Mohd Fahad New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday pulled up the Centre for its “evasive” and “brazen” affidavit in connection with pleas seeking action against alleged motivated media reporting on the Tablighi Jamaat. A bench headed by CJI SA Bobde was hearing a clutch of petitions filed by Jamiat Ulama-iHind and others seeking action against media organisation allegedly giving communal colour to the Covid-19 outbreak at the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin. The bench rapped Solicitor General Tushar Mehta after a junior official at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry filed the affidavit which contained “unnecessary” and “nonsensical” averments with regard to media reporting on the issue. Mumbai: The Mumbai police on Thursday claimed to have busted a ‘major racket’ which was “fraudulently involved in manipulating Television Ratings Points (TRP)” of TV channels, including Republic TV. Four persons have been arrested in the case. Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh said so far, three channels including Republic, Fakt Marathi, and Box Cinema were found to be indulging in such malpractices. Singh said that barometers to measure TRP’s are kept at several undisclosed houses across the country, based on which the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) measures TRPs of channels. nion Minister for Food and Public Distribution and Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan passed away this evening. He was 74. Paswan underwent heart surgery last week and was due to undergo another one in a few days, his son Chirag had told the media. The Union Minister was in a critical condition with multiple organ complications. A Dalit leader from Bihar, Paswan served in many cabinets.

New Delhi: According to latest input, on Rahul’s proposed Rajasthan visit to hold a farmers’ rally, now it looks like a remote possibility. Earlier, on Gehlot’s invitation, Rahul had reportedly given his ‘in-principal’ consent but now looking to his other engagements in New Delhi, there is no certainty of his Rajasthan visit and therefore now Rahul will not be the chief guest at Congress’s Kissan Sammelan at Birla Auditorium on 10th October.
