Jaipur: Dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was brought here on Wednesday on a production warrant for interrogation in connection with firing at G Club on January 2 night, police said. The gangster was brought here from Bathinda of Punjab and taken to Jawahar Circle police station here where the case was registered. A team of Jaipur Police had gone to Bathinda on Tuesday late evening and at around 10 am on Wednesday, the gangster was detained on a production warrant from Bathinda Central Jail and left for Jaipur.

Nearly 100 policemen are deployed around who was brought to Jaipur on production warrant. the police station for security reasons. He will be interrogated in connection with the case. Recently, six people who are associates of a member of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang were arrested for firing outside a club in Jaipur on January 29. A hotel manager was among those arrested who was also involved.

AGRICULTURE DEPT STAFFER HELD FOR SEEKING BRIBE

Thane: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has detained an inspector at the agriculture office in Thane district for allegedly demanding a bribe to restore the suspended license of a fertilizer dealer, officials said on Wednesday. The accused, who worked as the district standard control officer, had allegedly demanded Rs25,000 but “settled” for Rs20,000, the ACB said. The fertiliser dealer lodged a complaint with the Thane ACB which apprehended the accused on Tuesday and registered a case against him under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
