their schooling and obtain rewarding careers.
Back to School Shoes & Supplies Drive
Each year, children in Immokalee lack the basic supplies they need to make a successful start to the new school year. For parents in Immokalee, new shoes and supplies for school are not options when competing with other necessities such as food and rent. That is why each year, the Guadalupe Center holds its annual Back to School Shoes & Supplies Drive. Between August 11th and August 15th, 50 children a day will be brought to Snyderman’s Shoes in Naples to be fitted for brand new shoes. This trip to Naples is a highlight of their summer, and for many, this is their first pair of new shoes. You can help these children get the shoes and supplies they need by donating new child-sized shoes, school supplies or by making a monetary donation. New shoes and supplies can be dropped off at our resale shop located at, 8100 Trail Blvd in Naples, just south of the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Vanderbilt Beach Road. 60 PERCENT OF THE MARKET EXPERIENCED INVENTORY GROWTH 2Q REPORT INDICATES HOUSING MARKET IS ON PACE TO BE A GREAT YEAR Naples, Fla. (July 17, 2015) – According to the Second Quarter 2015 Market Report released by the Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®), which tracks home listings and sales within Collier County (excluding Marco Island), 60 percent of the market experienced inventory growth, and overall sales activity remained on pace with activity experienced in the second quarter of 2014. The report also indicated a 9 percent increase in pending sales (quarter over quarter) for homes priced above $300,000. These factors and other statistics in the 2Q 2015 Market Report have led broker analysts to conclude another great year is very likely. “In this quarter last year, 44 percent of pending sales [homes under contract] were for homes in the price category over $300,000,” said Brett Brown, a Broker/Salesperson for Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. “The current report shows us that the number of pending sales has increased to 53 percent of the market.” Brown pointed out that from 2010 to 2012 80 percent of all pending sales were composed of homes under $300,000. But second quarter reports for 2014 and 2015 identify a shift took place in pending sales activity to homes at higher price points within the market. And while inventory in the under $300,000 price category decreased 24 percent in the 2Q of 2015 (the same rate as in the 1Q of 2015); this price segment no longer makes up the majority of the market’s inventory. Broker analysts contend that the market was quite different 10 years ago with a lot of flipping and loose financing going on. But the consumer and industry setting is different today. The 2Q 2015 Market Report revealed where the differences occurred like median closed price, where prices for homes between $300,000 and $2 million leveled out increasing or decreasing 0 to 2 percent. Other differences revealed in the 2Q Report are a gradual increase in financed homes to 38.3 percent of the market in June 2015, and a non-traditional market (short sales and foreclosures) that is dwindling at just 7 percent of the market. “Prior to 2014, prices in all segments were going up,” said Tom Bringardner, Jr., President/CEO of Premier Commercial. “But a sideby-side comparison of overall activity for the first six months of last year to this year signifies a different climate where the market has reached stabilization.” According to the 2Q 2015 Market Report, the Naples area experienced a 14 percent increase in overall median closed price from $255,000 in the 12-months ending 2Q of 2014 to $290,000 in the 12-months ending 2Q of 2015. Yet this increase was driven by increases at both ends of the market spectrum during this time period; i.e., an 11 percent increase in homes under $300,000, and a 15 percent increase in homes $2M and above. Incidentally, the median closed price for homes in price categories over $300,000 and under $2M decreased 1 percent. Pockets of market highs and lows will continue to appear in the area, as demand and location continue to be major market influencers. For example, the report showed an 83 percent increase in inventory for
condominiums in the $2M and above price category from 29 units in the 2Q of 2014 to 53 units in the 2Q of 2015, and a 23 percent decrease in condominium inventory in the Naples Beach area from 476 units in the 2Q of 2014 to 368 units in the 2Q of 2015. Inventory for single-family homes continued to rise in the 2Q of 2015 with a 9 percent increase from 1,964 single-family homes in the 2Q of 2014 to 2,133 single-family homes in the 2Q of 2015. Whereas the condominium market saw an 11 percent decrease in inventory for 2Q 2015 from 1,759 condominiums in the 2Q 2014 to 1,565 condominiums in the 2Q of 2015. The NABOR® 2Q 2015 Market Report provides comparisons of single-family home and condominium sales (via the Southwest Florida MLS), price ranges, and geographic segmentation and includes an overall market summary. The NABOR® 2Q 2015 sales statistics are presented in chart format, including these overall (single-family and condominium) findings: • Overall pending sales decreased 4 percent from 2,949 in the 2Q of 2014 to 2,843 in the 2Q of 2015. • Overall closed sales remained flat with no increase or decrease reported in the 2Q of 2015. • Closed sales for condominiums in the $300,000 to $500,000 price category increased 38 percent from 682 in the 2Q of 2014 to 938 in the 2Q of 2015. • Overall median closed price increased 14 percent from $255,000 in the 12-months ending 2Q of 2014 to $290,000 in the 12-months ending 2Q of 2015. • Overall inventory decreased 1 percent from 3,723 homes in the 2Q of 2014 to 3,698 homes in the 2Q of 2015. • Overall inventory for homes in the under $300,000 price category decreased 24 percent from 1,366 homes in the 2Q of 2014 to 1,036 homes in the 2Q of 2015. • Inventory for single-family homes in the $500,000 to $1M price category increased 32 percent from 456 single-family homes in the 2Q of 2014 to 604 single-family homes in the 2Q of 2015. • Average days on market decreased 20 percent from 94 days in the 2Q of 2014 to 75 days in the 2Q of 2015.

