CURRENTLY, THE REGION HAS ABOUT 24% SHARE IN THE COUNTRY’S OIL PRODUCTION Rajiv Gaur, Luna Ram Darji & Papu Brijwal Barmer/ Jodhpur: Addressing the gathering on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Mangala Oil Field in Barmer, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the historic task of petroleum extraction at Mangala Oil fields in Rajasthan, started about a decade ago, changed the shape and fate of not only the Barmer district, but also the entire state of Rajasthan and the country as well. He further added that the production of petroleum in this deserted place was nothing more than a miracle, which brought prosperity to the region.

Gehlot was speaking during the inaugural ceremony of a new project, ‘Ujjawal’, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme by Cairn Oil and Gas and Vedanta Limited on the occasion of the

10th anniversary of the Mangala First Oil. The Chief Minister said, “Since the commencement of oil production in the district, per capita income of the people in Barmer has increased by 650 per cent in the past decade. This is the highest amongst all districts of Rajasthan.

Also, the contribution of Barmer district in the state’s GDP has become highest after Jaipur. Barmer stood at the second position in petroleum production in the country after Bombay High Oilfield. The state is producing almost onefourth of the total crude production in India.”

The Chief Minister also said that anticipating this scenario, the Congress government laid the foundation of a Re f i n e r y - c u m - Pe t ro Complex during its previous tenure. He added that due to lack of will of the State government during the past five years, the refinery project could not take-off

GEHLOT CABINET TO MEET 4 TIMES A MONTH

Gehlot government is working in full swing now and turning another leaf, it has been deiced that cabinet meet will happen on Wednesday. After Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s approval, the cabinet secretariat has issued orders in this regard and this move is aimed at taking crucial decisions related to people on weekly basis. Thus the cabinet will meet four times in a month so that government’s mandate can be effectively implemented for betterment of people. well and it resulted into loss of employment opportunities and earning of revenues for the state.

Notably, Gehlot also thanked both Vedanta Ltd and Cairn Energy for launching the new CSR project titled, ‘Ujjawal.’ Under this project, digital education would be provided to children in 60 selected government schools by enhancing infrastructure and other facilities in the campuses.

Gehlot said that Cairn started oil production in Mangla field ten years ago and that the region is playing a major role by producing the most crude oil and gas. fter almost 3 months, the protests in Hong Kong are still on the grind. What began as an opposition to a controversial extradition bill has morphed into a broader movement to defend social and politi-

cal freedoms there. Although government has withdrawn its proposed legislation, deep anger and cynicism continues.

Hong Kong is one of the world’s most important trade and business hubs. But after three months of anti-government protests, the shopper’s paradise and gourmet destination for millions of tourists, is facing an existential as well as an economic crisis.

ciation president Sanjay Kala told agencies that the traders could lose business worth Rs 500 crore. “The protests in Hong Kong have been going on for several months. This unrest has taken a major turn... If the situation does not stabilise, then close to 300 merchants from Jaipur, who plan to set up shops at the Jewellery and Gem Fair there, will face difficulties and trade of approximately Rs 500 crore will get affected.”

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN HONG KONG  Protests have gripped Hong Kong since June 2019, sparked by highly controversial legislation to extradite those convicted of crimes to mainland China and Taiwan.  Weeks of demonstrations started on June 9 when a procession of people almost two miles long marched for seven hours through central Hong Kong.  In August, operations at Hong Kong airport were suspended for two days after protesters occupied the terminal buildings.  That bill has been shelved for now, but the protests have mushroomed into a broader backlash against the government amid fears of the growing control of China’s Communist Party.

hen the protest started in June, we were exhibiting at that time too.

And it affected our business at that time. We saw comparatively less footfall during the June show as protesters were blocking the roads. The situations are even critical now so we are not expecting many visitors this time too. Since we have already paid for the show, that’s why we will go there, but I am seriously not expecting much visitors. Visitors from various other countries have not confirmed to visit our booth, as they don’t feel safe in Hong Kong at this moment. We have some big buyers from those countries and since they might not be coming, it will affect our business. But let’s see what happens as the situations can turn even worse and they might cancel the show.

At present, there are several other exhibitions going on there and we haven’t received their visitors’ data. But no matter what, if the show continues, we are going there.

