PM MOOTS IDEA OF “ONE NATION, ONE UNIFORM” FOR POLICE

P M Modi said the identity of the police force across the country should be identical. Address ing the Chintan Shivi, he floated the idea of ‘one nation, one uniform’ for police’. Modi said he wasn’t forcing the idea on any state but the ministers must give it a thought. He thought this could happen over a long time. Elaborating on his idea, he said this would help manufactur ers to make a quality product due to the large scale involved and it would also give the law enforcement personnel a common identity so that they can be identified in all states.

It is clear that Shinde and Fadnavis are traitors who are promoting the inter ests of Gujarat. Maharashtra has the largest industry in the country. Prime Minister Modi worries that Gujarat is behind Maharashtra. That is why ever since he became the Prime Minister, he has planned to shift important projects and institutions in Maharashtra to Gujarat.

The agreement to build Tata Airbus cargo plane in Vadodara, Gujarat, was inked on September 21, 2021. At that time, there was no Shinde-Fadnavis govern ment in the state; the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA govern ment was at helm. The Maha Vikar Aghadi government did nothing to bring this project to Maharashtra.

Despite so much development, the then MVA govt did not send a single letter to the Centre. That govt did not even follow up the issue with the Union govt. MVA leaders should avoid diverting attention despite being aware of the facts. I chal lenge them to release a letter they had addressed to Tata-Airbus in the past.

Henry Ford, who was the owner of the world famous Ford Company, had a different vision and way of working from that of other promoters. His lessons were special for all the employees. He sometimes used to interact directly with the employees and said, “Life is the Ocean of Experiences!”

BHAVESH

The word accountability is giv en least importance in India. Employees work hard at their work place but they don’t care how much contribution their hard work is adding to their organization profit. The con cern of “profit” merely re mains till the promoters and the finance department. The marketing and manufacturing department primarily con tribute to business and prod uct generation. While other departments of any organiza tion identify themselves as a support function, which is not correct. Be it be HR Depart ment, supply chain depart ment or the marketing depart ment, each department and its head must act as profit-centric head for their organization.

What should be the role of the head of the department and how they can work as profit centric head, let’s take a look. It is usually the head of the Department who has to look up to the administrative affairs of his department.

Generally, what a head of de partment does is that he mon itors his department and em ployees working under him perform better than other departments of the company.

Often, it is also possible that the head of the department is superior to all of his employ ees just to show to the man

GM MUSTARD SOLUTION FOR SHORTAGE OF EDIBLE OIL

agement, to resort to internal constraints and policies and to compete with others. A healthy competition between the two departments offers good productivity in the com pany, but in the competition to prove themselves superior an atmosphere of internal clashes and stress is created.

When we say that the head of the department should act as the profit center head, the meaning of the concept is to change the whole mindset and perspective of the department towards the company. The day when the departmental heads start working considering the point of view of the top man agements and focus on how their departments can con tribute to the company’s di rect growth, they can be called the best departmental head. The head of the department should work with the employ ees of their department in such a way that each and eve ry employee of the depart ment can share their contri bution and show involvement in the company’s growth.

LET’S CONSIDER AN EXAMPLE

Henry Ford, who was the own er of the world famous Ford Company, had a different vi sion and way of working from that of other promoters. He used to hold regular meetings with all the heads of depart ments, his lessons were special for all the employees. He also sometimes used to interact di rectly with the employees and said, “Life is the Ocean of Ex periences!” every experience teach and inspire us to do

The day when the departmental heads start working considering the point of view of the top managements and focus on how their departments can contribute to the company’s direct growth, they can be called the best departmental head. They should work with employees in such a way that the staff is involved in firm’s growth

something new. He also used to say to his employees, do what ever you want to do it with your heart and full dedication. By doing things with heart special contributions can be made to the organization.

Henry always advised his departmental heads that if they are able to give long-term and positive vision to the em ployees and show them how they can contribute and be a partner in company’s growth then you are an excellent lead er. The easiest way to achieve this is to create a sense of ownership spirit in every em ployee. Every work profile should be respected and every work should be done from heart will full dedication. And the person who works with proper dedication will be come a partner in the com pany’s growth in true senses.

The heads of each depart ment should recognize the

strengths of their employees and distribute the work ac cordingly. Henry always ad vised employees saying, “Di vide your wok into small targets, this will make easy for you to reach the goal. This will help you achieve big tar gets.” If you take a look away from your goal then it means that you have lost control to reach your goal and you need to focus. The most difficult and effortful work is to make every employee of your team to work in team. If this is an easy task for you then you come out as a good leader but if you are weak leader then employees will not associate themselves with your vision.

