A COACH AND A STEWARD LEADER!

MODI RAISES HIS ARMY OF KARYAKARTAS FOR BATTLEGROUND STATES

NaMo played a key role in strengthening BJP in Haryana by investing time in training the karyakartas for success. His patience and persistence in grooming his army of party workers ensured that the party won elections in the state after 48 years.

There is no doubt that even the fate of a rock can change, only if it is painstakingly and patiently carved out into a diamond. Modiji is special in the fact that he does not lose patience with people. He invests time, energy and focuses on the ordinary workers and is persistent in his efforts to make them shine out and deliver for the party. He gives his all to make people participate effectively and purposefully in the Sangathan as well as in the government. It will be jejune to believe that Modiji gets super karyakartas on a platter; rather he shapes party workers into effective karyakartas through conscientious efforts.

I was given the opportunity to be a Lok Sabha candidate from Ambala. I have distinct memory of the meeting Modiji convened in Sector 16, Panchkula. “How to win elections!” was the topic of discussion in the meeting and Modiji narrated an anecdote to inspire his listeners to win battles.

The story went somewhat like this - Armies had launched a massive attack and one of them was moving ahead towards victory. When it was just 2 to 2.5 km away from winning, the soldiers encountered a huge chasm. The advance came to a halt. Just then, the army commander, appeared from behind and asked “Why have the armies come to a standstill?” The men told him that it was a deep chasm that had stopped them. Neither they nor their horses were capable of crossing that divide. And the hilltop into which they needed to dig their flag of victory was right across this deep opening in the earth. They said “Sir, the hilltop is within our view from here but we can’t reach there.” The battle had to be won, nevertheless. The commander then ordered the first few rows of the battalion to sacrifice their lives by jumping into the chasm and ordered the last few rows to crossover by going over the bodies of their brethren. That is how the battle was won and the flag of victory unfurled!

Modiji then drew a comparison between the party workers and soldiers. He said that karyakartas are the army of the party. He used to inspire the party workers to devote themselves completely to the party, raised the morale of the workers

and appealed to them to be ready to make sacrifices for the party so that no matter what the situation or challenge, the party emerged victorious.

Ever since he took over the reins of the party, BJP has made unprecedented foray in Haryana. The party strengthened and became powerful in the state. He ensured that massive work was done at the grassroots level under his stewardship. This work carved out the path of success for the party and the results since 2000 have proved it. It was after 48 years that the BJP formed the government in Haryana, not once but twice.

Thus, the seeds of these successes were sown by Modiji long before they flourished and blossomed into big wins in the state. Modiji’s leadership inspired the workers and the good work done under his guidance bore fruit.

Not just this, whenever Modiji would assume responsibility of an event or a program, he would ensure that every single detail of the event was clearly laid out. His meticulous planning and tenacious efforts always inevitably resulted in perfect events. For instance, when Advaniji took out a yatra in Haryana, it was as per Modiji’s planning. If it was someone else, Advaniji’s yatra could have easily taken the GT road as its primary route and proceeded to Kurukshetra. But Modiji instead planned to make Advaniji visit the famous, immortal banyan tree in Jyotisar under which Lord Krishna had imparted his teachings of the Gita to Arjuna more than 5000 years ago. In this way, Modiji renders a special touch to everything he does making all his programs unique and perfect!

In 2007, I was in Kutch for 20 days. Elections were on and Modiji was scheduled to address a public meeting in Bhuj. Now Kutch was never on the wishlist of politicians when it came to visits! It was one of the most neglected and ignored regions of Gujarat. And when Modiji started to deliver his speech, he began with the questions “How many Chief Ministers have visited Kutch in 5 years? How many times have they visited Kutch in 5 years?” People responded saying that the ministers had hardly visited once or twice. And then he asked “How many times has Narendra Modi visited Kutch in the last 5 years?” And there was a huge applause and people starting counting the numerous times Modiji had been to Kutch. He had visited Kutch at least 30 to 40 times during his tenure of 5 years as CM. The next question that Modiji posed to the crowd was this - “Do you agree I have the right to ask all of you to vote for me? Do I de-

serve to make this request to you all?” And there was a thunderous applause to this. It was a huge gathering and people raised both their hands in a display of support for Narendra Modi for his second tenure as CM. They, in fact, made it very clear to everyone who was watching, that no one other than Modi had the right to seek their votes because he was 1st CM who had taken care of them.