All the shows and exhibitions witness a large number of customers but this time in Hong Kong Gems and Jewellery Show in September, we are not expecting many customers as a large number of countries will not be participating this year. There is a situation of unrest in Hong Kong and because of the protests, not many visitors will be coming. In June, when the protests started, there was a jewellery show going on and the show received very less footfall. That’s why we are not expecting many customers this time either. And this whole protest thing will surely affect our business this time. Because of the protests, they might even cancel the show too, so we are not sure if we will go this year or not.

port where there are no duties or restrictions are imposed on precious jewellery products or related materials. It is also the ideal springboard from which traders from all around the world can venture out to the booming markets of mainland China and the rest of Asia.

 The September Fair is a global event that receives strong international participation. Companies from 25 countries and regions group themselves into pavilions, including Antwerp, Brazil, mainland China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), and the Natural Colour Diamond Association (NCDIA).  In 2018, the September Fair hosted a select group of over 3,730 exhibitors from 54 countries and regions. They occupied more than 135,000 square meters of exhibition space in two venues: the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The fair welcomed over 54,000 visitors from around the world.

Desuri (Pali): A man from Bagol village under Desuri Panchayat Samiti was attacked by a sloth bear sustaining severe injuries. However the man, raised an alarm and started shouting due to which the bear left him and fled in the forest.

“One Khetaram dewasi was returning home after grazing his animals in the

forest when the bear suddenly; attacked him. He was within earshot of the village and on hearing his wails, the villagers rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was taken to near by hospital from where he was referred to Sumerpur.

He is undergoing treatment. Bear attack has lent terror in and people are afraid,”officials said.

FAMILY AGITATE OVER DEATH OF KIN IN JHALAWAR HOSPITAL Jhalawar: Family members of a woman, who had been admitted to a private hospital in Jhalawar, created a ruckus after the woman died on Thursday. The woman, who recently delivered a girl child, complained of illness and suddenly her condition turned worse while in the hospital.

Sometime later the woman died. Claiming that the hospital staff did not pay attention the patient, the family members agitated after which the cops reached the spot and pacified the family members.

After which family members ended their agitation.

Every year, the show witnesses a huge number of gathering and amplifies the profits of the jewellers. But this year, because of the ongoing demonstrations, most countries are less likely to participate in the expo as the countries have issued an advisory asking people not to travel to the semi-autonomous Chinese city considering that it is not safe because of the demonstrations there.

During the June show, when the protests had just started gearing up, there was a jewellery show going on in Hong Kong at that time and that show was a big flop because of that. I am not sure if the protests will affect the Gem and Jewellery show this time, but it surely has affected the mind-set of the people who were earlier planning to visit the September show.

Assembly to get e-museum for `20cr Mukesh Sharma Jaipur: An ultra-modern digital museum will be built in Rajasthan Assembly Building under the Jaipur Smart City Mission. Information about the political development journey of Rajasthan, History and Constitution will be displayed in this museum. On October 2, the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the museum will take place.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the board of directors of Jaipur Smart City Limited (JSCL) held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Bhawani Singh Detha, secretary of the Local Self Government Department. An amount of Rs 20 crore was sanctioned for the construction of the proposed digital mu-

In the JSCL board meeting, various projects of Smart City Mission were reviewed and new proposals were approved.

At the meeting, 14 crore rupees were sanctioned for the restoration and repair work of the barmdas of main markets of the Walled City area. Under the Jaipur Smart City Mission, the proposal was approved for the repair

and renovation of the building of Yadgar police control room, Darbar School located at Baba Harishchand Marg, Maharaja Library located at Chaura Rasta and Maharaja Girls School, Chotti Chaupar and the construction of Sports Complex and Community Center.

Under the Krishna Circuit Project, inprinciple approval of Rs 50 crore was given

for the construction of Pedestriel Walk from Govind Devji Temple to Atish Market, Jay Nivas Udyan, Gopinath Temple, Road Development, Renovation of Gopinath Temple etc.

Out of which approval of Rs 16.6 crore was given for the first phase works.

It was approved in the meeting to construct underground parking at Sawai Man Singh Stadium at a cost

of Rs 12 crore and at Ram Niwas Bagh and Ramlila Maidan at a cost of Rs 90 crore. For the expansion of sports facilities at Chaugan Stadium and Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Indore Stadium, Badminton Court, Table Tennis Court, Boxing Ring etc. will be constructed.

