The elegance of the hall can be seen in its many fine paintings and unique antiques. We have lovingly restored the old orangery and this can now be the setting for your ceremony if you wish. Whatever you want for your day, we will build an experience around you.
Situated in the idyllic consevration of Woodborough, on the outskirts of Nottingham. This grade II* listed Hall makes a great choice for your event. Just a ten minute drive to the city centre while enjoying the rolling countryside of Nottinghamshire, it is an ideal location to celebrate with friends and family.
What brings the hall and your day to life is the fantastic team who keep the hall running. Des Sweeney, former chef at Buckingham Palace and his brigade have a deservedly high reputation. Equally our front of house team will ensure every detail is taken care of and that everything runs flawlessly.
Woodborough Hall is steeped in history. There are records going back to the 7th Century, former owners have included William the Conqueror’s son, the Sheriff of Nottingham and more recently the Parkyn family, who built the current hall in 1600 as well as Mallory Leigh who won the battle of Britain. It is this proud heritage that you become a part of and which adds to the grandeur of the day.

A Brief History

When you choose Woodborough Hall you become part of it’s rich history. Briefly, the hall dates back as far at the 7th century, with records showing that in 1066 it was owned by Ulchel a Saxon Thane, it was taken by William the Conquerors son, subsequently gifting it to a loyal knight who renamed himself ‘De Woodburg.
The manor over the next few centuries had a multitude of owners and inhabitants and went through many stages of structual change and renovation. Its uses have been diverse and plentiful, from a family home to official residence for the RAF and Army.
In 1660 it was Philip Lacock who built the hall you see today. With the third floor and slate roof added by the rev. Philip Story in 1798.
Presently it is owned by the Lock Family who continue to restore the hall offering an elegant but relaxed place for dining, drinking and hospitality.

The Ceremony

Woodborough Hall is licensed to host both civil wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships. We can cater for small, intimate parties right the way through to large, fully hosted evening receptions. Whatever your individual needs, you can rely on us to make your big day unforgettable and create the luxurious setting for you to exchange vows. We are licensed in the main hall and our Orangery, both truly unique and magical settings. It is your individual preference as to which room you choose, the grandeur of our main room or the floral aspect of the Orangery. The choice is yours, whether you choose to have the hall exclusively or not, we hold only one wedding on any day so we can be very flexible. Our license accomodates 80 guests sitting down for the ceremony, simply by guests standing, this can be opened up to larger parties.

Couples wishing to be married at Woodborough Hall should check with the superintendent registrar to ensure that their preferred date is available before they make a booking with us. Food & Drink
Here at Woodborough Hall we know how important it is to be treated as individuals: We do not have set menus, instead we will work closely with you to devise a menu specifically for your day. Rest assured, you are in very safe hands with our head chef Des Sweeney, who worked for many years in Buckingham Palace as a Royal chef, and previously at the House of Lords. We have a great number of local producers supplying us with their foods. From fabulous local cheese makers to free-range animal produce from nearby farms, only the finest ingredients are used within our kitchens.
Our guiding principle is quite simple: To source and prepare the seasonal produce on our doorstep, real food with true flavors. As we make everything on the premises we know all of our ingredients, and exactly where they have come from. If you should have any dietary concerns please do not hesitate to let us know. We always cater very well for vegetarians. You will see our cellar as you enter, built into the ancient cellars that run under the hall. Well stocked with a knowledgeable staff, we can assist in any choices and again will source something specific and individual. From great house wine through to the finest Bordeaux and Burgundy we have something for everyone, all reasonably priced.
We are meticulous, obsessive and passionate about good food. In our quest for perfection we even travel to Rungis Market in Paris to obtain an array of stocks freshly available to include the finest of herbs, spices and cheeses.
