The project 3 Scalini consisted of the remodeling of the old Grappa Bar, to transform it into a fancy new italian restaurant. Its design was based in the concept of “3 SCALINI”, in english “3 STEPS”, representing the 3 countries in which the chef has delighted his clients with his exquisite cuisine; the 3 phases of his career as a chef. The design was carried out under a contemporary style with 3 environments that allude to the 3 steps: an informal lounge

at the entrance, the main lounge and a VIP area. Its base colors were very neutral: beige, white and brown, and colors such as lime and red were used to highlight certain design details, such as the bar, the VIP chairs, lamps and the central column. For this project not only the interior design was made, but also its corporate identity (logo, menus, banners, canvases, business cards and wallpapers).

BEFORE Roma Caffè is the renovation of 2 abandoned commercial premises into an italian restaurant, bar & lounge. Its interior design was made under the concept of “creating a Roman stone in the heart of San José”, aiming to interpret ancient Rome, in a vintage sort of way, and combining it with a very youthful and lively environment to create its contemporary design. Details such as a few stone walls and a dome at the entrance were used to represent the ancient Rome, while others, like the design of the lamps, canvases, and wallpapers were used to give it its vintage touch. To create a youthful environment, bright colors such as orange, lime and red were used, colors that are also known for opening ones appetite. This was a project designed in its whole, including: interior design, complete furniture design, and also its corporate identity design. © 2013

MORILLAS is the interior design proposal of a well-known branding and packaging design office from Spain. The design was made under the concept of creating a folding continuous structure that would generate the various spaces of the office with a touch of an industrial design, leaving all of the air conditioning ducts, and steel columns and beams exposed. It was based in creating a very open, permeable space in which all of the design departments of the office could be in constant interaction with each other; a design in which the private meeting rooms and enclosed spaces are sealed with glass walls, continuing therefore with the constant interaction with what’s going on in the rest of the office, at least visually.

The main color of the office is white, so that the users can decorate their departments with the graphic designs they wish to distinguish one department from the other; designs they can replace whenever they like with another, having an office then that is always in constant change, creating therefore a space in which you feel that, no matter where you stand, as the Morillas motto states: “BRANDING IS IN THE AIR”. For this project the office desks were also designed with the same style as the office’s interior design, with a designated color in its drawers according to each department. A design that comes with an integrated board containing all of the electric, data and voice transmission connections.

SOHO48 is the interior design of aEhome for a single 28 year old L I S AVA graphic designer that wanted to have a space for his office in his home, creating in this way a SOHO. Taking into account that the space of the home was very small, a flexible design that would change, move and adapt depending on the user’s needs was proposed. The home was divided in 3 different areas:an office zone creating a platform on the left of the entrance, followed by the leisure and rest zone towards the end of the home, and the humid zone and kitchen on the right. The idea was to create a wide open space, that when all of the modules are hidden on the sides of the home the user could enjoy a completely sunlit space from both ends of the home and feel that his home is bigger than the 48m2 it has.

Program in the First Floor. After making a thorough site analysis of the Guanacaste area in Costa Rica, I discovered that this zone has a great problem. It turns out that even though the province of Guanacaste is kept alive by a sun and beach tourism, there are also other activities of great importance in this area; activities that define the national character and culture and that somehow are being neglected.

Program in the Second Floor. Such is the case of the city of Santa Cruz, who in spite of being known for its rich folklore and cultural roots, instead of being a magnet for tourists, it has become a city of passage, unfrequented, or unknown by them. For this reason the project TC (tourism + culture) Santa Cruz cultural center was born. A proposal that claims to be a milestone and a means to invite tourists to visit this city, making use of all the elements that identify it as “Costa Rica’s Folkloric City” in one whole space. The project involved not only the architectural design (all designed in wood; a design that integrates and dialogues with the old buildings of the city), but also its interior design, lamps, stands and furniture all designed in white color and wood, so that the food, drinks, and culture of the site itself act as the elements that give color to the project. © 2013