It was approved to spend about 40 crores.

Under the Talkatora Development Project, a proposal to spend around Rs 25 crore on renovation and lake development was approved. The board decided to pave the Nagtalai and Kartarpura nallas by distilling them.

About 100 crore rupees are estimated to be spent on this work.

Apart from this, other proposals worth crores of rupees were also approved in the meeting,

Ajmer: Wife of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Jashodaben reached Ajmer with her elder brother Ashok on to attend an event at the Ajmer Ladli Ghar. After reaching Ajmer, she first offered prayers at the Ghats of Pushkar and the Brahma temple.

On reaching the venue, the girls of the organisation welcomed Jashodaben with flowers and tilak.

The visually challenged girls started the program with a song on ‘Beti Bachao Beto Padhao’. Some of them were also honoured by Jashodaben. She also gave a cash reward of Rs. 1,100 to the girls who sang the song. While addressing the program, Jashodaben made the people shout slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram.

Jashodaben said that she liked the way people here have taken care of the visually challenged girls and made them capable to face the challenges of the world. CBSE has hiked the examination fee for class 10 by 20 percent and 40 percent for class 12 respectively. The registration fees will now be same for both classes at Rs 1500. The board has also announced to increase the migration fees which was earlier Rs 150 and now it be Rs 350. Any student who could not pass their exam will now have to

The board is also planning to reduce the number of descriptive questions for both class 10 and 12. To increase the chances of students to score higher, the board will also provide more internal choices in board exams 2020.

CBSE activated the registration process for all regular students of class 9 and 10 on August 8 which will end in the month of September.

After the country got independent on August 15, 1947, still, the attempts were being made to unify Rajpu-

tana of 20 principalities and British Raj along with Matsya state. With the efforts of Sardar Patel, Rajasthan was established on March 30, 1949 but Matsya state got included on May 15, 1949.

After that, announcement of making Jaipur as political capital and Jodhpur as judicial capital was made.

Udaipur’s Maharana was declared Maharaj Pramukh and Jaipur’s King Sawai Mansingh

was declared as Raj Pramukh. It was for the agreement between states related to identity, highcourt in Jodhpur was established.

Raj Pramukh Sawai ManSingh inaugurated the High Court. After the total unification of Rajasthan, it was transferred in Jodhpur. The

transfer was made on the recommendation of Satyanarayan Rao Committee. Before the unified High Court, in the state, there were 5 High Courts. These were Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, East Rajasthan and in Matsya Sangh.

After Independence when the state was re organised, highcourts were also unified.

Though, Rajasthan’s first High Court was established in Udaipur

in 1948 in which 5 judges used to conduct hearing,but after larger Rajasthan came into existence on March 30, 1949 Rajasthan Highcourt was also re organised.

Chief Justice of Udaipur highcourt Kamalkant Verma who had retired from Allahbad High Court was made the chief justice , after the constitution was implemented on January 26, 1950 and his age being on higher

side as per eligibility, Justice Verma was removed.

Between 1949 to 1952, there was main bench of High Court in Jodhpur and benches in Jaipur, Udaipur and Kota. With passage of time, Kota and Udaipur ceased to have benches.

In 1958, after the order of the then CJ K N Vanchu, Jaipur also ceased to have a bench but after an intense struggle, in 1977, bench in Jaipur was re established.

The search operation that was being conducted under close supervision of ACB DG Alok Tripathi revealed several documents related to property and assets.

ered documents of commercial office and shop in Aatish Market area, 2.75 bigha agricultural land in the name of almighty food processing unit Muhana Mandi and Ash Food processing unit at Manoharpur, Shahpura. One plot each in Rajdhani Anaj mandi at Sikar road and at Narayan Vihar. Documents showing house in Awadhpura, Patrakar Colony, Everest colony and Vaishal nagar project. The plots are valued at seven crore rupees according to DLC rate and a market price of 22 – 25 crore rupees.

ASI IN ACB NET FOR TAKING BRIBE Anti Corruption Bureau conducted a major

The ACB had received a complaint against the ASI that the cop was demanded a bribe to remove the names of a few women from a case.

