Protest over appointment of new Economics HOD

Jaipur: An order issued by the Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan University Rajeev Jain has become a topic of hot discussion. Jain has issued the order to appoint Sociology Professor SL Sharma as the Head of the Economics department.

As soon as the order was issued, many professors of the university came out in protest.

The objection is that

According to the rules, the professor of the department of Economics becomes the HoD. HoD is made on the basis of seniority when there are many capable professors in the department of Economics then why Professor SL Sharma, who comes from the Department of Sociology, was made HoD of the Economics department? At present, SL Shar- ma is the Principal of Rajasthan College, Dean of the Sociology department, & a member of over 50 committees. Even after so many responsibilities, giving another responsibility by the Vice Chancellor of Ra- jasthan University is being questioned. This is not the first such issue in Rajasthan University when the Vice Chancellor issued an order while bypassing the rules for his desired and favorite professor.

Earlier, Professor Rameshwar Jat was the HoD of the Economics Department but due to the arbitrariness of the Vice-Chancellor, Sharma was appointed as the HoD.

Jaipur (PTI) A 25-yearold youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Dhankya railway station on Monday.

Amarjeet Singh Koli, a resident of Alwar, was preparing for a competitive examination in Jaipur, police official said. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the relatives, the official added.

THIEVES STEAL AMOUNT FROM DONATION BOX OF TEMPLE AT SECRETARIAT PREMISES

Jaipur: In a major breach in the security of the Government Secretariat, the thieves took away the donation box of the Chamatkareshwar temple situated on the secretariat premises on late Sunday night. The Secretariat Police is investigation the case and checking all CCTV cameras. The thieves defied the security system and broke the donation box and looted the amount inside it. The people are stunned that how the thieves were able to steal from the temple located in the high-security area of the Secretariat and none came to know.