Choose to begin anew, whenever you so desire, it’s always a new day, a new hour – fresh, innocent and full of wonder.

Modi is now a global leader. Even American President wants his autograph, which, in a way, means that Modi has even conquered America: Dr Chandra

 Were the recently concluded Gujarat elections akin to a national referendum for Narendra Modi?

Also, has it come to pass that Modi has an even bigger stature than the BJP?

Dr Jagdeesh Chandra: If someone brings 156 seats, then it is bound to appear that it was actually a referendum. And the atmosphere was such that it appears it was Modi versus everyone else in Gujarat. And everyone else lost and Modi won. In fact, people argued that this could be taken as a national mood, symbolically speaking. And as far as party is concerned, no one likes to say or hear that a leader has become bigger than the party, but the truth is that for every election, be it Gram Sarpanch to Lok Sabha polls, the party looks up to Modi. Modi is, in a way, an axis of the party. So as far as implementation is concerned, of course, Modi’s stature appears to be bigger than that of the party. Without Modi, the party would appear to be ‘incomplete’ and ‘isolated.’

have some say. So, what then happens is that all power and efforts are then concentrated in the leader or the leader who is the focal point of schemes and policies or the one who makes you win the election and since all that is happening with Modi being at helm, so it may appear that our nation is inching towards the Presidential System and if it is going that way, then it is good as everyone will get a chance. If someone has the power then they can contest the election and if Modi is popular then he will win. So, I do not have any problem on a personal level, if we move towards the Presidential System of governance.

 What does PM Modi’s successful Australia tour mean, since even the Australian PM has said that Modi is the ‘Boss’?

 Do you think the Indian democratic system is heading for a change under Modi? Is it moving towards Presidential system?

See, few people claim that we are moving towards dictatorship, but I don’t buy that view. But yes, I do believe that we may be on the way to the Presidential System, that is to say it is transparent. It is happening without any concentrated effort in this direction. This is happening because all focus is on Modi and others are not working as much. At most, you can include Amit Shah and JP Nadda and may be a handful others, who

It is wonderful and a miracle in itself. For the PM of a nation like Australia, to say such words in their own country for the PM of another nation, it means that Modi is the ‘Boss’ for Australia too. That is its implication. It is a major development. Modi had said in his address that it was not only the Australian government that welcomed him, rather the Opposition and former PMs were also present. That is why the Australian PM said that Modi is the ‘Boss.’ My conclusion in this episode is that when Modi had gone to Australia, he was still on the path to becoming global leader, but now that he has returned from Australia, he has become the global leader and this statement proves it.

 After returning from Australia, PM Modi re tweeted a tweet of ABP anchor Rubika Liyaquat. Do you think this move of PM boosts a journalist’s morale?

Rubika Liyaquat is a top anchor of ABP. I mention her name because perhaps she was the only anchor that time who was awake at 3 AM when PM Modi returned from Australia. Had I been a journalist perhaps I may have thought who would wake up at 3 AM for PM’s arrival and

Dr Jagdeesh Chandra - CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Bharat24-Vision of New India and First India & CMD, First India News, reflecting on the nine years of Modi government, stresses that the Indian Prime Minister is now, without a doubt, a global leader. Dr Chandra cites examples of Papua New Guinea PM touching Modi’s feet, Australian PM calling him ‘Boss’ and US President seeking Modi’s autograph as developments pointing in this direction. He also stresses that for Modi, ‘Democracy’ is his motivation and ‘Constitution’ his resolution. Excerpts... (Part-II)

would have postponed any news or development for the next day. Later, I spoke with Rubika and asked her how did she come to this decision to go for PM’s arrival and she said that her editor Sant Prasad should be commended for it as he was the one, who said that she should go and so she went and see how a person’s luck changes over night.

Luck in journalism means if PM re tweets your tweet then a journalist’s happiness knows no bounds. In that crowd at the airport, she came across Nurshid Ali who told her that he had been waiting for a glimpse of PM Modi for nine years and he termed himself to be ‘ Modi Bhakt’ Nurshid Ali. I told you about the new voter constituency, this is one of that persons and that constituency is not only in Hindus, but it is across the religious lines, so Rubika must have tweeted this and PM’s monitoring system is immaculate and in fact, I would say it is better than the American system. One Hiren Joshi works in PM office, who must have seen this and must have told PM and as a pat on the back, PM must have

asked to re tweet Rubika’s tweet and on top of that, he said that it was the love and trust of crores of people that motivates him to work continuously. So the story is complete.

