children’s store for the past 9 years. I started out in the Women’s Contemporary World before venturing into the Children’s World and I am now back in the Women’s World, which I love! I feel like I have a knack for merchandising and styling clients.

Kristy: Thank you! It’s been so much fun to pick out all the items with

My business partner, Pam, has a great sense of fashion and loves looking at pieces from the runway and translating them into everyday life. She’s not afraid to take risks and has a great love for fashion, which I love about her!

FINE: What inspired you to open this new boutique? Kristy: It has always been a dream of ours to open a women’s boutique where women feel good about themselves! After several years of being asked by my Gigi’s Children’s Boutique customers to expand into Women’s fashion, we finally did it! Pam has been a long-time customer of Gigi’s and loves fashion so we partnered together to open this new venture and put both of our personal styles and ideas on everything. We are thrilled to be able to offer a contemporary and sophisticated boutique to the Naples area!

FINE: Where did the name come from? Kristy: We wanted something unique that would stand out from the ordinary and “Millstead” is Pam’s maiden name. It’s bold, strong and sophisticated which describes our store and has a family meaning to it, which I really like!

FINE: Are you still carrying a children’s line? Kristy: Yes we still have our children’s section with Newborn to Girls size 16, and Boys sizes up to size 8. We also have our baby gifting and accessories and I still have my own line, Grace Addison Collection, which is being sold at Millstead Boutique.

FINE: What has changed/stayed the same? Kristy: Our staff has all remained the same from Gigi’s so the same friendly faces that have been waiting on our customers for several years are still here with us and ready to serve all of our existing and new customers. Customer service is extremely important to Pam and I so we do offer complimentary gift wrapping, shipping and we have a coffee bar so you can enjoy a coffee while you shop and enjoy all our new women’s clothing!

lines are you carrying and type of clothes (workout/casual/dressy)? our customers in mind and also to plan the store. We have something for everyone from 30 years of age to over 65. There hasn’t been one customer that has come in yet that we haven’t been able to find something for. We carry all major lines like Saks & Nordstrom, as well as boutique brands that are unique to our store and our area. We carry all categories from Yoga wear, pajamas, lounge wear, and comfy casual, to dressy, club wear, dinner-wear and even cocktail dresses. With jewelry, we have the best jewelry and accessories! We offer jewelry and gifting in all categories and all price points. Some of our jewelry is hand made just for us with pearls and different types of metals.

FINE: As a wife, mom, and a storeowner, how do you stay on task? Do you have a daily routine?

Kristy: I can’t take credit for everything! I have a wonderful business partner that trusts me and my vision and who also helps to push me to be the better version of myself. I also have an amazing staff that is so supportive of my role as a Mom and a business owner, they are always there to help pick up the pieces to make sure I don’t miss out on my kid’s school musical concerts, baseball games and gymnastic practices. I also have a very supportive husband and family. It truly takes a village and my Millstead family is my village!

FINE: What are some of your favorite items in the store? Kristy: That is such a hard question! We have so many favorite things! Pam really loves our “Perle by Lola” jewelry. They are beautiful hand-made pearl and beaded necklaces and bracelets that you can wear with anything. We love to layer them! I really love our leather coated jeans and all the different tops to pair with them! They have a zipper along the back of the legs and are very stretchy and comfortable! They look good on every body type and I’ve sold them to all ages. I just re-ordered more since we sold out of them right away!

2-3 pounds boneless veal shoulder, cut into 3 inch pieces Salt and freshly ground pepper All-purpose flour for dusting 1 cup each of diced tomatoes, celery, onions, peas, & peppers 4 cloves garlic, chopped 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1 teaspoon ground fennel 1 teaspoon minced rosemary 1 cup red wine 4 cups veal stock or beef broth 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) 2 pounds Pappardelle pasta Whole Butter Parmigiano cheese DIRECTIONS: STEP 1 Season the veal with salt and pepper and dust with flour, tapping off the excess

STEP 2 Add the remaining 1/4 cup of oil to the sauce pan Stir in the chopped onion, garlic, coriander and fennel and cook over low heat for 5 minutes Add the wine and boil until reduced to 1/3 cup, 5 minutes Add the chopped tomatoes, celery, peas, and peppers and cook over moderately high heat for 5 minutes Add the stock and rosemary and bring to a boil Add the veal, cover partially and cook over low heat until very tender, about 2 hours STEP 3 Remove the meat Boil the sauce until slightly reduced, about 10 minutes Stir in the meat STEP 4 In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pappardelle until al dente Drain and return to the pot Add the mixture from the saucepan and toss over low heat until the pasta is coated Ready to Serve, serving size for 4

NAVIGATING LIFE INSURANCE Part II: The Goldilocks of Life Insurance

In our last article of our series, we explored the differences between term life insurance and permanent life insurance.

These products provide a fixed rate of growth, which protects you from market fluctuations, but limits your potential earnings. Keep in mind, fixed policies are typically subject to the risk of the insurance company’s performance and factors.

Naturally, each life insurance plan poses its own strengths and weaknesses. Term life insurance is the least expensive of the two and the most appropriate when solving short-term liquidity needs. However, the downside to this terminable insurance policy is that if the insured outlives the policy, there will be no death benefits to claim.

Indexed: Indexed universal life insurance is often pitched as the best of both worlds; providing consistent, moderate to high growth through investments in index funds. This type of policy will typically reflect broad market indexes like the S&P 500, DJIA, etc., therefore garnering less risk.

On the contrary, permanent life insurance is ideal for long-term planning; providing coverage until death and doubling as a tax protected investment vehicle. However, because of the security and financial benefits of this promising insurance policy, it can be very expensive.

A final factor to consider when choosing universal life insurance is the concept of guarantees. While the right universal life policy can be fruitful, it is critical to look closely at the fine print for details including participation rates, sequence of returns, lack of dividend payouts and caps before purchasing. Often, due to the flexibility that universal life insurance provides, there is more room for confusion.

Many times, the most suitable insurance policy for you may not lie at the polar ends of the spectrum, but rather somewhere in between. Universal Life Insurance: It’s not too hot, it’s not too cold, it’s just right...

In summary, universal life is an ideal choice for those looking to leverage the death benefits of a term life policy with the cash value of a permanent life policy, with added flexibility.
