PUNJAB POLICE SCUTTLE SEPARATISTS’ PLAN TO FOMENT TROUBLE IN STATE

The Punjab Police have acted in time to cut radical Sikh Amritpal Singh’s any possible plans to revive the pro-Khalistan movement in Punjab. The police had come in for scathing criticism for buckling to protests from Amritpal and releasing his close aide in February. Supporters accompanying Amritpal attacked the police with swords and injured many of them. It was a meek surrender by the police that shocked the state and sent waves of concern as the memory of Operation Blue Star was revived. With today’s meticulously planned action, the state police have redeemed its honour.

Tankha, who blamed the “troll army presumably sympathetic to the ruling party in Maharashtra”, demanded exemplary legal action against the troll army. Whether trolls are good for democracy and should be allowed to carry on shooting barbs with impunity at the high and mighty, or should one learn to live with them? One thing is certain they cannot be stopped from being nasty.

Amritpal’s arrest hopefully will stop the separatist movement from taking root in Punjab afresh. The action should also send a strong message to the Khalistan protagonists sitting in Pakistan, Canada, UK and Australia.
