Pradhan Sevak’s Impeccable 9 yrs of Service

— PART 43

Long Term Vision

PM Modi is futuristic. If he speaks about Amrit Kaal, he talks about it from a perspective that covers the coming century. If he talks about an India that is developed, he also refers to the illustrious and noble past of our country that has made our country what it is!

Atmanirbhar Bharat

The Honourable PM has been pretty clear about the whole thought process behind Atmanirbhar Bharat and what he wants it to look like. He wants Indian products for the Indian forces. On the 15th of August, there is this iconic 21-gun salute. All these years it was being done by the British-made 25 pounder gun. This time, he said “No, we have to have an Indian gun to make them to do it!” And we did that. He made it happen.

Ease of Living

3

I happened to meet a homemaker in Patna, named Prabha. I got into a conversation with her and asked her “So whom are you going to vote for in the upcoming elections?” She replied “I will vote for Modiji!” I asked her again “Why are you going to vote for Modiji?” Prabha said “Didi, my ancestors, my grandparents, parents all are dead and gone and they died in darkness. Today, I have light in my house. I have electricity. Not just this,

Modiji has also given us the gas connection. Like my grandmother and mother, I don’t have to choke cooking on the chulha either. This is why I will vote for Modiji!”

National Security

4

We carried out surgical strikes, not once but on a number of occasions. In the East, we did it on the IndoMyanmar border, we did in Pakistan on both land and in air, so while the capability to carry out these actions always existed with us, we were not getting the political go-ahead, the green signal to actually do something like that. So what has changed now is that the will is there to demonstrate to the world and to our neighbours that

not only do we have the capability, we have the will to execute and translate that capability into action.

Against Freebies

Once I had been appointed Chairperson of Finance Commission and we were in the middle of a conversation. A question cropped up and it was regarding freebies. Of late freebies has been a hot topic of discussion. He believes in fiscal laxity and is steadfast on fiscal rectitude.

If today our macro-economic stability is strong with low current account deficits, large fund investments coming in, feisty deficits and debt in spite of the pandemic,

Digital India

We said to Modiji that as part of Digital India initiative, we will club a few projects. He said “No, not at all. All this won’t work. Think about how we wish to create a Digital India without taking money into consideration.” He wanted us to create a digitally powered, knowledge society and this is what we call high thinking.

Prime Minister Modi. If bureaucrats are honest, no one can bribe them. He made this the principle of his governance as soon as he took over.

Against VIP Culture

it is because of his vision. Modiji never allowed public exchequer to be used in a manner where debt would become unserviceable.

Thrust on Infrastructure

His thoughts about infra are exceedingly transformative, especially when you consider the strategy of retrofitting that he introduced into the vision for smart city planning. This has brought in practicality and the point to remember is that, cities don’t become good cities only through building of roads. Modiji told all of us that what we also need are clean toilets and robust management of solid and liquid waste. Today most cities are performing exceedingly well under

and making a marked contribution in the management of solid and liquid waste. All these works are because of Modiji’s vision.

Hours after Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur called the wrestlers for a meeting, the Congress on Wednesday took swipe at the BJP government for remaining silent on the harassment of the players, and said that the grand old party “will stand with the daughters till the time justice is not delivered”.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda, when asked about the Union Sports Minister calling wrestlers for a meeting, said, “Congress will support the daughters till justice is not delivered to them. It is unfortunate that the government is treating the daughters with step motherly treatment as the wrestlers have to knock on the Supreme Court doors for registering an FIR.”

Hooda said that it’s been one and half months

and the government and the Delhi Police have not made any arrest.

Asked about the government’s call for talks, Congress spokesperson Deepender Hooda said, “Today the Sports Minister (Anurag Thakur) has invited our wrestlers for a talk. We will wait to see what is the outcome of these talks but one thing is very clear as far as the Congress party is concerned, we stand with our daughters in their fight for justice and we are going to be with them till they get justice.” The Congress will stand by the wrestlers in whatever they decide after the talks, Hooda said.

“Isn’t it the first case where the accused have not been arrested. In such an FIR with serious charges, it is the first example that no arrest has been done as one BJP MP is named as an accused. What kind of example the government is setting. What kind of standard they are laying?”

