Congress cancels Bharat Jodo Yatra amid landslides in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir (ANI): Due to poor weather conditions and landslides, the afternoon leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ramban and Banihal has been cancelled, informed Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday.

SUPREME COURT POSTPONES JOURNALIST RANA AYYUB’S APPEAL IN LAUNDERING CASE

New Delhi: The SC on Wednesday asked a special court in Ghaziabad, which has summoned journalist Rana Ayyub in a money laundering case lodged by the ED, to adjourn the proceedings scheduled for January 27 to a date after January 31. The top court said it will hear on January 31 the petition of Rana Ayyub challenging the summons issued to her by the special court. A bench of Justices Krishna Murari and V Ramasubramanian was informed by advocate Vrinda Grover, appearing for Rana Ayyub, that the petitioner has been summoned by the Ghaziabad court on Jan 27.

Hc Stays Trial Court Proceedings Against Mp Verma

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday stayed the Trial Court proceedings against Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma in a defamation case filed by Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Sisodia had filed a case against several BJP leaders in 2019 for alleging corruption in the construction of classrooms in Delhi’s government schools in a press conference.

AIR INDIA PEE-GATE: SHANKAR MISHRA FILES BAIL PLEA

Kolkata: Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating on a woman on board an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi, on Wednesday moved a bail plea in Sessions Court of Delhi’s Patiala House Court. The District and Sessions Judge will hear the bail plea on Jan 27. Recently Mishra’s bail plea was dismissed by the Magistrate court. He was arrested by the police on Jan 6 and is presently in judicial custody.

The yatra will resume Friday morning while thursday will be a rest day, he said. Taking to Twitter, Jairam Ramesh said, “Due to poor weather conditions and landslides in the area, the afternoon leg of #BharatJodoYatra in Ramban and Banihal has been cancelled. Tomorrow is a rest day and the Yatra will resume the day after, January 27th at 8 am.”

OF TWO SONS OF TWO CMS’ IN REPLY TO ANTONY’S EXIT

New Delhi: In the first reaction to Anil Antony’s resignation from the party, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said Anil is reveling in his day in the sun having ignored his duties to the party and the Bharat Jodo Yatra. In his dig, however, Jairam Ramesh did not mention his name. Neither did he mention the name of Chandy Oommen, whom he praised in his tale of two sons of two CMs from the same state.

New Delhi: Reacting to the resignation of former Union minister AK Antony’s son Anil K Antony from the Congress, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday said the grand old party should first think of “Congress Jodo”, instead of Bharat Jodo Yatra. Taking note of Anil Antony’s resignation from the Congress party, Poonawalla said that nothing has changed in the party since his exit.