So, the entire media got this message & in quarters that used to claim that media keeps its distance from Modi they too came to know.

 PM Narendra Modi will be on tour of America after his tour of Australia. Will USA also give him the same grand and warm welcome as accorded by Australia?

Definitely. They have done so already. In the past, when he had visited Manhattan, about 50,000 people had reached to see Modi and now it has been so long, Modi has definitely become grander. Today even the

President of USA has asked for Modi’s autograph, so it is certain that he will be accorded a grand welcome. And perhaps this is the first time that Modi has been declared as ‘State Guest’ of America, I am not certain, but someone said so recently. And even if it is not the first time, then too, this is a huge thing that this is the same America which had declined visa to Modi and look at how the tables have turned through sheer luck and a person’s hard work that a nation will roll out the red carpet to welcome him. He will be there from June 21 onwards and he will take part in International Yoga Day celebrations at UN and then he has other engagements and it is certain that Indianorigin Americans will

rush to see him. Modi’s visit will be like Diwali. He has something in him which attracts people to him. When he was CM of Gujarat, I used to meet him. Once we were together and he narrated an incident. He said that three individuals from Gujarat had met him the very day and they had returned from Singapore. During their visit, the locals in Singapore must have asked which place they were from & the three men said they were from Gujarat and the local asked if they knew Modi. At that time, I used to wonder if this was even a reality and it actually happened. He became PM and now all this is happening right in front of our eyes. So in a way, you can say that Modi is going to conquer America.

 How successful, according to you, has ‘Mann Ki Baat’ been?

It is indeed successful and it was his idea that he should have a direct dialogue with people & there should be no one in between, & that even masses should get a chance to put across their ideas & issues. Thus, a two way communication. Secondly,

it was in his mind that those talented individuals who are not in the limelight, hailing from various sectors, he wanted to interact with them and bring them forward in the main stream. So, the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a success. Modi’s marketing is such that even the best advertising agency of the world may also not be able to compete. Crores of people watch it or hear it regularly and the radio, which had lost its existence has been re-introduced.

 How do you see the entire development around the new Parliament which was recently dedicated to the public?

Modi’s life is full of events, happenings and thrill. Journalists may get tired writing about it, we may get tired holding such talks, but Modi will never tire out. Such a huge programme was organised. When the old Parliament was constructed, it took six years to complete it, from 1921 to 1927 or thereabouts.

And this Parliament has been constructed in merely 29 months.

He may have thought that the old Parliament building was a mark of colonial past of India

and that we should construct out own Parliament. Even leave that aside. Just consider that the Parliament was of 18th century and now with change in time, we need to construct a new Parliament of 21st century. And look at it, in just 29 months he got it done and technically the credit goes to Om Birla as he got the work done. Just imagine how elated he must have been and what a moment it would have been in his life and he even said that this new Parliament is sign of the dreams of 140 crore Indians. In fact, Modi wrote an article in Indian Express that this new building will further strengthen and empower the Indian democracy, which is the largest democracy of the world. One newspaper carried the headline which stated that this was a signature on time itself. Modi ji even went on to say that ‘Democracy’ is his motivation & ‘Constitution’ his resolution. It was a wonderful development and he must have been extremely happy.

Fashion is an ever-evolving form of self-expression, continuously pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers. In recent years, a captivating trend known as “trippy fashion” has emerged, offering a vibrant and surreal aesthetic that captivates the imagination. Blending psychedelic patterns, vibrant colours and mind-bending designs, this fashion movement invites individuals to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery.

At the heart of trippy fashion lies an array of mind-bending prints and patterns. Kaleidoscopic swirls, hypnotic tiedye and intricate fractal designs take centre stage, evoking a sense of otherworldliness and transcendent beauty. These prints often play with optical illusions, creating a sense of depth and movement that mesmerizes the eye. Whether on flowing maxi dresses, tailored suits, or streetwear-inspired tshirts, psychedelic prints infuse garments with an explosion of colour and energy.

