Adani Wilmar is a 50:50 joint venture between business conglomerate Adani Group and Singapore-based Wilmar. On Thursday, Adani Wilmar released a statement and said, “The officials did not find any irregularities in the operations and dealings conducted by the company. We would like to clarify that the concerns specific to GST payments in cash, citing GST law under Rule 86B, the company is not required to pay the tax liability.” “The staff extended their support during this routine inspection, fully cooperating with the officials and local authorities,” the company said, adding depot operations are functioning normally after the visit. The statement noted that this was actually a routine inspected by the authorities and not a raid and all its operations are in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.Interestingly, it seems that Adani group is going through a ‘rough phase’ after the recent Hindenburg report followed by the dip in Adani’s shares. On the other hand, there are murmurs in ‘power corridoors’ that the sixty thousand crore rupees Adani Solar project’s MoU with Rajasthan government may also be cancelled. Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had recently targeted the Adani group in the Parliament.