The conclusion of the dis cussion comes out to be that the head of the department should make every employee of his team participate in the company’s work keeping in mind their vision and goals.

Some tips.

z The head of each department should check their employ ees to work in a team.

z The head of the department should work together with other heads and participate equally in the company’s growth.

z The head of the department should check how each em ployee can participate in the company’s growth and distrib ute the work accordingly.

z It is the responsibility of the departmental head to see that every employee looks after their work and works towards progress.

India’s first geneti cally modified (GM) mustard has been ap proved for seed pro duction before it is approved as the country’s first indigenous hybrid mustard and released for commercial purpos es. This will be a major step to wards increasing the production of oilseeds for which the country is heavily import- dependent. Against an annual production of around 8.5 million tonnes of ed ible oil, India imports around 14.5 mt of edible oil to meet its domestic demand of edible oil.

Genetically modified crops have met stiff resistance from farmers and environmentalists. The first to be opposed tooth and nail was Bt cotton despite sui cides by cotton growers due to crop losses. Once introduced in 2002 the insect and pest resistant crop has benefited farmers by cutting expenditure on insecti cides and increased production.

As controversial as Bt cotton was Bt brinjal the commercial re lease of which was foiled by envi ronmentalists. The GM mustard may also require government clearance for commercial release. Environmentalists must un derstand that transgenic crops offer hope.

Similarly, the bulk drug park project, esti mated to be worth around Rs3,000 crore and with the potential to cre ate around 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, in Roha and Murud tehsils in coastal Raigad district was also “rolled back”.

Those familiar with the development say Kharge wants to ensure cohesion within the group well in time for the civic body polls which are already overdue, and also for the Assembly elections to be held in a little over 2.5 years. The root of the matter is that detractors feel that Mum Cong chief Bhai Jagtap and working president Charan Singh Sapra are not field tested. Jagtap has only won one Assembly election, and Sapra is yet to make even one notch on his meta phorical belt. This has led to questions from sev eral local leaders--includ ing Nirupam, former minister Chandrakant Handore, and Varsha Gaikwad--on Jagtap and Sapra’s ability to lead the party to a win in the com ing days.

“That is why mutual cooperation between state agencies and be tween central and state agencies is becoming crucial,” Modi said.

High inflation is a result of price shocks: Bhide

New Delhi (PTI): The high inflation rate in the last three quarters is main ly a consequence of the ‘exogenous’ price shocks, and addressing the issue will require coordinated policy efforts, RBI Mone tary Policy Committee (MPC) member Shashanka Bhide has said.

Bhide further said the inflationary pressures are high and it certainly is a test for India’s inflation targeting framework.

“The high inflation rate in Q2 FY2022-23 follows high inflation in the previ ous two quarters.

“High fuel and food pric es and their spillover to other sectors have sus tained the high inflation rate,” he said.

The retail inflation based on CPI has remained above 6% since January 2022, and it was 7.41% in September.

“While this pattern is mainly a consequence of the exogenous price shocks, it is important to take measures to limit the spillover of the price shocks to the rest of the economy.

First India Bureau

The meteoric rise of Rishi Sunak to the high est office in Great Brit ain is being hailed the world over, albeit through deviating prisms. Sadly, in some dark minds, his rise is being seen as a body blow and a conspiracy against the whites.

NFDC FACES BACKLASH OVER IFFI SELECTION

from the final list, it does not justify the inclusion of two movies from a single filmmaker. To top this chaos, the two films also include one that was rejected from the film festival in 2020. Filmmak er Sudipto Sen could be simply consid ered lucky if it hadn’t been for his film ‘Before I Die’ which was rejected in 2020.

after being selected for the IFFI. “I got multiple emails from IFFI officials con gratulating me for my film's selection. However, I have come to know that they have dropped it now. It is due to political reasons,” he claimed.

KATRINA'S TOUGH LIFE

Katrina Kaif is all set to tickle the audi ence's funny bones as a ghost in her up coming movie Phone Bhoot. In the opening of the vid eo, Katrina's co-star Ishaan Khatter inquires as to her presence on the set before cutting to her say ing, "Bhootni ke yahaan."

The video shows Katri na fixing her bangs on sets before each shot, and she captioned it, 'Ragini and Her Bangs - A Love Story.'