“The complainant informed that a case (number 732/19) was registered in the Mansarover police station and for removal of the names of a few women related to

the complainant, ASI Rattiram Yadav demanded a bribe of 1.5 lakh rupees. The ASI assured that the case in section 308 would be removed. A deal was struck for seventy-five thousand rupees. After the complaint was registered a bid was initiated for verification. Once the demand was verified a trap was laid and Rattiram was nabbed along with his middleman – Tarachand – while taking the bribe.

STAKEHOLDER CAPITALISM IS BACK? America’s most powerful CEOs may support sweeping legislative reforms

or four decades, the prevailing doctrine in the United States has been that corporations should maximize shareholder value – meaning profits and share prices – here and now, come what may, regardless of the consequences to workers, customers, suppliers, and communities. So the statement endorsing stakeholder capitalism, signed earlier this month by virtually all the members of the US Business Roundtable, has caused quite a stir. After all, these are the CEOs of America’s most powerful corporations, telling Americans and the world that business is about more than the bottom line. That is quite an about-face. Or is it?

The free-market ideologue and Nobel laureate economist Milton Friedman was influential not only in spreading the doctrine of shareholder primacy, but also in getting it written into US legislation.

He went so far as to say, “there is one and only one social responsibility of business – to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits.”The irony was that shortly after Friedman promulgated these ideas, and around the time they were popularized and then enshrined in corporate governance laws – as if they were based on sound economic theory – Sandy Grossman and I, in a series of papers in the late 1970s, showed that shareholder capitalism did not maximize societal welfare.

This is obviously true when there are important externalities such as climate change, or when corporations poison the air we breathe or the water we drink. And it is obviously true when they push unhealthy products like sugary drinks that contribute to childhood obesity, or painkillers that unleash an opioid crisis, or when they exploit the unwary and vulnerable, like Trump University and so many other American forprofit higher education institutions. And it is true when they profit by exercising market power, as many banks and technology companies do.

But it is even true more generally: the market can drive firms to be shortsighted and make insufficient investments in their workers and communities.

So it is a relief that corporate leaders, who are supposed to have penetrating insight into the functioning of the economy, have finally seen the light and caught up with modern economics, even if it took them some 40 years to do so. But do these corporate leaders really mean what they say, or is their statement just a rhetorical gesture in the face of a popular backlash against widespread misbehavior?

There are reasons to believe that they are being more than a little disingenuous.

There is also the tiny matter of Kashmiris themselves. At least since 1953, their leaders have been flirting with the idea of independence. Some of them believe that they could be the Switzerland of Asia if the Indians and Pakistanis would leave them alone.

Both Pakistan and India fear that. So does China.

Kashmir’s independence

Taj Mahal will soon open every night for all

New Delhi: The glimmering Taj Mahal, said to be at its aesthetic best in moonlight, could now be thrown open after sunset for all tourists.

So far, night access to the globally renowned monument was allowed at a premium only for five nights in a month. Union Tourism and Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel told in an interview that the Taj Mahal will remain open even beyond its 10.00 am to 6.00 pm public access time.

“We have been receiving a lot of requests to keep the monument open during the night hours.

We are dedicated to make this a reality,” Patel said. The Tourism Ministry is also planning to illuminate the area around the monument and develop other infrastructure required to deal with night rush.

While speaking to media, a well thought and well organised Pande clearly told that certain norms and parameters have already been decided for selecting suitable candidates for political appointments.

Pande also indicated that all important issues related to Rajasthan Congress Organisation were also discussed at length with the Congress president.

He did not rule out a major reshuffle in PCC

in the coming days.

According to political observers, now it has become more clear that Pande will continue to hold his present crucial charge of Rajasthan AICC General Secretary and will also continue to call the shots in party and government affairs in consultation with Ahmed Patel and Ashok Gehlot. In other words, an Ahmed PatelGehlot- Pande team will be taking almost all major decisions of the party and the government in Rajasthan. There is already a consensus among the top leadership of Congress in New Delhi to extend a complete free hand to Gehlot to run the affairs of Rajasthan, especially

in the government and therefore now it is also speculated that a much awaited cabinet reshuffle will be as per the functional requirement of Gehlot in the state.

The million-dollar question is whether there will be a cabinet reshuffle before by-polls and local self elections?

However, a shrewd and discreet Pande did not disclose to media persons that whether he discussed this sensitive issue with the Congress president or not. But the general impression is that part from a very few selected political appointments, no major reshuffle will be carried out at least till the completion of upcoming elections.

