An agile, people-first talent management strategy enables people to be at their best selves, and ensures availability of the talent and skills industry needs to address current envi ronmental challenges. Increas ingly, talent management is a big differentiator in a competi tive global economy. Today the focus is on: “internal fit”, aligned with “cultural fit” and the two are linked to the busi ness strategy and long-term goals of the organization i.e., “strategic fit”. Getting the right people in pivotal roles at the right time should be noth ing new to HR professionals, but done effectively, talent management can create long term organizational success..

from its party leaders and workers.TheBJP has been trying to finish off Congress in Goa. In 2019 it engineered defections by 10 of 15 elected members of Congress to decimate the party. The message to Con gress is that any candidate winning on its ticket will be won over by the BJP using all possible means. The BJP firmly denied any role in the present defections but the Congress is of the view that BJP is playing the pied piper. The eight Congress legisla tors cited Ghulam Nabi Azad’s stinging letter to Sonia Gandhi as reason for their leaving a dying party. Con gress chhodo, BJP jodo seems to have been their catchword. In the meantime Rahul Gan dhi can keep walking.

Training, online learning, and other tools enable work ers to reach their full poten tial, expand their skills and capabilities, Learning includ ing virtual learning and tal ent mobility is especially critical for companies that close the skills gap in their organizations through reskill ing or up skilling.

Organizations are going through a transformation, particularly in the area of digital skills that are essential to become more agile. By as sessing the skills of the work force today, and the projected skills and capabilities needed in the future, companies can better plan for and prepare a workforce that fills the gaps and positions needed by the company to take full advan tage of all opportunities.

A poor candidate experi ence hampers talent acquisi tion and results in wastage of resources. Create a user friendly career site that is regularly updated with jobs, clear job descriptions, and cre ate a well-defined application flow and a continuous commu nication plan to keep all stake holders well informed.

Talent management is the full scope of Human Resource (HR) processes to attract, on board, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing em ployees. Digital disruptions and a shifting workforce is changing talent management, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. There has been a shift to remote work, and less focus on where talent is lo cated and more on that is the best fit for a certain job. What the pandemic hasn’t changed is that employees, wherever they work, want to feel con nected and engaged.

People are the heart of a company, without the right talent, companies risk poor culture and low customer sat isfaction. Employers today face a more complex talent management landscape than ever before, and those that manage talent well will have a competitive edge over those who do not. Nowadays it has become rather trendy for Students to write their books and have them published. Be it for the sake of adding that accomplishment to their CVs or to indulge their genuine literary leanings; it is a healthy movement. Having said that, I find a vast majority of these endeavours a touch underwhelming. It isn’t for lack of trying or for any fault of the student per se. They just ought to be better prepared. By that, I mean taking a short course in fiction writing would do these young aspiring writers a world of good, and they will be able to approach and manifest their ideas in an infinitely more structured, professional and engaging manner.  The world of fiction is a fascinating journey that is an amalgam of fact & creativity. I hope more people embark on it and tell their stories!