The filmmaker even com ments that it almost seems

GARHWAL

like a shampoo adver tisement because she doesn't seem con vinced by her 'flying fringe'. She can be seen copying her Slice advertise ment in another brief moment.

Ishaan, Sid dhant, and another crew member give an ex hausted Kat rina hand and shoulder massag es as the video come to a close.

The NFDC is the mother body that looks over four film media units - Films Division, Directo rate of Film Festivals (DFF), National Film Archive of India (NFAI), and Children's Film So ciety of India (CFSI) after the Union Cabinet expanded the Memoran dum of Articles of Association of NFDC in 2020. However, the merger came into effect in April 2022 due to the heavy con troversy surrounding it. There were claims made by some of the prominent personalities of the Indian film industry that the effort is nothing but an attempt to privatise the film archives and gov ernment properties. There was a fear lingering between them that the merger would result in archives being damaged, destroyed and rewritten according to the government if they do not remain autonomous public institutions.

While NFDC has many a time come under scrutiny due to film fraternities claiming it to be corrupt, more prob lems have risen now as the Internation al Film Festival of India 2022 nears.

‘BEFORE I DIE’ 2022 SELECTION AFTER ITS 2020 REJECTION

There was a tough competition for se lecting 25 films among the 354 entries and the jurors had a small time limit of a month to make their decision ready. Although this reason can be used as an excuse for excluding some great movies

Two of his films, including the second named Gurujana, have been selected for the film festival whereas some of the most appreciated feature films such as Anik Dutta’s ‘Aparijito’ which was a tribute to Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pather Pan chali’ have been dropped. Sudipto Sen’s production company Last Monk Media is responsible for co-producing both the films – Before I Die which is directed by Nakul Dev and Gurujana which is Sen’s directorial.

Expressing his dismay, the producer of Aparijito, Firdausul Hasan had even written a letter to the I&B minister An urag Thakur and secretary Apurva Chandra. He had mentioned that his film was even selected by the ministry to be screened at the Shanghai Film Fes tival where it won a Special Jury Award. It was also selected for the ministry’s special screening for Ray’s 100th birth anniversary. He mentioned that a film so good being rejected for the Indian Panorama of the IFFI “deprives cinegoers of a brilliant piece of artistic ex cellence that for which every Indian would be proud of”.

However, despite the ministry asking for reconsideration, all the jury head of 12 members, Vinod Ganatra could say was, he felt “sorry”.

BRATYA BASU’S 2021 UNJUSTIFIED REJECTION

This is not the first time such an inci dent has occurred as the 2021 IFFI was laced with similar controversy when TMC minister, Bratya Basu claimed that his film ‘Dictionary’ was dropped

We approached Bratya Basu and the Managing Director of NFDC Ravinder Bhakar for their view and reaction to the controversy but did not get a re sponse on time.

HEAVY SCRUTINY OVER SOUTH FILMS

While the film selections are a question able decision, the root problem arises from the jurors themselves. The 12-jurymember team assembled for the selection of films at IFFI should be a diverse panel that represents the Indian cinema as a whole. However, this year, eight of the jury members from the panel of 12 are from the South Indian industry. Hence several have raised their concern over whether the inclusion of a variety of South films in the feature films category is the result of the juries’ bias. Although the south has come up with some of the most amazing films of 2022, there have been many that could have been ignored instead of being selected for the IFFI.

This apparent bias has resulted in the rejection of various critically and inter nationally acclaimed films. Apart from Aparijito, Shiv Shashtri Balboa, a heart felt film which received several interna tional awards was also dropped from the final list of feature films.

The NFDC’s questionable decisions surrounding the selection of films for a prestigious festival such as IFFI that has been held by the Indian government and the privatisation of the film ar chives have raised eyebrows in the film fraternity. Will this decision by the NFDC face the rightful consequences or will it be brushed under the carpet like several of its past controversies?

Actor Sudhanshu Pandey, who recently received the Garhwal Post Award for his contribution in Hindi cinema from his excellency Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Manisha Koirala, said that the honour means a lot to him. “Any sort of recognition whether it’s an award or a certificate or a medal is a symbol of recognition. It’s a reward for all the hard work that an actor or any artist puts into their work. Being acknowledged is the biggest reward. Whenever I win awards it’s a very big reassurance of the fact that whatever I am doing there is something right and people are liking it and that is the acknowledgement that I am getting for all my hard work and sincerity to my profession,” said the actor.
