Pune: Having announced his coalition with Shiv Sena, Prakash Ambedkar of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi claimed on Tuesday that the ‘master of this country has become a servant out of fear and the servant has become the master’.

“The voter is owner of the country. Can anyone say that if in 2024 there is non-BJP-RSS government, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah will not be jailed. Unfortunately, voter who is master of this country has become a servant out of fear and the servant has become the master. We have to remove this fear in the coming times. Meanwhile, Ambedkar admired Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and stressed that Nehru built the country with great difficulty. “On the basis of Dr. Homi Bhabha’s research, Nehru set up factories in the country. Those factories are economic backbone of India today. But Modi has started selling these very factories,” he claimed.

Thane: The police in Thane district claimed to have solved four cases with the arrest of a 28-year-old man who allegedly stole vehicles and robbed people on streets, an official said on Tuesday. The police arrested the accused, Sarfaraz Ajmal Khan after stepping up vigilance following an increase in theft cases in the area. Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday recognized ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’ as the state song. The song will be officially adopted on February 19, the birth anniversary of the founder of the Maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. One of the iconic songs in Marathi, ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha, Garja Maharashtra Majha’, which means ‘Glory to Maharashtra’, was penned by Raja Badhe and sung by balladeer Krishnarao Sable, popularly known as Shaheer Sable.

`6,000 BRIBE

Thane: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a zonal forest officer of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs6,000 for allowing the transportation of sand trucks to Yeoor Hills in Thane, the ACB said on Tuesday. The truck owner approached the ACB with a complaint, following which, they laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting Rs6,000 from the complainant near Upvan Lake in the city, it said.

Maha govt to bear 50% cost of rly projects

Mumbai (PTI): The Maharashtra government has reversed the previous (MVA) government’s decision not to give 50% contribution to railway projects in the state.

Speaking with Lok Sabha MPs on Monday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said several projects which are beneficial to the public are pending with the central government.

“We need to expedite them and pursue them,” he said. “The state government will bear 50% cost of the railway projects in the state so that they will be completed fast,” he added.

Shinde also said another round of meetings will be held after two months.

“Utilization certificates of allocated money are crucial for releasing next round of funds. Secretaries of various departments need to focus on their timely submission as well,” he added.