The Chief Executive Officer of Cairn Oil and Gas Ajay Dixit, while addressing the gathering, said that his company would make efforts to increase the state’s contribution in country’s oil production to 50% from the present 24%.

he first edition of a two-day fashion show ‘Vibrant India Fashion Week 2019’, presented by Jai Chitranga Production and organised by Jyoti Vaishnav, was organised on Wednesday at Hotel Marriott, where Jagdeesh Chandra was present as the chief guest of the event.

The event was started with a vibrant sequence by the designer Naveen Kumar, who displayed the Gown collection made up of fabric like Organza and Georgette. An actress from South India, Sangeetha, walked the ramp for the designer as the show stopper.

The first day of the event was compiled with nine sequences by renowned designers from pan India like Asha Negi, Manish Kumar, Sanlisa patel and more. An exclusive garment collection was also

James Safechuck claimed that Michael Jackson had a list of secret words for sex. A report stated that the late singer would scratch the inside of his hand with a finger to show he wanted sex and the lawyers for James have also filed documents stating that he should be allowed to claim against the MJ’s estate after being molested nearly 100 times over a four-year period.

The production company behind the upcoming film “Michael Jackson: The Last Photo shoot” is taking legal action against the late singer’s estate over a video of him at the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York.

The report further quoted, Jackson’s estate attorney Howard Weitzman, he stated, “The makers of the documentary are attempting to exploit footage and photographs of Michael Jackson, which we believe are owned by his Estate.

The documentary contains footage of Michael during private moments that he never agreed could be publicly and commercially exploited without his consent and/or involvement. Michael never authorised or approved the use of this material in the film.”

In the middle of the Nineties, Michael Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse. He was accused of sexually abusing Jordan Chandler. There was a lot of media outcry on the issue, with Jordan’s father, Evan Chandler coming into the scene. But the entire case later ended in an out of court settlement.

The singer had later released a tape wherein he spoke about the charges, he said, “There have been many disgusting statements and are totally false, it is a horrifying experience that I am

being subjected. Media has dissected and manipulated, don’t treat me like a criminal, I have been forced to submit.” Michael Jackson was also strip searched in this incident, which was a humiliation which he reportedly never recovered from. Chandler had reportedly described Jackson’s intimate parts like buttocks, penis, pubic hair and testicles.

Back again in 2003, Michael Jackson was in the news for sexual abuse. A particular controversial scene from a documentary aired about the singer, was the cause of trouble. He was reportedly seen holding hands and discussing sleeping arrangements. He was arrested in 2003 and charged with sexual abuse, but was acquitted on all counts. MJ had spoken about the painful experience. He said, “People always wonder why I have children around me.

But I try to find what I didn’t get through them like Disneyland, amusement parks and arcade games.”

The first audition of Extreme survivors, a fitness and task oriented show, was organised on Thursday in the Pink City, where participants showcased their dancing, singing and fitness skill talent, being judged by fitness enthusiast Eklavya Singh and Model Saim Pathan. n the occasion of completion of their first year, Akhil Bhartiya Agarwal Sangathan Purvi Rajasthan (Women Wing) organised an event, ‘ABAS Konnect’ at Hotel Golden Tulip on Thursday in which fun activities like fashion show and group and solo dance performances were beautifully staged by the ladies of the club. The motive of the event was to provide a platform to the homemakers who are exceptionally talented but do not have the sources through which they can express themselves.

During a conversation, President of Akhil Bhartiya Agarwal Sangathan,

Alka Agarwal said, “We have been working for the last three months for this event during which, the ladies of the club were given professional grooming sessions as well as classes to enhance their talent towards perfection. The only motto of the event is women empowerment and to put a crown on each other’s heads in order to walk hand in hand, supporting each other.”

An interactive session was also held for the ladies with Dr Vibha Chaturvedi, Gynaecologist at CK Birla Hospital, who talked about obesity, menopause and causes of cancer.

During a conversation, Vibha said, “Women take care of everything and everyone in their families but

they forget to take care of themselves.

After the age of 40, the ladies really need to take care of their health. They must get involved in some or the other physical activity to stay fit. Regular tests should be taken. The most important thing is to absolutely boycott fried food and sugar after 40.
