Novo Imports is not just an importer, we are explorers. As explorers, we strive to search and find exciting and high value products from our target regions.

Mexico Mexico’s most well known product is Tequila. An early variation of this spirit was first produced by the Aztec people by creating a fermented beverage from the agave plant now popularly called pulque. Later, around the 1500s, the Spanish conquistadors ran out of their own brandy, and began to distill this agave drink to produce North America’s first indigenous distilled spirit . Around 1600, Don Pedro Sánchez de Tagle, the Marquis of Altamira, began mass-producing tequila in the territory of modern-day Jalisco.

Spain Novo Imports endlessly searches for the best Spanish wines. Spain is the third largest producer of wine in the world after Italy and France . It has an abundance of grape varieties including Tempranillo, Garnacha, Macabeo, and Monastrell . Key Spanish regions searched by Novo Imports include the world renowned areas of Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Jumilla.

Argentina The Argentine wine industry is the fifth largest producer of wine in the world . Due to the high altitude and low humidity of several of the wine producing regions, Argentine vineyards rarely face the problems of insects, fungi, molds and other grape diseases that affect vineyards in other countries . Novo imports aggressively searches the Mendoza and the Southern Patagonia regions to obtain a nice range of Argentinean grape varieties.

Chile Chilean wine has a long viticultural history dating to the 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors brought Vitis vinifera vines with them as they colonized the region. In the mid-18th century, French wine varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were introduced. The climate has been described as midway between that of California and France . Novo Imports explores Chile to find exciting and high quality wines that satisfy the American palate.

Bodegas Paternina made Hemingway’s favorite Rioja and was also a favored by the poet Robert Graves who kept a room full of it in his house in Deya, Majorca. Paternina leads the field in the vinification, ageing and bottling of Rioja, Sherry and Ribera del Duero wines. It is internationally renowned for its products and has an impressive list of award winning wines and brandies.
