The master plan for the temple town of Ayodhya that will govern its development for the next decade has been approved by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The master plan aims at improving the living standards of about 12 lakh people who will occupy an

area of 133.67 square kilometres.

The master plan 2031 was presented by the housing and urban planning department to the chief minister after disposing of 1,084 objections that were raised by the citizens.

The department also had to finalise the facade control guidelines and a common

building code.

Vacancies in HCs: Parl panel expresses its displeasure

New Delhi (PTI): Amid a standoff between the govt and the Supreme Court Collegium over the appointment of judges, a parliamentary panel has asked the Executive and the Judiciary to come up with “out of box thinking” to deal with the “perennial problem” of vacancies in high courts.

The department-related standing committee on Law and Personnel in its report tabled in Parliament on Thursday said it is not in agreement with the comments of the Department of Justice in the Union Law Ministry that “time for filling up of vacancies of judges in the higher judiciary cannot be indicated”.

The timeline has been drawn in the Second Judges Case and also in

the Memorandum of Procedure (MOP) regarding the appointment of judges, it pointed out.

“But regrettably, those timelines are not adhere to by both, the Judiciary and the Executive, which is leading to delay in filling up of the vacancies,” it lamented.

On Nov 25, govt asked the Supreme Court Collegium to reconsider 20 files related to appointment of high court judges. The govt had expressed “strong reservations” about the recommended names. Out of the 20 cases, 11 were fresh cases and nine were reiterations made by the collegium.

The committee also said that it is “surprised” to note that the Supreme Court and the government have failed to reach at a consensus on revision of the MOP for the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court and the high courts, though the same is under consideration of both for “about seven years now”.

Kakinada: The KakinadaUppada road has been closed for the entry of tourists by the Kakiknada police. It was reported that the road had been completely destroyed due to strong winds and waves triggered by cyclone Mandous on the Uppada coast in the Kakinada district.

After inspection, the police said, “The storm had not subsided and the beach road from Kakinada to Uppada is wholly destroyed. The vehicles going from Kakinada to Uppada were diverted towards Acchampeta and the vehicles from Uppada to Kakinada were diverted via Pithapuram.”

Facing shortage of judges, HC likely to get nine more taking the number to 35

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court is currently facing a shortage of judges. At present, only 26 judges are working on the 50 sanctioned posts of judges in the High Court.

Justice Manoj Kumar Vyas retired in February, 2022. Chief Justice Akil Kureshi retired in March, Justice Devendra Kachhawa in July, Chief Justice SS Shinde in August, Justice Rameshwar Vyas retired in Sep & Justice Prakash Gupta in Nov.

In this year, 6 judges have retired from HC and this year only two judges Justice Shubha Mehta and Justice Kul-

Justice Shubha Mehta has become judge from judicial quota, Justice Kuldeep Mathur from advocate quota. After the appointment of Justice Shubha Mehta and Justice Kuldeep Mathur in June, no name

has been approved by Centre yet. Now HC is likely to get 9 judges soon with which number of judges in HC will rise to 35.

There will also be a possibility of rapid decline in pendency of the High Court. 26 judges, including Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal, are working in HC.

Udaipur: Two youths on a speeding bike were killed on the UdaipurBanswara Mega Highway in Udaipur district while trying to overtake a truck. The two youth, uncle and nephew by relation were going towards their home in Dhol ki Pati area near Dakan Kotda toll plaza. While trying to overtake a truck, the bike lost balance and collided with a Bolero coming from the opposite direction.

Barmer: A tractor driver was charred to death in Balotra town of Barmer district on Sunday after the tractor collided head-on with a trailer. Police informed the deceased has been identified as Dalaram Prajapat alias Hemaram, a resident of Rabariyon Ka Taka in Balotra town. “The incident occurred on Sunday evening on Pachpadra-Balotra Bypass when a trailer filled with tiles collided head-on with a tractor filled with sacks of cement. The country’s first dog talk show titled ‘If Dog Could Talk’ was organised at Swai Jai Singh Highway, Bani Park, Jaipur on Sunday. The talk commenced for the dog lovers, where they discussed many issues related to stray and pet dogs.

Jagdeesh Chandra and Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava graced the occasion as key speakers during the talk show.

RJ Karthik, Palak Nandi- Bureau Chief of Times of India, Sachin Saini-Bureau Chief of Hindustan Times, Lokendra Kachhawa - Senior High Court Advocate and Suresh ChoudharyCongress spokesperson were also present. The

host and moderator of the talk show were Viren Sharma, the founder and secretary of the NGO Pause working for dogs.

During the talk, Jagdish Chandra said that a platform should be

created to solve all the issues related to dogs, in which all their problems would be solved. He appreciated the work done by NGO Pause.