Trippy fashion revels in a vivid and striking colour palette. Electric blues, neon pinks, acid yellows and fluorescent greens collide, creating a visually stunning amalgamation that challenges the boundaries of traditional colour schemes. The combination of these vibrant hues generates an energetic and uplifting aura, encouraging wearers to embrace their inner creativity and exude a sense of fearlessness.

Trippy fashion thrives on experimentation and eclecticism, encouraging individuals to embrace their own unique style. Mixing and matching different patterns, textures, and silhouettes is at the heart of this trend, allowing wearers to create head-turning ensembles that reflect their personalities and individuality. From pairing tie-dye leggings with a sequined jacket to combining psychedelic prints with edgy accessories, the possibilities for creative expression are endless.

Trippy fashion extends beyond clothing, offering a range of mind-altering accessories to complete the transformative look. Chunky platform shoes with neon accents, holographic sunglasses, and oversized hats adorned with swirling patterns are just a few examples of accessories that contribute to the trippy aesthetic. These accessories not only enhance the overall visual impact but also serve as conversation starters, inviting others to explore the wearer’s unique perspective.

The days are long, but the years are short. This is one adage that summarises parenthood quite simply! I am not here to debate, nor do I think there is anything wrong with mothers being primary caregivers in a child’s life. In fact, motherhood is a beautiful and fulfilling experience. The problem arises when we fail to recognise that behind the facade of beauty comes a fair share of challenges and responsibilities.

So while the dads come back from the office, kick off their shoes and relax – where does the mom go to get her downtime? In my experience, it is mostly the bathroom, where mums lock themselves up to ‘relive’ themselves! Pun intended! But funny as it may sound, amidst the joy and chaos, it is essential for mothers to prioritize their mental wellness through self-care, well beyond the extra-long bathroom breaks.

Taking care of one's mental health not only benefits the mother but also positively impacts her children and family. The importance of self-care for mothers cannot be overstated. Call it societal pressure, generational trauma, or the impact of social media –the end result is that motherhood often involves putting the needs of children and family before one's own. However, neglecting self-care can lead to emotional exhaustion, burnout, and a decline in mental well-being. It is crucial for mothers to recognize that their mental health matters and that self-care is not selfish but necessary for their overall wellbeing. When mothers prioritize self-care, they are better equipped to handle the daily challenges of parenting and are more emotionally available for their children. There are practical self-care strategies that I would like to share, and implore you to implement in your life on priority:

ESTABLISHING BOUNDARIES

Setting boundaries helps mothers maintain a balance between their personal needs and the demands of motherhood. This includes learning to say no, delegating tasks, and carving out personal time. You cannot do it all. So if the child gets some ex-

Allocating regular time for activities that bring joy and relaxation is vital. Whether it’s reading a book, going to Zumba classes with friends, engaging in a hobby, or simply taking a walk in the park - dedicating time for oneself allows mothers to recharge and rejuvenate. During the ongoing vacations, I just put my daughter in a Summer Camp much against her wishes, and took the 2 hours she was gone to have my own mini vacations!

NURTURING SOCIAL CONNECTIONS

Building a support network is crucial for maternal mental well-being. Connecting with other mothers, joining support groups, or seeking therapy provides an outlet for sharing experiences, seeking guidance, and fostering social connections that combat isolation and loneliness. With growing nuclear family setups, don’t shut yourself off. Join communities, initiate play dates or pick up the phone and call a friend!

PRIORITIZING SLEEP AND REST

Adequate sleep is essential for mental and physical health. My dark circles are a testament to this. Mothers should strive to establish healthy sleep routines, take short breaks when needed, and seek support from partners, family members, or friends to ensure they get sufficient rest. I could not manage this for the longest time, till I put my foot down and sent my husband and dog out of my sleep equation. I now wake up better rested and happier.

SEEKING PROFESSIONAL HELP

It's important for mothers to recognize when they need professional support. If feelings of anxiety, depression, or overwhelm persist, seeking therapy or counselling can be immensely helpful in managing mental health challenges. I am the first to admit this. Therapy has helped me calm my frayed nerves and realise that my child is just being a child, and I am the one who needs to work on myself and remain a calm happy create a nurturing environment, and model healthy coping mecha-

want my daughter to see a mother who takes care of herself physically and emotionally because that's what she will do for herself when she is an adult.

Let us empower ourselves to embrace self-care as an essential part of our journey. A mentally healthy mother is the foundation for a thriving family. Because life should be about thriving not just surviving!
