Mumbai (PTI): The rupee declined by 35 paise to close at 79.52 against the US currency on Wednesday as higher-than-expected US CPI print resulted in risk-off sentiment among investors. Foreign fund outflows and losses in the domestic equity markets also hit the rupee sentiment, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the domestic currency opened at 79.58 per dollar. It hovered in a range of 79.38 to 79.60 during the session. The domestic unit fi nally settled at 79.52, down 35 paise over its previous close of 79.17, ending its four-session gaining streak during which it rose by 78 paise. The dollar bided well after the rate market started pricing a full percent age point hike in the next week’s FOMC meeting.

New Delhi: Electric two and three-wheeler sales in India are expected to grow at a fast clip and account for 50 and 70%, respectively of the total sales by 2030, a report jointly prepared by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and McKinsey. It said that in India, the total cost of ownership is likely to be more attractive for electric two and three-wheelers, than for pas senger or heavy commercial vehicles. The report noted that “sales of new electric two and three-wheelers could grow to 50 and 70 per cent, respectively by 2030,” it said.

New Delhi: Tata Power on Wednesday said that it has inked a pact to develop a 4-MWp solar project at Tata Motors’ Pune plant. “Tata Motors and Tata Power have entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to develop a 4-MWp on-site solar project at Tata Motors’ Pune commercial vehicle manufacturing facility,” a BSE filing said. The installation is collectively expected to generate 5.8 million units of electricity, potentially mitigating over 10 lakh tonnes of carbon emission.
