Admitted Student Checklist -- for International Citizens. Please use this checklist to complete these important steps for enrolling at Calvin. Questions? Please email intladm@calvin.edu. This month . . . o Admission letter: Your formal letter of admission should arrive by courier in a few weeks. This packet also contains immigration instructions and other important papers. The courier service will not deliver to a PO Box, so if you have not done so, please provide a street address and current phone number where this letter should be sent. A phone number is also required in case the courier service has difficulty delivering the package. If you do not receive your admission letter within 3 weeks, please contact intladm@calvin.edu. o
Financial email: You will be receiving an email from Calvin’s Financial Aid Office informing you of the amount you are expected to contribute towards your educational costs. This will include any financial awards for which you are eligible.

Verify your financial contribution. You will receive an email asking you to verify how you plan to cover your educational costs. As part of this process, a Verification of Financial Documents form will be emailed to you. Please return it with the appropriate information and signatures. If you and your parents live in separate places, each of you may print a copy and return it by FAX (616-526-6777) or scan/e-mail or post mail.

Submit the $2,500 enrollment deposit: Purpose of enrollment deposit Holds a place in the incoming class I-901 SEVIS fee may be paid from it (see I-20 application) Orientation fee of $400 is paid from it Housing fee of $25 is paid from it Balance may be used as a partial tuition payment or will go into a miscellaneous account to pay for books or insurance, etc. To pay your enrollment deposit, you can use the following options: 1. Use the International KnightPay option (if paying with certain currencies) to save on currency exchange fees. See http://www.calvin.edu/financialservices/billing/options/knightpay.html for more information. 2. Complete a wire transfer. For instructions on how to complete a bank wire deposit, please contact Mrs. Jo Cooper, Immigration Coordinator, at jcooper@calvin.edu.

Immigration: Please complete the following forms and return them as soon as possible. Note: Your I-20 will NOT be issued until your deposit and these immigration items are received. An I-20 Application will be e-mailed to you by Mrs. Jo Cooper, Immigration Coordinator. Please complete this form and return it by FAX or scan/e-mail or post mail. The I-20 Application is also located at this link: http://www.calvin.edu/admissions/intl/apply/I-20(2012).pdf A copy of the ID page of your passport must be sent with the I-20 Application.

Activate your e-Enroll account at http://www.calvin.edu/admissions/admits/. Your 7 digit Calvin-ID will be sent by a separate email. Contact helpdesk@calvin.edu if you experience any technical difficulties with your account. Use the e-Enroll to complete the following steps:

Submit your housing application: Please note that your housing application will not be processed until your enrollment deposit is received. Register for International PASSPORT Orientation: Attendance of International Passport is required if you are not a citizen of the U.S.A. (see http://www.calvin.edu/orientation/programs/international-passport)

more information. March/April: o Make an appointment to meet with someone in the Educational Advising Center of the U.S. Embassy before your visa interview. Using the Educational Advising services at the American Embassy will greatly increase your chances of obtaining your visa. http://www.educationusa.info/centers.php o
Make your travel arrangements. Please plan to arrive in Grand Rapids for International PASSPORT on Thursday, August 21; however, you must be here by 2:00 PM on August 22. If you arrive before August 21, you must make your own lodging arrangements. There is no housing available on campus before August 21.

Encourage your parents to attend International PASSPORT. The event begins Friday late afternoon and the parent portion ends late afternoon on the following Tuesday. Housing options for parents are included in the registration information.
May/June: o Ask your high school to send your final transcript or exam results to Calvin Admissions (your academic advisor may use your transcript to assist you in selecting classes for the fall). o
Contact the Orientation Intern confirming your travel plans and arrival time. (orientationintern@calvin.edu)
Anytime: o Email our International Student Admissions Team with any questions you might have about Calvin. Email intladm@calvin.edu and put the name of the student assistant you have been working with in the subject line. o
Let your parents know we are here to serve them as well. If they are experiencing any confusion about who to connect with at the College---ask them to send an email. We will be happy to help them or link to the correct person or department.
