BJP to propose resolution against BBC documentary in Guj Assembly

Gujarat BJP MLA Vipul Patel will move a resolution on Friday in the Assembly seeking “strong action” against the “concocted” findings shown in a BBC documentary, which he alleged “once again attempts to blame the then-state government” for the 2002 post-Godhra riots. The proposed resolution will likely say the BBC documentary was a “low-level attempt” to tarnish India’s global image. “India is a democratic shared by the Assembly secretariat on Tuesday.

The two-part BBC documentary, titled “India: The Modi Question”, claimed it investigated certain aspects relating to the 2002 Gu- jarat riots when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of the state. with Lok Sabha 2024 elections drawing close. “As the elections of 2024 draw near, there will be no opposition leader left who is not raided by income tax,” He said.

“If someone behaves or acts like this (BBC), then he cannot be taken lightly. BBC is losing its credibility and seems to be working with some hidden agenda against India & the Indian government. Hence, this House requests the Government to take strict action against the mindboggling findings shown in documentary,” said a note on the resolution to be moved by Patel.

Conrad Sangma, Neiphiu Rio take oath as new Chief Mins

Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s Neiphiu Rio and National People’s Party chief Conrad Sangma took oath as the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Meghalaya respectively on Tuesday. Both the ceremonies were graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taditui Rangkau Zeliang and Yanthungo Patton take oath as Deputy chief ministers of Nagaland in Kohima.

Dhankhar appoints personal staff on 20 house panels

New Delhi (ANI): In an unprecedented move, Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday appointed eight members of his personal staff on 20 committees under the ambit of the Upper House Secretariat.

Eight members of Mr Dhankhar’s personal staff, including four posted in the Vice-President Secretariat, have been appointed on the 20 committees, an order issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said.

Eight committees include four departmentrelated parliamentary standing committees and four other parliamentary standing committees. These include committees headed by non-BJP and opposition MPs.

Among those appointed to the committees include the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Vice-President, OSD to the Chairman and Personal Secretary to the Vice-President.