WEDDING CAKE WITH LEXIE WARD FROM “TONY’S OFF THIRD” INTERVIEW BY CORRIE RITZ FINE: What got you interested in baking? LEXIE: I grew up baking with my grandmother. It seems as if we were baking cookies and pies every day of the week! Other than spending so much time with her in the kitchen, my favorite part about baking with her was that we always gave the treats away. We'd drive around town stopping with plates of cookies at family member’s and friend’s houses. She is the reason I decided to go to culinary school and pursue a career in baking and pastries! I've never looked back! FINE: What are the big trends in wedding cakes this year? LEXIE: Three big trends this year have been Sparkles, Rustic, and Pastels. The Silver & Pink cake is an extremely new technique that has taken 2015 by storm! The sparkling sugar sequins add such a fun texture and glittering effect that you
wouldn't expect. Naked Cakes have been another huge rage this year. We're continuing the rustic theme, but in a fresher way this year. I love to jazz it up with fresh berries, florals, and who doesn't love a good chocolate ganache drip down the side? Lastly, Pastels came back this year and definitely achieve the delicate and romantic look so many brides look for on their wedding day. This cake is hand painted to create an embroidery effect and the limes add a fresh Florida Vibe! FINE: Do you have any tips for brides as they choose a wedding cake? LEXIE: It's always helpful to have a good estimate on how many guests you're expecting. So much of the design will be affected by the size the cake needs to be. I like to ask my brides what kind of feeling they want their special day to evoke? Is it a fun and whimsical party, or
a romantic and timeless event? There are so many tools available for brides that it's easy to quickly find a cake you like on the Internet. However, it's important to understand that every artist is different and no one can create the exact same design. Allow some room for creativity and brainstorming so your cake artist can create something custom and specific to you as a couple. FINE: What do you love about Naples? LEXIE: I love Naples! I've been spending a lot of my free time at the Botanical Gardens and have found so much inspiration there. I'm constantly seeing new plants and flowers that I want to try to mimic in sugar. We're so fortunate to be so close to the Gulf! I love taking walks down the pier and keeping my eyes peeled for a dolphin!

As the New Year begins and we say goodbye to 2014, it brings forth a rebirth to our lives with resolutions and new goals for 2015. Â In the interior design world, a new year means fresh and sensational design solutions, styles, and ideas. Here are five design developments that you will see in the upcoming year.
Mixing rustic with modern – What is old is new again with a twist. A look that you will see in 2015 is the combination of mixing older traditional pieces with new modern styles. Using a rustic farmhouse kitchen table with metal contemporary chairs is a way in which you will see this design idea put into motion. When combining rustic elements with modern pieces, you should always try to keep balance and scale in mind. When you incorporate heavy pieces, complement it with ones that are understated and have clean lines. The comeback of the sectional - Just as clothing is a reflection of our own personal style, so is the furniture we select for our home. We are stepping away from museum-like spaces meant just to be looked at, and moving to transitional spaces for entertaining and living in. The right sectional can make a room cozy, functional and comfortable, yet also sets the tone of the space. Sectionals now come in many shapes, sizes, and styles from traditional to ultra-modern. The color blue reduces stress, and evokes a sense of tranquility and peacefulness. Since it is such a strong contrast, just a few blue and white pieces will really make a big impact in a space. A great way to incorporate this serene palette is to bring in blue and white ginger jars and accessories. It doesn’t just have to follow the blue and white theme - they can actually be tied into any existing room.

Large - scale patterns - The trick with combining large-scale patterns is finding the right combination of scale and balance. Patterns come in many different styles and varieties, from natural scenes of flowers and birds, to geometric chevrons, stripes and trellis-like patterns. A great way to tie large-scale patterns together is to unify them through a cohesive color. It’s best to have different styles of patterns so they complement, rather than compete with each other. One strategy to incorporate a large-scale pattern into your home is to use a large design on your window treatments or area rug.
