ASSEMBLY BYPOLL RESULTS ON 7 SEATS IN 6 STATES

New Delhi: The 7 Assembly constituencies that had gone to polls on November 3, their results were announced on Sunday. The bypoll in Adampur was necessitated after former sitting MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi resigned from the Vidhan Sabha in August to switch from Cong to BJP. Andheri East contest was held due to the untimely death of Sena MLA Ramesh Latke. Mokama seat, in Bihar, fell vacant after Anant Singh, was dismissed due to a conviction in a criminal case. The contest in Gopalganj, also in Bihar, was necessitated due to the death of sitting BJP MLA Subhash Singh. Munugode witnessed a bypoll after sitting MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy resigned on August 2. The bypoll was necessitated in Gola Gokarannath seat of Lakhimpur following death of Arvind Giri, while Dhamnagar seat fell vacant due to demise of Bishnu Das.

Mumbai (PTI): The Maharashtra government will work on planning a film city between Mumbai and Thane cities to provide a wider platform to artists, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday. Speaking at an event where noted Marathi theatre actor Prashant Damle was felicitated for the 12,500th show of his play ‘Eka Lagnachi Gosht’, Shinde said the state government will support Marathi theatre and cinema. “There is a lot of shooting happening in Thane too,” he said, adding that a film city will be planned between Mumbai and Thane, separated by 23 km. He also said a nodal officer would be appointed to review and inspect the condition of drama auditoriums and take necessary steps to improve them.
