Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday denied bail to advocate Surendra Gadling in connection with the 2016 Surjagarh iron ore mine arson case.

Menezes noted that prima facie the accusations against Gadling are true.
On December 25, 2016, Maoists allegedly set ablaze 76 vehicles that were being used for transporting iron ore from Surajgarh mines in Gadchiroli.
In the judgment, the bench noted that perusal of the material submitted by the prosecution shows reasonable ground to believe that the accusations against Gadling are “prima facie true”.

Acting on a tip-off, the Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar police’s anti-human trafficking cell laid a trap near a hotel in Mira Road area, arresting an auto-rickshaw driver and a woman for allegedly running the prostitution racket, senior police inspector Samir Ahirrao said. SIX ARRESTED FOR THE MURDER OF 20-YEAR-OLD MAN
Thane: Police have arrested six persons for allegedly killing a 20-yearold man over past enmity in Thane district, an official said on Tuesday. The deceased, Akashkumar Raj was attacked around 6.30 pm on Monday after he had an argument with four persons at a petrol pump in Mira Road, he said. He headed from the pump to a garage but the four accused, with others followed him and assaulted him with sharp weapons and iron rods, killing him on the spot, said the official.
FOUR DEAD IN CARBUS COLLISION ON MUM-A’BAD HWY
Palghar: Four persons were killed when their car rammed into a bus on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Palghar district on Tuesday, police said.
Two persons travelling in the bus also received injuries in the accident which took place near Mahalakshmi bridge on the highway, an official from Kasa police station said.
The four car occupants including a woman were travelling from Gujarat to Mumbai when their vehicle rammed into the bus from behind, the official said. All four persons died on the spot, he said.

Mumbai: An unidentified man robbed a 72-year-old woman at gunpoint, getting away with valuables and cash worth Rs12 lakh from her home in central Mumbai, a police official said. An unidentified man entered the residential building and knocked at the door of the woman around 4 pm. As the senior citizen opened the door, the armed man barged inside and whipped out a revolver, tied the woman using clothes and escaped with valuables and cash worth Rs 12 lakh from her residence, he said. said the official.
SCHOOL TEACHER THRASHES 5-YROLD, CASE LODGED
Thane: Police have registered a case against a 40-year-old school teacher for allegedly hitting a five-year-old boy with a stick and slapping him, an official said on Tuesday.
The child suffered injuries in the incident which took place on Monday at a private school in Kalyan area, the official said. After the boy informed his parents about the incident, they complained to the police following which a case was registered, he added.
No arrests have been made in the case so far.
