Agartala: Manik Saha took oath for the second time as Tripura Chief Minister on Wednesday after the BJP clinched a victory in the February 16 Assembly polls.

Eight other ministers were sworn in on Wednesday.

During the oath ceremony here, top BJP brass was accompanied by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Arunachal

CM Pema Khanda, Manipur CM N Biren Singh and Sikkim CM PS Tamang. Also on the stage was BJP’s Biplab Deb, who was replaced by Saha mid-term. However, three cabinet berths have still been kept vacant anticipating that the second largest party TIPRA Motha would join the government, if not, then these would be filled up in the next phase, the BJP sources said.

PM Narendra Modi congratulated Manik Saha on taking oath as Tripura Chief Minister and said he and his team of newly sworn-in ministers will certainly deliver on the mandate given by the people of the State once again.

IN chopper meets with accident off Mumbai coast

Mumbai (FIB): An advanced light helicopter (ALH) of the Indian Navy on Wednesday met with an accident off the Mumbai coast. The Navy said 3 crew members were safely rescued by a naval patrol craft. An inquiry to investigate the incident has also been ordered, it said “The Indian Navy ALH on a routine sortie off Mumbai ditched close to the coast.

Immediate Search and Rescue ensured safe recovery of crew of three by naval patrol craft,” the Navy said in a brief statement. P3 at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, in Agartala.

BJP inducted 3 new ministers from within its ranks - Tinku Roy, a close confidante of Biplab Deb, Bikash Debbarma, chief of BJP’s Scheduled Tribes Morcha, and Sudhanshu Das. BJP’s ally IPFT, which was routed in these elections, got one ministerial berth. Sukla Charan Noatia from IPFT took oath as minister.

NO TALK OF ALLIANCE: TIPRA MOTHA CHIEF AFTER MEETING SHAH, NADDA

H M Amit Shah along with JP Nadda, Manik Saha and Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday met Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma in Agartala amid speculations that the tribal party, which had made an impressive show in the assembly elections, is likely to join hands with the BJP ahead of the 2024 general elections. Debbarma took to Twitter to clarify that issues such as alliance and cabinet were not discussed. He said Shah has started process for a constitutional solution for indigenous people of Tripura and an interlocutor for this process would be appointed within a specified time frame.
