Jaipur: The Directorate of Medical Education was on Friday conferred with the SKOCH Gold Award in the health sector for organ transplantation. The award was given for the setting up of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO). Principal Secretary (Medical Education) T Ravikant informed that in 2019, SOTTO was established in SMS Medical College and so far, 95 kidneys, 45 livers, 27 hearts, one pancreas, fourteen corneas and two heart valves have been transplanted in the state through organ donation of 51 brain dead persons. Social Justice and Empowerment Department was also given the award on Friday.
