Mumbai BJP chief buoyant on BJP-Shinde combine’s chances in overdue civic polls

Mumbai: The ruling alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena will win more than 150 seats in the upcoming elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar said on Wednesday, echoing Union minister Amit Shah’s “Mission 150 seats” message.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has 227 seats in the House. It is currently under an administrator as the five-year term of its elected representatives ended in March last year.

BJP and the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will win more than 150 seats in the upcoming BMC elections, Shelar said, adding that the next Mumbai mayor will be from the BJP.

“The BJP along with our alliance partner CM Eknath Shinde will win more than 150 seats. The mayor of the new civic body will be from the BJP,” said Shelar.
