Jaipur (PTI): A volunteer organisation has sought Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s intervention for the rehabilitation of two elephants used for tourist rides at Amber Fort, near Jaipur. Video footage shows one of the elephants, Malti, repetitively swaying and bobbing its head, which are signs of severe psychological distress in captive elephants, said Khushboo Gupta, Di- rector of Advocacy Projects, PETA India.

Khushboo Gupta said that using such elephants for rides poses a risk to the lives of tourists phant care center. When contacted, an official of the state archaeology department said only those elephants which are found fit by the forest department are used for the ride at the Amber Fort.
“Medical examination of the elephants is done by the forest department and based on the reports, only fit elephants area used for the ride,” the official said.

Jaipur: A youth hostel will soon be built in Delhi for students of Rajasthan taking coaching and preparing for various competitive exams. While speaking to reporters in the Youth Hostel on Thursday, State Youth Board President Sitaram Lamba gave information about the work to be done in 2023-24 and said that the construction of Nehru Transit Hostel in
Delhi will be done by the state government for Rs. 300 crores. “The hostel will give free-of-cost residential facilities to more than 500 students of economically weaker sections of Rajasthan to stay and study in Delhi. The construction will start soon and 250 rooms will be there in the Nehru Youth Hostel,” said Sitaram Lamba. He also discussed the suggestions given for the budget by the youth board.