Steve Smith is best Test player of this generation: Virat Kohli

London (UK)

India's star batter Virat Kohli praised Australian batter Steve Smith, naming him the "best Test player" of this generation.

Australian batters Steve Smith and Travis Head dominated the Indian bowlers for the better part of the second session of the World Test Championship 2023 final at the Oval in London on Wednesday.

At Tea, Australia reached a healthy 170/3 with Travis Head and Steve Smith standing on the crease with scores of 60(75)* and 33(102)* respectively. India began the second session in a similar way as they did the first, with speedster Mohammad Shami sending back Marnus Labuschagne for 26(62).

Before the start of the WTC final against Australia, Virat Kohli featured in a video where he lauded Smith. "Steve Smith, according to me, is the best Test player of this generation. He has displayed that his adaptability is absolutely brilliant. You take any cricketer of this generation... in 85-90

Tests, he has an average of 60 which is quite unbelievable. The consistency and impact with which he scores runs, I haven't seen anyone else doing that in last 10 years. Definitely, Steve Smith, along with Marnus Labuschagne, are their main players in the batting order because they control their batting lineup," Virat told media. "Smith has always done well against us and he has performed in England. You want to dismiss him as soon as possible because he can have a match-winning impact," Kohli added.

Raising Awareness

& Hope for a Cure

City First aims to shed light on World Brain Tumor Day, its significance, and the importance of spreading awareness about brain tumours worldwide...

Every year, World Brain Tumor Day is observed on the 8 June to raise awareness about brain tumours and their impact on individuals and their families and to promote support for those affected by this condition. Brain tumours are a complex and often life-altering medical condition that requires increased attention, research and community support.

A brain tumour refers to an abnormal growth of cells within the brain or the surrounding tissues. While not all brain tumours are cancerous (malignant), they can still cause significant health issues and require medical attention.

Brain tumours can occur in individuals of all ages, including children and adults, and they can manifest in various forms, such as gliomas, meningiomas, pituitary adenomas, and medulloblastomas, among others.

Brain tumours can have a profound impact on individuals and their families, affecting their physical, emotional, and social well-

being. Symptoms of brain tumours vary depending on the tumour's location, size and rate of growth. Common symptoms include persistent headaches, seizures, cognitive difficulties, personality changes, balance problems, and sensory impairments. These symptoms can significantly affect the individual's quality of life, limit their independence, and create emotional distress for both the patient and their loved ones.

World Brain Tumor Day serves as a crucial platform to raise awareness about brain tumours and their impact on individuals and communities. It provides an opportunity to educate the public, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the media about the importance of early detection, diagnosis, and effective treatment options. By promoting awareness, we can ensure that individuals experiencing symptoms seek medical attention promptly, leading to earlier intervention and improved outcomes.

Another crucial aspect of World Brain Tumor Day is to emphasize the importance of support for brain

tumour patients and their families. The journey of battling a brain tumour can be physically and emotionally challenging, often requiring a multidisciplinary approach involving neurosurgeons, oncologists, radiation therapists and other healthcare professionals. It is essential to provide a strong support system for patients, offering not only medical care but also emotional support, access to resources and opportunities for peer connections. Support groups, online communities, and non-profit organizations play a vital role in helping

patients and families navigate their journey and find comfort in knowing they are not alone.

World Brain Tumor Day also aims to generate support and funding for ongoing research to advance the understanding, treatment and prevention of brain tumours. Researchers and scientists continuously strive to improve diagnostic techniques, develop more effective treatments and search for potential cures. Increased funding and public awareness can accelerate these efforts, leading to better outcomes and

improved quality of life for those affected by brain tumours.

As individuals, there are several ways we can contribute to raising awareness and supporting brain tumour patients and their families.

Here are a few suggestions:

 Educate Yourself: Learn more about brain tumours, their symptoms, and available treatment options. This knowledge will enable you to recognize warning signs and support those who may be affected.

 Spread Awareness: Share information about World Brain

Tumor Day on social media platforms, organize local events, or participate in existing awareness campaigns. Every effort to raise awareness counts.

 Support Charitable Organizations: Contribute to organizations that focus on brain tumour research, patient support, and advocacy. Your donations can make a difference in the lives of those affected.

 Volunteer: Offer your time and expertise to local hospitals, clinics, or support groups dedicated to brain.
